This game would be so much more awesome if it had just put on the brakes and thought about what people like in game before they threw out this "click-fest" on the market! I like the ships, the few upgrades it has, I like the premise and I like the cool factor in that no other game really hits on this, except maybe Sid's Railroad Tycoon series. And, there Is where I would make my point. You have to click on the ship marker on the map, EVERYTIME one of your ships make port on the map, and after a while when your company grows and you have plenty of ships, you find that's all your doing. Nothing is automated, no cool netowrks you can direct, no competition out there, at least in the sandbox. So your literally just clicking about 20 clicks per minute...at least, and you know your wrist gets tired. Well, this narrows the game somewhat as they probably didn't want to add a stock market, business mechanics, AI that would compete against you and a multiplayer. So think of this game as semi cool game that just misses its potential in a lot of different areas. Buy it cheap. Hope for a more indepth sequel down the road. And, altough I recommend it, I only recommend it cheap.

Niche game. Ignore the low reviews. If you enjoy management games like this then it will be totally worth the purchase. If spreadsheet simulators aren't your cup of tea then you probably won't find it as fun.

Great game to pass the time. Excellent simulation, and the option to not have to dock at every port is great too.

Good time sink. Gets a little repetitive after awhile but if you have a couple hours to kill there are worse ways to spend them. A little expensive at normal price but ususally included in the seasonal sales.

Great game!

Huge variety of ships and and locations with a unique online influenced player economy that keeps things fresh. If you know what you are doing you can blow through the game and get the best ships in 6-8 hours but thta doesnt mean you cant make some pretty sweet challenges for yourself using the immense variety. For example, try and get to the highest rank in the game by using and upgrading only the lowest tear of ships. You can buy the ships you need to level up but dont actually do anything with them. It ends up creating a pretty fun hardcore experience. And that is just one of a whole bunch of different modes you can make yourself due to the open ended world and economy. The game can have some slow points and guff (having a minimum amount of completed contracts to level up can suck), the game is a real fun exploration of basic economics.

Not a bad game. It is very simplistic but is a good relaxer just for watching money come in and ships go by if you're feeling like not doing much other than managing your small but growing ship empire.

I rely heavily on reviews before I purchase a game. Lately it seems that even the ones rated mostly positive haven't been anything I could even play for an hour. However this one is enjoyable. Its a good management game with some challenges but yet not too difficult to where it takes the fun out of the game. It could use a few more challenges to add more play time to it but overall its worth a thumbs up for me.

I don't normally write reviews however I'm so passionate about this game I can't hold off.

TL;DR: Great Game!

Long and Full Review:

(Spoilers, Duh!)

Gameplay:
The gameplay in this game is fantastic, it's both a mix of ship simulator extremes & rollercoaster tycoon. Basically, the main premise is to build up a large shipping company and become sucessful. You start off with a investment from an investor, you buy a ship, accept contracts and more. You also have the option to manually dock or cast off your ship (which is a bit sensitive and unrealistic but the game is about the managment side more) or you can pay a tug to do it for you (depending on the size of your vessel the price varies).

Mechanics:

The game has fantastic mechanics. Including: Servicing (if you don't service your ship it can actually sink), fueling, pirate attacks, medical emergancies on board and more. It also features a fantastic bank loan system which is amazing for getting your buisness up and running. The Investor also takes more money as you get larger. So if you have 500 million in the bank the investor typically takes 15% of that every quarter so that'd be 75,000,000 she'd get. You need to make sure you don't go over your contract timing too or you'll get a contractual penalty.
When choosing a contract you can deliver all types of goods from timber, plastic, chemicals and illegal goods. If you choose the illegal goods, your ship could run into the coast guard and be seriously fined. (I've been fined 45 million once for illegal goods, not fun!)

Overall:

If wanted to dock a ship or become a large buisness tycoon then this game is for you. it's extremely underrated and completely worth the money.

(P.S Bugs: This game doesn't have much bugs at all. It has 1 for what I can see but it's so small you probably wouldn't notice it.)

Ever wanted to run a shipping company? Then this is your game.

It's very relaxing to play, specially as you maneuver your mammoth ship around trying to dock them without hitting other things. Other ships can be total clowns and get in your way.

