This is a great game on the Tilt Five! Just right for AR. As long as you put your head in the right place and tilt it just right, your car's never not in view! Not that I've ever managed to do this - but logic says it's true. You can find me in the Kitchen...
As of 2022 this game is pretty much abandonware that has a broken menu, freezes at the end of the tutorial and does not work from that point on. I tried to get past the broken tutorial many times and each time the computer froze requiring me to do the alt-ctrl-delete to bring up the Task manager to fore quit the program.
Also the cars, even though they are tiny toy cars, have only minimal simplistic physics so there is very little fun to be had here. Very bad repetitive music. Basically, why would you want to play this when you can get much better games in your mobile phone app store?
Very cool and fun!
It reminds me of my childhood.
Perfect for having fun with your kids!
Congratulations to the Developers!
An innovative game, bringing a new concept to car racing, in a playful and fun way. Certainly, a game that will bring me many moments of fun alone or with friends.
Congratulations Developers, keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the FINAL version!
Cool Game!
I Had such a great time, Racing, and trying to not get wreck by the other cars and objects that get in my way.
Playing it feel so good, it has an atmosphere of toys playground, Can't Wait to get more tracks!
Now i have to try harder to beat my friends on leaderboard!
Очень забавная игрушка, можно строить подлянки соперникам, а можно и самому себя нае*ать.
I really am enjoying it, because it is in development i have some feedback
TL:DR A great concept, really hope the development is active, needs a few features. I paid less than £1/$1.30 and I am so happy with the purchase. I could however get bored and am having a few framerate issues
I get a lot of frame stuttering in corners, my framerate monitor says I am getting a solid 60 fps when the stutter occurs, don't know if that is just my hardware or if anyone else is experiencing it.
I have only played 3 tracks so i don't know if there are other modes yet, but so far it seems that there is only the out-race survival mode. Which is fun but a little repetative, full race mode would be great to have as well, as well as a time attack and sprint mode.
i LOVE the maps and setting - so micromachines esque - when I was a child me and my brother would try and build our own race tracks and always wished we could in MM. Maybe implement a track maker and online sharing? that would be SO COOL
fun and simple game, hope for more content
It's extremely difficult to speak ill of this game considering the price it charges. It's dirt cheap, it's almost like stealing from the developers. And what's in it for you?
As the game itself says in its description, it is essentially a clone of MicroMachines. It is essentially the same game, with the same principles: you use small (toy) cars, running on tracks that seem to have been assembled by children in their rooms, to play against other cars. If the distance between the first place and the other cars is too great, the cars that touch the edges of the screen are defeated and disappear, until there is only one car left on the track. Then, you win the round, and repeat this for 5 more times.
The gameplay and basic concept of the game is extremely simple and fun. The game has no ultra-realistic graphics or anything like that, but it delivers what it promises. The only criticism I would make is that some sounds are a little too loud and end up being repetitive. If you have a friend or someone to play with, it's a great option. And again, for what the game offers, the price is ridiculously cheap.
When this leaves EA and has more race tracks/rooms, I would say that it is impossible in good conscience not to say it is worth the investment.
nice corky racing game have only played a couple stages and from what ive played and seen this game is a gem! 4 out of 5 rating from me.
An amazing game, so much fun, it remembered me when I played destruction derby and also carmagedon in a way. Me and my girlfriend played and loved it! I am hoping to see how it is gonna be with more people. Very creative and difficult some times, very good AI programming there. Loved the mechanics, I am always accelerating, did not care about the brakes, just wrecking the others to victory! Congratulations to the developer!
Nice game but I can't play multiplayer. I tried 4 players on keyboard but only 1 car is on the screen. Any one know how run game for multiplayer?
Funny, creative and very well polished. You can play against the computer or in the mod coop that is very nice too.
