I hate the writing in this game. There's way too much commentating and unnecessary tutorials throughout the levels- ironically there are times where you're not sure what the worlds want out of you.

but the puzzles are engaging and fun, you just gotta experiment. I didn't expect to like the game as much as I do. Was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the unique, stylistic features in each of the worlds & the movement is very smooth.

I like it.
but still, horrible writing

Surprising and polished collectathon that is unlike anything I've ever played. Katamari Damacy sprinkled with Mario and Spyro and has a huge amount of imagination. The in-game radar included in each level made tracking down collectables challenging but still fun, this really is an unappreciated gem that feels like if released in the PS1/PS2 era would have been a must have game.

if the game wasn't so incredibly buggy and broken it would have taken me a lot less time to finish. this is the kind of thing i expect from early beta builds. had to manually edit my save file to get the last achievement to trigger. also the dialog makes no sense whatsoever. the gameplay is fun when it works but it isn't often

Hm. I just can't really get into this game. I like similar kinds of puzzle experiences, but this one feels very open and obtuse. It doesn't feel good to explore, things aren't very clear. idk. I don't like the president character, he and the togges all talk too much for my liking and none of it matters.

I just really didn't enjoy this experience in any way.

This game is a good semi puzzly time waster. I had picked it up for something to kill a few minutes at a time on the Steam Deck which it did a good job of.
One complaint is that intermittently when pulling up the color menu the game will freeze. Hopefully there will be a fix for this at some point.

How can define Togges? Think about Pushmo meets Mario Galaxy!

A unique gameplay that use Togges (the little charismatic cubes) as a means of exploration (each colored Togge has different capabilities) and to solve puzzles in a well-crafted world that has the perfect size. Like in Mario Galaxy, you don't feel that the areas are oversized, so you get a itch to revisit and search each inch and try a different approach. "What if I do this way?" is a common thought you'll have.

The world itself is a puzzle in a sense, but one you solve organically. Either to advance or to get fruits, you need to have curiosity to explore in different ways. Experimentation is key.

Tech-wise, it's a colorful and polished world. It supports Ray-tracing (although for my personal taste, I end up preferring the 'normal' look) and DLSS. There isn't a selection for Balanced, Performance and Quality. It's on or off and, for me, It's better in the sense of user friendliness although the most tech-savy would like to have more options to mix and fine-tune.

I can see why the devs went this way.

On my Ryzen 5600 and RTX 3060 using Win 11, I hit 120fps with DLSS on resolutions between 1440p and 4k, with RT off. On my notebook with an I7-1165G7 and Iris Xe with TDP 30W, I play on 1280x800 above 40fps on Linux, using Proton. Works out of the box, just install and play. It should be great to play on Steam Deck, hitting 1280x800 and 60fps.

The greatest and most welcome surprise is the wonderful support for 21:9 AND the glorious 32:9 aspect ratios! Many games should take note, dammit!

I can see the effort the devs did to make a tight world that fosters exploration, a charismatic cast and a tech-wise well programmed and crafted world.

If you are looking for a different but familiar game, your time playing Togges will be a great one!

I must say this is another 3d platformers that I enjoyed(I am a big fan of the genre lol). I enjoyed how this game has a sandbox design so it has an open world feel to it as the map per level was very big compared to other sandbox 3d platformers
as there is so much to collect and the size of the stages were very big. The traversal system is very unique as you collect goodies by using blocks called togges that can be summoned by being adjacent to each other. This part will vary from person to person but the design philosophy(I don't know if intentional) has the concept of more than one solution in solving puzzles as you have different togges with different abilities and also power ups that can make some solutions much easier to solve than other methods to collect certain goodies (I swear the cloud power up was pretty overpowered in helping me collect some goodies compared to using togges for vertical exploration. but at the same time it felt so good to have that absolute freedom).

This game definitely had its flaws(do not know if patch fixed it as I 100% now) as the horse was difficult to steer as its turning was so bad that I fall so much times. I also didn't see the point for the black keyholes as the radar power up helps you find goodies anyway and also this is my personal feeling but I feel like the stages were way too big(can take 4-5 hours for me to good all the goodies), it makes banjo tooie seem small in comparison. The dialogue also didn't interest me much which is easily solved by the skip button they have.

Overall I had my gripes but I think the game eventually started to grow on me thanks to some of the patches fixing some of the games problems(originally can only carry one power up for example) and there is a lot of love and passion put into it with its beautiful cartoonish visuals and creative traversal gameplay. I think an 8.5-9/10 for me for 28.95 aud for 40hrs of content it is very worth it.

I like this game, I overall enjoyed my time with it, and for the price you're getting quiiiite a lot of game here, but good lord does it have problems.

For starters, the togge connecting mechanic is... inconsistent. It's fine when you're just solving puzzles but anything execution-based, I don't trust to work correctly, 'cause it often... doesn't. And considering the long ring challenges in each world especially, or the slow, tedious final boss... doesn't lead to much fun! Puzzle design can also be a bit... moon logic, the desert in the carrot cake kingdom is a particularly bad offender but there's plenty of stuff you'd never figure out without the radar all over the place. And some stuff I've "solved" that feels unintended, but easier than whatever the "intended" solution was.

I also think levels are just... too large, especially considering how poor the game's save system is. Some elements will save when you quit out. Others will not. Good luck figuring out which is which. It can take hours to clear levels in this game entirely, so that just... doesn't sit well. Splitting up these levels into smaller chunks - especially considering how little interconnectivity there is between different regions of zones aside from the aforementioned ring challenges... yeah, I wouldn't mind losing them entirely if it meant a better experience.

Also, minor nitpick, but some achievements just flat do not work. I had to pop the achievements for 100%ing the last level and getting all fruits manually even though the "100% everything" achievement popped just fine. There's also one missable achievement for some reason. No others, just the one. Okay.

I get the sense that a lot of love and care went into this game but there's just a lot of small areas in which it's clear game design wasn't quite considered well enough and I often found myself frustrated with this game. But again... I enjoyed it overall, even if I ended up putting it down for like, a month due to the aforementioned desert area really getting on my nerves. It was fun. i'm not sure I could recommend it and it doesn't feel particularly essential but it's worth checking out if you're curious.

Fun game! Really unique and interesting. The blocks mechanics are really clever, the visuals are vibrant, the music surprised me a lot, and I laughed a few times while playing.

A little hard to understand at first, but after you understand how it works, it starts to feel natural.

I played a demo for this game at PAX East 2022 and it was very fun then. It's still fun now that it's been released! It's extremely weird, though, so keep that in mind. I would compare it to Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker, Super Mario Galaxy, and Katamari Damacy. Weird but very satisfying to interact with.