The financial management aspect is ok, and I wish there were more options for cargo and ship and cities and contracts.

Still, deep enough to provide a good amount of fun.

First off - I am very disappointed. There was entirely too much time spent on "Docking Simulator" and not nearly enough on the actual shipping management game. I'd gotten interested in this game after playing a tablet game (Ship Tycoon) that sparked an interest. I had hoped that a PC game that had a similar theme would expand on the idea and improve it. Boy, was I surprised, and not in a good way.

First off, there's the ridiculous amount of effort put into the "Docking Simulator". [If I wanted to actually *pilot* a ship, I would have looked for a different game.]

Next, there's the contract selection interface that has absolutely no way to usefully *filter* contracts.

There's no way to figure out the actual expected *profitability* of any of the contracts.

Don't even get me started on understanding the different contracts. It took me reading guides and forums here to even get an inkling about "customs" and what that does.

And, finally - the game just isn't any fun. There's so much clicking around with a clunky interface.

[As a final note - I have requested a Steam refund, although it has been (initially) denied since I had too many playtime hours - which is what it took to realize how fundamentally "broken" this game is.]

Leaving a positive review for this game, considering I actually liked Deck13 Hamburg at this point in time, and their future seemed promising. 4 years in, and this is still their best effort, completely mucking about follow-ups and making a worse and worse iteration of both their game engine and this game again and again.

Not sure why you guys are consistently not listening to your fanbase, and seem to always opt to make baffling game decisions, but why not check out some of the positive feedback from this game, and instead of dumbing it down and making it "streamlined and simplified", how about making the games more complex, mature and intelligent?

A few words about this game in particular; its a competently made update of Ports of Call, with sufficient game mechanics, colorful and clear UI, and a fun grind for several hours. Still a bit light on content and variation, but its well worth its price. Get it on sale, or better yet; get various mobile phone ports of this game idea for free that is just as good. After awhile you aren't gonna do the Ports of Call-style port berthings anyway.

I have enjoyed playing this game. After awhile it can be little bit of the same thing over and over. Maybe there could be some more do with control from different views from inside the ships. Even have an option to help unload the ships.

TwoStones
TwoStones

Interesting game, but not even nearly worth the price.

Ship models are oversimplified, graphics are mediocre.
There is no weather (except simplistic events), no real waves, which one would expect in a naval game.
Hardware optimization is terrible, even with quite powerfull card I get 15 FPS when trying to look into far and only 50% GPU usage at the same time!! If I reduce the details, the FPS is the same. (CPU around 40%)

Additional remarks: Instead of engine power, you set the ship speed, which is the same whether you are going empty or full... The one big image that matters, that is the map of the Earth is in a horrible low resolution, what is it, 1024x768? How the hell can they spoil such a key element and not create the map detailed enough!!!
The ships stop on the spot, not literally, but 50-150 meters is enough to stop a giant transport ship full of containters if you kill the engine... Cmon' guys, ever seen a real ship? Even small river steamboat has some serious inertia and will continue in the direction unless reverse thrust is applied.
"Sailing around a reef" event takes 4 days to complete on a journey from Dakar to Jeddah which takes 12 days as a whole...

I am so upset, because I generally like the game and its fun and everything, but it could be so much better and somehow at least a bit realistic. Yes, it could eventually become a professional title worth more than 20 EUR. I was tempted to return it but the campain hooked me in so I'm getting some fun out of this... I think it is worth like 5 or maybe 7 EUR tops.

Pros: They modelled a lot of ports in kind of Ok 3D. Nothing to get excited tho, if they used the energy to create better map... Jesus christ you keep staring at this pixelated map for all the hours. You only visit a port once in a while and then it gets boring.

This is without question the best game I have played in recent years. Despite having played many titles from Triple-A shooters to indie games I find myself coming back to this most often. There is something very satisfying yet calming about playing this game. There are elements of coordination, simulation and strategy. It's accessible on the easy levels but difficult on the hard ones, it's a reliable game and will run on a good range of hardware. One of my favourite elements is the soundtrack: while there isn't that much material what there is is really really well done and somehow I never get bored of it. I feel like spiritually this is one of the successors to transport tycoon and I always make sure I have transocean installed on my PC no matter what. I would absolutely recommend this game but don't be pulled into the trap of going for the second one which is generally considered to not be as good as the original.