Ótimo jogo pra jogar com os amigos, ideal pra quarentena
Simply perfect, it pays perfect homage to MicroMachines! It is extremely cheap for the content it provides, it took me only a few minutes playing to get absolutely hooked. I would advise anyone to buy this game, it is great to play solo, but mostly to play with friends if you have the opportunity.
Can't get my Xbox controller to work with the game yet and keyboard controls don't seem to work either.
This used to be a negative review, but I've found that the developers listen to feedback and fix the game's annoyances and bugs. The game still has a few issues but that's expected for Early Access, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what new content and modes the developers add. For instance, I'd like to be able to control the AI difficulty (or at least slow them down) so that the kids can enjoy the game too. Perhaps a "free drive" type mode also that doesn't penalise you if you fall behind, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the tracks and remove the frustrations of non-stop direct competition.
Really fun game to play on local multiplayer. We don't have controllers and we could play with 4 players on keyboard!!!
Great deal! Game with an old school feeling. Its nice how devs are listening to the community and tuning the game. Recommended if you like the old Micromachines and want to give your 5 cents to see further improvements to a already cool game.
It's a really cool game, already in the early stages of development it brings me a nostalgic experience since I played a lot of the old micro machine games! Can't wait for new updates to come with new maps and obstacles.
A solid start to a MicroMachines throwback. A lot of fun and I didn't seem to find too many actual "bugs". The vast majority of my beefs are with lack of features. I know it's a work in progress, but... you did release it and I did pay for it. We need more tracks, first and foremost. There's only one vehicle type. Though the car skin changes twice, same speed and handling. The original MicroMachines had boats and monster trucks that all drove differently. More music tracks. More effects when you hit objects, or most notably, when your vehicle runs out of "life" it should explode or something. The race just ends. Weak. Bah. It's all good. Like I said, overall, it's a great start. Just need more. Yes, I'd absolutely recommend and yes I'm looking forward to more.
This game was super fun to play for the price, but the constant shifting of camera angles made me very nauseous this hasn't happened for any other game could you guys try to fix it? if not I understand the price for this game is really good
Great game! So good to play in PVP mode. It currently has 12 levels which you can either set in day or night mode. Great graphics. It was just like playing micro machines back in the day but a lot better. The only criticism I would have for it is that you can play tournaments and you can't choose character players. Apart from that, it absolutely rocks!
Everything about this game screams "Micro Machines". And that's good. I was curious, so I bought this title. Until now, it didn't let me down. The controls are tight and after a few minutes of getting used to them, you can handle your tiny car with precision. Sound effects are ok and the music is a perfect fit for the game. After Scoring 7000 Points in total, you can even switch between day and night. This might still be an early access title BUT it already is so much fun.
I loved Micro Machines and there is so much potential here that I'm pretty sure I will love the finished game.
BUT there are a few issues - so let's get to the cons:
- Screen text is a little overdone - Every time something is written on the screen, your view is blocked.
You hit something and some text covers your car, so you don't know how your car is orientated after the crash, leading to some unnecessary deaths.
- This might be a bug but sometimes enemy cars can pretty much make you crash into things. This sometimes happens if an opponent crashes into you from behind. The opponent then seems to be stuck to your back. All of a sudden, I can't steer the car anymore until I crash into something. Most of the time the opponent even gets away with it. However, this doesn't happen very often but it is frustrating
But these are only two minor things that hopefully will be tackled during development. So, if you are looking for a modern Micro Machines game - you found it. I can only speak for single-player mode because I didn't get the chance to play a multiplayer game. But still - this is early access, this is great, and it reminds me of the times when me and my friends gathered around the screen to play some Micro Machines. Well done!
Finally someone that was able to translate the Micro Machines feel to a new game. The tracks are fun. Currently no online multiplayer but you can use Steam's remote Play Together to us ethe local multiplayer options with friends online.
@Dev: Try to add a track builder so people can create their own tracks. Add online multiplayer with leaderboards.
@Everyone else: If you are into fun arcade racers and loved Micro Machines, get this game. It is a no brainer at it's current price, which is more than fair.
Keyboard didn't drive the car. Went to the options to change the controls. No control options.
Very enjoyable. I wish I could use my wheel. XBox controller works fine but it's nice to have options.
I agree with another review that the notification during racing is obtrusive and should be minimized or put in a corner. I suppose the surprise restarts are part of the strategy. It's not a deal breaker.
Overall, pretty fun. Looking forward to updates and more smiles per gallon!
Tried to play through steam link. Works fine with only 1 controller and single player, but as soon I have more than one controller none of them work. There's no options in the game to setup or change the controllers or event to check if it's registering them correctly. Bought to play with friends but can't.
This is a lot of fun to play with a friend. It's a whole $3 which makes it a good price point and you don't mind that there's no vehicle customization or real unlocks because of that. I definitely recommend this for playing with a friend, but I will say that with only 12 levels, split between 2 environments, it's a little sparse. I do feel like you're getting your money's worth, but I think some DLC exploring more tiny race environments for $1-2 each (6 maps x 1 area) would be reasonable to make this have more playability over time. As-is you'll be done with everything the game has to offer within about 30-40 minutes.
Excellent game. The creators put on a lot of creativity to bring this up and the survival race idea is amazing. Great job guys, keep it going.
This game far exceeded my expectations!!
I agree with someone who wrote a review saying "it's almost like stealing from the developers". It is very cheap for what it delivers (in fact I still don't get the price so low, maybe because it is in Early Access ...).
After unlocking all the tracks, we spent a lot of time having so much fun at Free For All Mode! 4 people playing it is insane!
The lack of an online multiplayer would be a serious problem for a game like this if it weren't for Steam's Remote Play Together. Luckily because of this steam feature we were able to have a lot of fun playing online, so maybe that can be disregarded. If you are playing on the keyboard, just remember to previously agree on which keys each player of the remote play together will play (after all you are supposed to be playing on the same keyboard via stream ... it took us a while to realize this).
I also think that just 2 environments is too little. For the finished game I think at least one more room would be needed. This is probably the most important point and also the most difficult to solve.
But anyway… the game is in Early Access and I saw that the developers seem to be paying attention to the feedbacks and solving them. I only played the latest 2 versions and based on the requests I saw, the developers seem to be solving them quickly, since most are already ok in the versions I played.
Can`t wait for the official release!
Good luck!
Nice presentation and gameplay, cant go wrong for 2 quid
I decided not to by a coke today... and instead bought this game.. Lets just sum it up as very well worth the admission price.
Pros..
-Brings me back to playing micro machines as a kid
-You tell the developers are working truly on a passion project
-Cars handle perfect and easy to pick up
-You can play with one hand, whilst the other is gently cradling a fine cognac or cigar
-Music reminds me of Pulp Fiction, yet fits perfectly
-AI cars are well programmed (using break isn't necessary to hit corners but overcrowding and/or avoiding the stampeded can be avoided with this precious key)
-I'd pay $4.50 for even one night of nostalgia
Cons..
-No online
-Not enough maps
What I'd like to see..
-First off the biggest one would be if I could choose how many bot cars joined me on any given map. This would create a far longer replay ability, because of right now the majority of the maps are dare I say it.. Tutorials, and lacking a proper challenge.
-More maps please or variations of current ones
-A map editor would be amazing so we could play popular fan map variations
-I really like the damage system but I think if you clear the pack and drive a perfect single course, you should get a 10% damage fix. This would create a further sense or concentration and thrill. Say, to bring your car back from 1% to 11% and just sneak through..
Other then that.. I just really enjoyed racing and would love to see more content. I've played games long enough to know that these developers are good people. So happy to support this passion project. 5*
Solid rework of the classic style for modern machines. Game is a fantastic start to what could be the spiritual successor to the Micro Machines series!
However, the game isn't very extensive, with only 12 levels, 24 if you count the 'lights out' variants. The store page advertises Local Multiplayer AND Regular Multiplayer, I has wrongly assumed this was Online multiplayer. The game took me just under and hour to download, play through and leave this review.