I honestly can't remember how much I paid for this, but I don't think its worth more than about $5. It's just so repetitive after a bit. Once I was able to get the biggest ships I just got bored. I don't really see the point of the game after that. Also certain things really bother me. The guide on how to play shows up once during the main game and once you press okay most of the information is gone forever. No guide at all to reference on actual gameplay which is crazy! And on company contracts many times the ships couldn't be loaded more than halfway. Are you serious???? The point is to reach a certain amount of a single good delivered to a single port..... Load that thing up!!!! So annoying. Anyways, I'd recommend if it's cheap or on sale. I've gotten over 40 hours of mostly enjoyment, but I'm glad I don't remember how much I paid for it because I'm sure I'd regret that

The reason for so many "mixed" reviews for this game, as a look through the discussions will tell you -- is that it was simply unplayable. Constant crashes, ludicrous lag, and frustrating frame-rate plunges meant that no matter how great this game looked and sounded - for a great many people, actually playing it was not an option. I was one of them.

I purchased it over a year ago but after trying everything I could find to get it working, gave up and wrote it off, as Steam has this policy of not refunding those who actually try to see if they can get a seemingly unplayable game to work before asking "too late" for a refund. ;)

But now - I am so glad that I did not get one. :)

After some recent sea-time, I decided to have one last go at getting this beast up and running. I read every topic I could find alluding to it being broken in some way, and eventually came across a couple of posts saying that all their issues were sorted simply by running the game in Steam's "Online" mode (which I usually never do). It seemed a bit far fetched to think that all these seemingly graphics/coding related crashes/bugs would be magically fixed by such a simple action, but I tried it, and remarkably -- it actually works!!! :)

I simply start Steam in Online mode, fire up the game, and then disconnect the internet, and TransOcean now runs like a dream! I've logged over 40 hours of sea-time during the course of the last few days, with not a single crash, blip or hiccup. So if you are one of those who gave up on the game, then please do try this for yourself. Such a simple solution really does work. :)

Onto the game itself, it is an absolute gem!

Even on my older system playing with some of the lower graphics settings (turning off post-processing completely really helps with game speed for me) the game environment looks absolutely gorgeous. Gameplay I have found to be highly addictive in the "just one more turn" sense. Once you have a few ships to your fleet, unlike many games, there are very few natural places to pause for a break and detach from the gameworld for a while, as there is almost always something happening somewhere in the world that needs your attention. So it is always a case of -- "oh, ok, I'll just dock this last one before shutting down for the night". Then, "oh - a fire has broken out on one of my vessels!? I can't just leave it, I'll have to deal with this first." Once I've done that, there will always be something else. I can regularly just lose 3-4 hour chunks of time in the blink of an eye, and wonder - "where the hell did that go? How can it possibly be five o clock in the morning!?"

So yes, TransOcean: The Shipping Company is an incredibly immersive game, that I find captivates my attention way more than is likely good for my health or social life. It is incredibly difficult to stop playing. I had to drag myself away to finally write this review. ;)

Unlike many trading based games, where immersion factor is influenced by the sheer depth of control you have over the most minutest of details you can bring under your micro-management, TransOcean's appeal is that it eschews this approach with a focus on simplicity of interaction, in order to generate the feel of a super-fast-paced action-packed world, in which there is always something else that needs your attention RIGHT NOW. Another vessel needs docking. These contracts need finalising with your signature. Always new shipping routes need to be planned to maximise your revenue from the next venture. A fire has just broken out onboard your long-haul ULCV in the middle of the ocean miles from the nearest port, with millions of £$€ worth of merchandise at imminent risk, not to mention the ship itself. Your fleet requires constant vigilance and maintenance to remain in top seaworthy condition, but all the while a vessel is down, it is not making any money and is incurring docking fees. You cannot stop for a moment, and I find this method of gameplay to be most engaging.
It also throws up the odd moral dilemma too -- like whether to stop and rescue some random castaways from drowning at the expense of large contractual penalties for not meeting your delivery deadline. These lovely Algerian lads are offering me SIXTEEN MILLION € to usher a measly 42 TEU of Hash over the road to Valencia. I could almost throw it over from here! But is it worth the risk of getting caught? And your reputation in the game will be affected by your choices too. :)

A top hidden gem of game if you love the sea and have an interest in the shipping industry, or just trade-based games in general. Would highly recommend!