This game sees continued support from the developers and regular updates, so I trust this game will continue to evolve into something greater.
Simplified;
Pros
-Solid Graphics
-Nostalgia
-Simple Controls
-Fun, Quick gameplay
Cons:
-Criminally short playthrough time (30-40min)
-No connection-based multiplayer
I still however recommend this title, as it shows promise to become more!
Perhaps the addition on time trials, Team races with AI, or other variants of just driving!
if it had multiplayer it could be GOTY
Cool game, hopefully they add a track where you're on a pool/snooker table! Maybe add boat, Helicopter and other cool levels. If you liked micro machines, chances are you'd probably like Tinker races.
Apparently I am not old enough to understand the reference of Micromachines. I first bought this game to play it online and I confess that my first impression was not the best one after I discovered that it had only local multiplayer.
But then a fun fact happened. As it is only local multiplayer, I convinced my father to play with me and he did got the reference!! Within minutes he started saying that the game looked a lot like a game he loved to play... guess the name of the game! LOL
I don't remember playing a game for so long with him.
The coop mode of the bedroom was relatively easy, the kitchen was a little more difficult, but I confess that the office was very challenging. But the great potential of this game for me is in the FFA matches
It is not a spectacular game due to the amount of content, but it is quite fun to play, especially multiplayer. We had a good time with a lot of competition. LOL
And for the price charged, it was very worth it!
Remember Micromachines ? Well its that and thats great if only it had a few more game modes like races rather than survival but otherwise solid fun for a few quid
Good for some casual fun, easy to play
The game itself has potential and does everything semiogre within love of MicroMachines francies but fall little bit short for content. One game mode with you vs team bots are not fun on long run. Even with Micromachine veterans multiplayer don't have wings to be interesting. If I need nostalgia I go to play original MM or v3.
Addictive from the tutorial!
The developer really got the physics right.
If you used to played micro machines, you can't go wrong with this one!
This is a great game, considering the cost. It is really funny to play with others. The scenarios are creative. Hoping for more levels if possible.
This is a fantastic game. I really loved it !!! From the art style to the physics of the car, every aspect of the game is well implemented, and most important it's a game where you have fun !!!
I hate this game for making me play it again just to complete the newly implemented achievements (and I thought I didn't care about achievements LOL).Achievements was definitely something that was missing in the game.
I am happy to see that new game modes will be added. The game was fun enough, but it was very short with just one (single player) mode. Certainly, for those who play local multiplayer, the Free For All mode can greatly extend the game time. But for me, as a single player, the experience was that I wish there was more content. I hope the new modes will solve this.
Waiting for the official release to beat developer`s records!
In the end, I highly recommend this game for the care that it took to replicate the experience of playing the classic Micromachines!
I loved the game. Very fun and with amazing graphics. I'm having a lot of fun.
It reminded me a lot of the game series "Micro Machines". I really liked that!
Very easy to adapt to the controls and with physics of the game.
Congrats to the devs!
I would pay a lot more just for the nostalgia of having the experience of playing Micromachines again! Great tribute to the game! Great game !!! Very very fun !!
Felt like sat in my bedroom playing with my friends in our made-up race tracks! Nice and polished. Once you start playing it is hard to leave aside. Such a cool game! Can't wait to try multi-playing this one...
Look, I don't need to play this game for 20 hours to understand its intentions and what it achieved. This game is a spiritual successor to the classic micromachine series and I am a fan, as soon as I saw this I bought it. I will get hours of playtime out of this over the remaining years of my life and I am thankful for that.
My one and only criticism is there is no online multiplayer which is sad but it makes me hopeful for their future projects and I'm happy to give them my money :)
A great little game that captures the feel of micro machines but for modern systems minus the weapons and as such I can easily recommend the game to anyone who has played those games especially for the price.
As for the game itself it's well made and the only issues I could really talk about were some slight audio bugs with the motor sounds cutting out occasionally when other sounds activate and maybe the AI being a little easy to beat but other than that the game is well made. I hope that the devs continue to work on this as its a very refreshing title to play as there really isn't anything like micro machines anymore.
Wonderful nostalgia, when I played with my brothers in our room and always lost for not understanding the rules :(, now I can train and then I will invite them for my rematch! :)
First review ever... Actually, this game was tons of fun for well over an hour with friends. We used steam remote play and it worked perfectly, no lag, nothing (I even streamed the game on twitch while doing this and no issues).
We only played the campaign mode and it was just too much fun. Totally worth for $3!!!
Would love to see more tracks and cars (F1 maybe?) in the future!
Great work on this game devs!
Cute and satisfying nostalgia trip, inspired by the Micro Machines racing games. Get some friends together on the couch for a good time with this. There's only 3 race track types at time of writing, but for the pocket-money pricetag I really can't complain.
I really liked how the game was careful to capture the essence of Micromachines: the elimination mechanics, the topdown view, the tracks around the house, the shouting when playing with friends haha ... But all in a 3d and more modern style. The game ends relatively quickly and leaves you wanting to play more tracks, but for $ 3 it is much more than I expected. But then, just go to Free For All matches with friends! Recommended!
Game is so far okay for casual racing players. I haven't tried multiplayer on either online or local. The game itself provides the right amount of rage to keep you trying again should you fail. Hope the controller support gets some improvement, especially the joystick of xbox controller.
A great casual game to play with friend! Had so much fun. Highly recommended!
This game has really nice mechanics and theme. It is a mixture of Speedrunners (on wheels) and casual top-down view racing games.
Campaign is really nice, but the real fun comes on the co-op mode, at least for me.
If you like casual co-op games to play with friends, I definetly recommend it.
Tinker Races is a really funny game to play alone or with your friends! You can aim for the top score or just troll your friends and destroy their cars! The gameplay is very fluid, the graphics are very beautiful, and the music is really good! The campaing has a great learning curve and is challenging as you progress through it! I loved the achievements too, I can't wait to beat the game 100% and to play with my friends at our house parties, after we beat this pandemic of course! (:
Update 08/28/2020: The devs responded to the review within hours of my posting it and helped me find where the ability to actually race was hidden away. That brought some fun to the game. I'm still not the greatest fan of the "get so far ahead of the other player" way to win in the campaign (since that's how you unlock tracks) it's a small price to pay for having the ability to actually race.
Good game. Not perfect, but well worth the price asked. Would recommend.
Original Review:
I actually have a little more time in the game than it says for some reason. Last time I played for 10-15 mins and it only added one minute to my game time. I've probably got around 45-50 mins in total.
(I've only played the singleplayer in the game)
There's only one thing about this game that I hate. That this isn't really a racing game in the traditional sense. So, you do race other little cars, but the "race" ends when you (or they) get too far in front of the other. So you don't make laps, you race little parts of a lap. First person (or ai) to get to five victories wins the track and moves on.
Everything else about the game is cool though. Love the look, reminds me of the old Micro Machines game on Genesis. But I don't know if there's a setting I need to change, but not being able to really race a track makes this game little to no fun. If there's something I need to change so I can do actual races, someone please let me know in the comments. But as it stands, I've got to rate it negative.
Great concept, design and delivery. The game has 0 issues. However the AI is really sub-par and so the game gets very boring very quick. I wish they offered multiplayer with steam friends rather than just couch co-op. It would make the game amazing. Buy the game if you're into this genre because it is very creative, but mind you it will get stale real quick !
is there only one map to play?i cant find way to change it
it's a good game i love it. but i think it needs some improvements with the camera and multiplayer. and I think it would be awesome if it had a steam workshop
Im going to be brutally honest; this game is.....ehhh
the basic driving physics are the best thing about this game; and given that top-down racing is old hat now, that should be expected, not praised. For a survival racer; the game is very hard to do any actually surviving or take-downing in. You have no stationary pivot ability- so if you get stuck youve already lost the point pretty much; the ai outnumbers you but is on the same team which is a SEVERE handicap for you the player, many obstacles are too close to the track or even ON it but in such a way that you cant see them properly to avoid them; the 'tracks' are far too narrow for a top-down driving game, and the slightest bump sends you careening into the void faster than a scene kid in a renault clio.