It captures the basic idea of maritime trade but it's limited in terms of only dealing with containerization which is fine but that only makes a fraction of the modes that shipping companies use (i.e. bulk, liquid, etc.). Very little in the ways of representing the legal side of things but to be fair, this is an arcade game set around this industry which I can't fault them for.

The gameplay itself is very straightforward and is something you get the hang of within an hour or two. Company contracts are a little bit more realistic than the rest of the game and advancing levels is what drove me to play for so long but the later gameplay gets to be a little to a decent amount of grind.

Definitely get it if it's on sale. Haven't played the new title but apparently it's hardly different which is a shame because I would have loved if they brought in new ship and good types like, break bulk, chemical, crude oil, cars and other types of transportation.

It's repetitive to a certain degree like any odd tycoon game but I thoroughly enjoy the calculations needed for fuel, cargoes, vessels etc. to ultimately make a profit. The campaign is challenging and does take time to complete. Had played a pirated version of it a few years ago, then went ahead and bought the full version because I liked it so much. Absolutely recommended!

If you like management sims, THIS is your game.

Kazandaki
Kazandaki

TL;DR: If you are going to buy this game for the ship maneuvering, don't. Can't speak for the management system.

Little bit of background so you know I'm not talking out of my ass, I am a mariner who has seen a fair share of ship maneuvers and I currently work at a marine simulation center that mainly handles ships' maneuver. Currently I conduct, help with and observe dozens of maneuvers each week in simulators that are by certificate, and by my own experiences, very true to real life.

I bought this game mainly for the maneuvers instead of the management, and refunded it after half an hour of playtime. Maneuvering in this game is terrible for a number of reasons;

1- What's a planning?
Half an actual maneuver is planning. To be able to complete a maneuver successfully, you need information beforehand. This game has none of that, I understand this is a management sim and not a ship handling sim but come on. There IS a port chart available but it's only in mini map form so you cannot see the pier/dolphin etc you are supposed to dock before you get close to it, yet alone any ships that may be leaving port.

2- What's a ship handling?
Tactical diameter? What's that? We out here drifting. Stopping distance? You stop the engine and the ship stops within the second because it's actually a car. In fact, that's exactly what these ships are, sluggish cars. They speed up and down and stop way too quickly. They listen to the helm too quickly and drift an insane amount while turning. You can go from full speed ahead to full speed astern in around 2 seconds. The world would be a different place if actual ships could do that. Also again with a lack of information, what angle is the helm at? Idk, take a guess. What's the heading? Uhhhh.
Oh and the funniest part? There IS a compass but it shows the direction of the camera and the position of the ship relative to the camera instead of actually useful information like, y'know, the ship's course or her heading.

3- What's a tug boat?
OK I kind of understand this one a little but it still bugged me. Normally tug boats don't maneuver for you and moor your ship just like that, they are just an extra force added to help you maneuver that YOU as the cpt. or the pilot command. In this game when you call tug boats you instantly berth. Like I said, this one is understandable given how terrible the ship handling already is but it's still a problem that is there.

and finally;

4- What's a ship type?
In the bleak, fucked up dystopia of TransOcean, if you want to transport bulk cargo, large projects, cars, liquid or gas cargo overseas you're shit out of luck. You get containers and containers only. I mean it's not like you handle cargo operations in the game or whatever so why ignore different types? There are, IIRC, some cargo in the game that's normally transported in bulkers or tankers but in this game it's all containers. Again, this is not a major point like the lack of information/planning and the terrible shiphandling but it's still a point to consider.

But what about the management? Don't know and frankly, don't care. Other people in the review section say it's good? If you're gonna buy this game for the management and use tugs every maneuver, go for it, idk. But if you were excited for the maneuvering just do yourself a favor and stay away from it. Fantasy games like sea of thieves and black flag have more realistic shiphandling than this game.

the_real_abradolf
the_real_abradolf

Like said many times in other reviews of this game: If you liked Ports Of Call back in the day than this is a must buy!

Other than that, it's a pretty good game overall.
Not a high learning curve at all, graphics are ok and micromanaging your ships to optimize profits can be very fun!