Oh and did i mention the first point will be the ai's most of the time becuase the camera gets stuck and the ai is usually ahead of you to begin with- so ontop of being outnumbered you're also down a point most games?
This game has the makings of something great- but it needs A LOT of work. first of all, adjust the core slightly- either make it 3/4 view sometimes or asjust the track design. next; add hazards that the aid can actually be struck by instead of just the player, add powerups for health and ways of damaging your foes, and maybe add more and better shortcuts.
I loved this game, fun with a light climate, the scenery is very detailed and the gameplay very tasty, I strongly recommend the game. (note: play with a friend sharing the screen)
Although it is a relatively small game, it is clear that it is a passionate project created by fans of Micromachines. The last update fixed the problems I had when playing via Remote Play Together previously. Support for controllers has also improved a lot. Sometimes we needed to check which controller was which car at each race. All these problems are gone now. I have nothing to complain about anymore, and that was the best $3 I spent this month! Recommended!
While I desperately wait for the new mario kart live, I think I can have some fun with this cute little game LOL. But really, why is this only $3? Charge more for it and put online multiplayer on it! Anyway, I had a lot of fun with this!
I loved playing this game. Too bad it only has 3 rooms. My 8 year old son also loves this game.
It reminds me of playing Micro Machines on the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive)
If only it had more rooms and tracks to play. Hopefully more content to come...?
2020/11/21 - Developers gave me access to BETA version to test. Tested with 2x Logitech wireless F710's and it worked flawlessly. Is a fun game. Changing my review to YES.
2020/11/16 - Developers reached out (see reply below). Will work to troubleshoot the issue with the Logitech wireless remotes and will report back if anything changes.
So I purchased this game on sale for $2.30 CAD. Figured it would be fun for a group of friends or family to play together. Even if only for a couple hours here and there, the price is not much. I've played ~16 minutes and will never play again. Do not recommend the purchase.
However, my experience was unfortunately quite the opposite. The menus did not work well when using my wired Logitech F310 game pad, e.g. could not select 'QUIT' from the game pause menu. Using the mouse it worked as expected. I beat the tutorial by myself and then set up a multiplayer race with my sons. I was using my F310 and they were used wireless Logitech F710 game pads. Race starts and they are wildly all over the place and frustrated as the game is not responding to their inputs. I then give it a try and note that the latency between the wireless game pad and the reaction in game made it absolutely unplayable. Have never experienced this with any other game - Sonic, Lego series, Jurassic Park Evolution, and anything else I've played with the wireless game pads this does not happen. I have thousands of hours of gaming with the wireless game pads and even tried out other titles after Tinker Racers yesterday and no lag.
I'm not sure what the problem is and how it's inducing lag, but I just can't recommend this game.
Pure Micromachines nostalgia! Highly recommended. So much fun with friends!
This game is fun, local multiplayer and give us a lot of inspiration ! (my kids made a real track on my home office). Turn of the lights and bring the madness ! I love it !
Great game! If you play alone, expect a cheap cool game. But with 2 or more players, the real fun begins. With 4 players, the room will start to get really noisy. You can expect angry neighbors and a broken keyboard.