The game does struggle when you have more than 3 ships in a dock at a time.

Ship management game, almost identical to Ports of Call, but with updated graphics. There are a few improvements, such as being able to upgrade ships and a promotion system for your firm, and there's a few changes, most notable everything hauled being a contract with income known in front, so no need to have money to invest in goods, and no need to remember which ports pays the most for what goods.

You need to go in and out of every port with tug or by yourself. If you choose to do it yourself you will sadly use 95% of your time doing this, which got far too repetitive for me at least, so opt for tugs always unless you really need a few bucks more at some point, as you may in the very beginning of the game. Also, there seems to be much more frequent checks of what goods are legal or not in hard mode. I've been caught most of the time I've tried. Think it doesn't pay of on average.

The game do get pretty repetitive though. You want to get bigger ships, basically to earn more money per mouse click you do. Would be nice if there was some way of automate a bit, so running three smaller ships wasn't necessarily three times the work of running a big one. Especially as you're forced to run many ships to reach higher ranks, and as you want many corporate contracts to advance in ranks, you'd want to keep smaller ships to fulfill smaller contracts if you want to promote fast.

The economic tracking is silly as it doesn't care about assets. Only cares about the difference on your bank account from month to month, and that even makes your reputation change. Would be nice with better economic statistics, and maybe also being able to buy out your investor so you didn't have to cope with her stupid comments all the time :D

There's lots of potential for improvements in the game though. For instance:
- Some winning conditions. Currently, you play to get money and level up company and get the big ships, but once you've gotten them, why use them? There's nothing more to play for.
- AI opponents like in Ocean Trader adds some fluff.
- The boat graphics looks fairly generic in 3D, and all the names are fairly cryptic. For screens to buy and look at ships, maybe use some better 2D images.
- Some way of automizing stuff would be good. Like being able to order a ship to go back and forth automatically to work on a company contract. (Trying to earn something on the way back to repeat it hopefully).
- A bit silly that you can't fill the ships. If someone wants to ship 2000 tons of goods. Why are they forcing you to ship it in 3 chunks of specific and unequal sizes. Why not just allow you to take as much as you can carry?
- Would be nice to have more visibility to what contracts can be gotten where. I'm sure a shipping tycoon is able to use a phone, and don't have to drive a container ship around to find customers and look at prices. Should be possible to know what contracts you can get where ahead of time so you can plan voyage.

I really have found this game both relaxing and infuriating. It seems that every time I am starting to get ahead, some stupid storm comes along and destroys my schedule. This is why I think that this is a pretty great game. There is no letting your guard down with this one. Every destination leaves you wondering if you will make it in one piece. No contracts are easy. The challenge is awesome.

It's a solid enough game to give a positive review but it needs a different system to control your routes and fix a few UI things. Idk how the devs work on this game... it might just all be brushed off until a sequel or something but some things have gotta change before I buy anything from them again.

List:
Let us masterpause, not this toggle pause button.
Allow ships to be listed by time of destination
Allow us to schedule multiple stops ahead, just flag us if you need to refuel
Give us an autodock feature on all routes. I don't to be given a choice each time... it's my choice 100% of the time after the first 2 months.
Let ports do more? I rented a subsidiary in a maxed out port and now I don't know why I'm being forced by the game to buy more to progress.

Let's start with the first thing I noticed and the easiest to fix. The game pauses when most things happen but doesn't after a ship is repaired... so you'll have your ship sit idly by or you might notice and try to pause the game manually except you're probably on speed 2 because speed 1 is absurdly slow... and when you have a certain amount of ships you will be trying to pause the game to send a ship out but you'll end up unpausing the game on accident because another ship has docked. It becomes a bit of a shit show.

Just give me a little box that lists all my ships and list them by time of arrival at their next destination. I shouldn't have to pan across the entire screen looking for the one ship that's blinking... not to mention, I hope you don't have 2 ships nearly stacked because clicking the correct one is a pain in the ass.

While I'm on UI stuff.... just let us choose autodock/undocking as standard... I shouldn't have to look around my map for the ship that's ready to dock... then I have to click it, oops, accidentally clicked the port, back out to the world map just to reclick the ship to enter the port I was just in.... It's just OBNOXIOUS.