I’m really looking forward play it with 8 Players! The chaos will rules! I imagine the neighbors calling the police and things like that. Unfortunately it becomes more and more rare to be with 8 friends playing together :(
OH BOY
this is what micro machines world tour should have been
this game perfectly gets the micro machines feeling from the old games
love it
stunned that an indi developer done this better than the big boys
well done ,
granted it does have minor issues and bugs but there is not many
this game when i got it was on sale for 1.99
and i had never seen it before i bought it and i am glad i did
9/10 for sure get this game we need too support the smaller developers
controllers work good
tested with
xbox one controller
So far this is my favorite Micro Machines reboot to date, and I've played several. It has it's learning curve and some minor bugs, but these things can turn on a dime cuz they're almost the same size! The music is really catchy, the graphics are more than I could ask for. I really like how each track expands. Man, the CPU can pit maneuver you in the blink of an eye, so can a pencil that wasn't there on the previous lap so you definitely always have to be on your game. I really hope more tracks are released, I'd pay for that DLC. I must say though, popped popcorn causes damage?!? Let's try to keep our feet in reality here. Great game for dirt cheap.
Simple very fun concept. There is no finish line. Just out race everyone else.
Developers MUST add online multi to this.
If you liked Micromachines when you were younger, you will not go wrong buying this game! Pure nostalgia is what I feel! Recommended
I really liked this tribute to Micromachines! I loved playing the original versions back in the 90s. Nostalgia defines this game! Excellent job considering it was done by a small indie studio. I definitely would like to see more tracks in the future!
I found Tinker Racers yesterday and have a lot of fun. I could remember when I was a child playing with my little cars all over my mothers house. I couldnt stop playing this game ... When I check the clock I played more than 4 hours and I just dont realized that was so much time ... Its amazing I do recommend !
Great proof that Unity 3D physics is not capable of creating a fun MM clone.
The starting grids are so tight that you collide before the race even starts. Most tracks have so many cars that it's just random who makes it out of the starting grid pile up. Camera zoom seems broken sometimes it will let cars get way behind other times you get wiped out for just falling behind the pack.
Also, what is that with all the AI scoring as 1 player?
Nice try but the original is way better.
Highly recommended
It's great fun
I've not smiled and cursed so much since the mid 90's..... nailed it fellas :)
A very easy to jump into, micro machines style racer with decent physics. The items in the world move when hit and the tracks evolve over a race from debris. Its easy to jump on and play a race or 2 without feeling like you need to commit a huge amount of time. As of review the game could use a bit of polish but its great fun.
Awesome game, wish there were more levels, but you definitely get your moneys worth. It is like a modern version of the micromachines game, well done!
Have to say, on the one hand, it is glitchy and rough as a badgers arse BUT , THE DRIVING IS SPOT ON PERFECT.
Feels exactly like old skool micro machines, the driving phsyics AND the impact physics. The general track chaos hits the vibe of Sega Megadrive era micromachines too. So many attempts have been made to replicate top down driving, and Circuit Breakers on the PS1 was the only one that came close. Toybox Turbos is 90000% times more polished but nudging other cars in that is WOEFUL by comparison.
Diamond in the rough here. Wish these dudes all the goodwill in the world while they work on it, because what IS here is the first REALLY GOOD attempt to make something that really nails how it should feel ;)

on a second burst , after cooling off , LOVE IT.
Hopefully get a chance tomorrow to see how remote play races feel. *excite*
(btw the glitches are fine tbh, have had to restart 3 races Vs AI after 1/5 pts scored and a freeze that lets you restart in a second. Trivial !)
The game is similiar to the Micro Machines games, but with less level types. The time trials are frustrating as sometimes the game does not count the crossing of the goal line, and you have to go another round before you can even try to beat the time again. The AI cars are too easy.
TL;DR: The game has better graphics but is less fun than Micro Machines.
If like me you have severe tinnitus, being unable to turn off the terrible music is a major game breaker
First of I must say I love this game!
Like a lot of games on Steam, I randomly stumbled across this game by accident. I'm a big fan of top down racing games, but I also love the party style element as well. Back on the Playstation 1 I absolutely loved a game called Micro Maniacs. I spent many hours playing against my brother and friends, and had so much fun with it. You used different characters to race with, and the tracks were awesome to run around on and outwit your opponents.
This game reminds me a lot of Micro Maniacs, except your using vehicles and there aren't any weapons as such. The environments throws things at you (literally) which force you to concentrate on your driving line and navigate the obstacles but no actual weapons. This actually works quite well as its more about your driving skills and following the apexes and shortcuts to gain the best advantage.
There is no online multiplayer, but you can use the steam share feature to play online mp.
For £4 I would say this is a bargain and well worth it, just make sure you have some people to play with either on the couch or virtually for the most fun. Nice set of achievements too. :)
remind me of childhood in uganda while playing on the playstation 2
pretty cute small game
don't expect game of the year material, especially at that price
the game is a tribute to Micro Machines, as said by developers...and I honestly think it does its job well
As others have said, great little game in the vein of Codemasters MicroMachines from the 90s! (For those old enough to have played it!) Top down, fun racing game in Bedroom (Easy), Kitchen (Medium), and Office (Hard) settings. Great fun for Single Player or Multiplayer.
A few little glitches (like collision often turning off and you can drive straight though objects, and player 1 controller controlling 2 cars... ??) but you are able to work around it. (you may have to use keys if both gamepads dont play ball!).
After a few races with the kids and many hours of trying to beat the DEV times on each track, I clocked all up the achievements! Yah!
My tip: Do Single Race mode first on all tracks. Then try the time trials. You may get some early but you WILL learn the tracks fast and how to best navigate the obstacles. (Yes, you may have to move some out of the way to make some corners into straights!) Then go do Campaign mode, which should now be a little easier than jumping into it from the start! Finish off with the time trails.. after hours of trying!
I found the Office DEV times easier to beat than the Kitchen. More ways of saving time on longer tracks maybe? The kitchen has loads of tricky obstacles and some really tough times to beat! (no cheating when game bugs out! Die=Reset!)
All up, a fun no-brainer game, relaxing and stressful at the same time! lol Definately worth if on sale, or for your racing game collection or just some family fun!
Silly fun! Micromachines do not steer like cars at all, but this is not a simulation game (although trucks and monster trucks do have different physics). Simplistic control and local multiplayer on a shared screen make this a great short break game. Probably not for extended sessions though - too few tracks (18 I think, but they are mostly small variations of the same 3 tracks). If anything happens to this game, I'd love to see more tracks and more cars. And for the love of Odin, color customization!
It's fine, it's not broken, it's not offensive, but I'm pretty sure I experienced more excitement accelerating my 1994 Toyota Camry at a higher than usual but still responsible rate.
Not worth the money. I played it through in like 3 hours. The game is great, even though it has terrible music and like 15 tracks, which is a fraction of what i expected. Not recommended.
I am a big fan of the Micro Machines game series and enjoy this game. It's a lot of fun if you play it with friends.
A small downside is that it doesn't seem to have the option to remap the buttons, and I experienced some stuttering in the game menu. Currently there are only three themes for the race tracks - it would be cool to have billard (pool), garden, bathroom etc. themes as well, like in the micro machines games. Also, the brakes have a bit too much power, so I wasn't able to slide through the curves like in the old micro machines games.
In summary, I definitely recommend it. If you enjoyed Micro Machines and Toybox Turbos, give it a try.
Really really enjoyed this game, absolutely love the level design. Not sure what the local multiplayer is like I haven't tried it yet. I recommend the game for some quick instant fun
I would pay a lot more just for the nostalgia of having the experience of playing Micromachines again! Great tribute to the game! Great game !!! Very very fun !! Addictive from the tutorial! The developer really got the physics right.
If you used to played micro machines, you can't go wrong with this one!
The main menu is really buggy and lags out real bad. Settings don't do much to help here. I would rather have a more simple interface that is snappy rather the unbearable stuttering. Game is fun-ish, its comparable to microracers but not as exciting somehow. I know I only played for like 10 minutes but it crashed twice in that time. So, unless if you've got a rig that NASA would be jealous of, don't bother.