You start the game having to manually dock because of costs but that part of the game is quickly phased out. Once you hit tier 2 of boats the game allows you to go further and it's quite nice. You start pathing your ships to fulfill your company contracts on time.

And that's fun for a bit but the problem is there lacks a way to schedule a ship beyond their next destination and having all contracts change every two days. I swear, I haven't played with a better system for scheduling routes than Airline Tycoon in 1998. Why don't games offer a system like that? I just want to plan some ship routes,

I want a game that wants us to create easy routes so we can spend our time optimizing our routes with specialized ships, maybe with appropriate crew, or we could spend that effort to increase focus on company contracts. Instead, the gameplay is minimized to click tug in, choose a contract, select place on map, tug out. Repeat.

This doesn't sound like a positive review but like... I still plan on playing it but I wanted to leave this review now because it's at this point where the issues are becoming quite grating... I can only imagine how infuriated I'll be by the end. Maybe I'll just sell all my ships and only use the largest class... that seems boring af.

Great fun to play for all business sim lovers... Very immersive and there is enough to do to keep you entertained for hours!

A decent game for the first few hours and then gets incredibly repetitive. Basically you buy ships and then accept delivery contracts and send the ships to where the goods need to be delivered. The mini-game of manually docking and exiting ports is fun for a couple of times but then I always paid to have tug boats do it automatically. The problem comes when you have 15 or 20 ships and you have to manually send each one to a destination based on a contract. Its gets mind numbingly boring. If they had some kind of auto-routing feature to send ships to the correct destination based on accepting a contract, that would be a great improvement (I believe that is in the second game).

I love this game. It satisfies many of my personal preferences in a game -

- Single Player - It is only single player & there's no AI competition either.
- Trading - You are trading containers of goods around the world using various ships.
- Own Pace - You can go at your own pace. You are not forced into improving/updating before you are ready.

There is one annoyance I have with it too -

- Mini game - The ship docking mini game is fun to start with, but becomes tedious when you have to do it every time or risk losing money/reputation for using the tug boat.

The campaign introduces you gently to the new elements of the game as you progress, rather than ramming them down your throat at breakneck speed.

I do recommend this game, but (& i mean BUT) only if you are like me. You prefer single player games, enjoying trading items between ports & don't care how repetitive it gets.

You will not enjoy this game if you like your games fast-paced, action packed or multiplayer. The game gets very repetitive very quickly & I imagine the majority of people who try/buy this will get bored quickly and leave it alone. It is not a game for everyone.

The best advice I can give you is, if you do want to play it, wait until it is on sale at 50% or greater.

Transocean is a great business management style game where you have to balance delivering contracts on time and selecting the most profitable contracts.

It may remind you of the old game Ports of Call.

Fun game for sure.

its like the things you want from other Management games, is also the problem, if they was there then you dont need to do anything. ( im not so sure if change the game , it will be as much fun as it is atm. )

Enjoy playing the game & managing my fleet. Not wild about the financial backing angle & they can throw contracts down on you to fulfill. The smaller first line ships need to be able to have the cargo packing hold or refrigerated hold options. Other than that, I've had a good time.

Way too repetitive.

It was fun at the beginning, since I am a fanatic for these kind of transport strategy games.
However, after 1 hour of playing you end up doing the exact same thing over and over. The same clicks everywhere in the same order. It is way too repetitive and boring.

Sadly, it is not a game to replay.

The game itself is relaxing if you like a good shipping game where you can learn more about how shipping containers works or just how to operate a business. Yes, investors are typically involved in the business as this is how the game starts out ironically, but it's a well rounded simulation.

good game..but badly optimized with my rig, i5-10200H @2.40Ghz boost @4.10Ghz, gtx1650 4gb vram, 16gb 2933Mhz..a bit laggy and very low fps..sometimes freeze for 1/2 secs..already did some tweaks but none work, btw i already used high performance nvidia processor in nvidia control panel..overall good game just bad follow up from developer..should have kept on updating this game not ignoring just because you had a sequel one, doesnt mean you need to give up on the other..really need update though

This game is fairly good takes along time to level and can be a bit mind blowing lolits all in such a small space and the more ships you have the worse it is i found better with one or two ships to start but that me anyway not a bad game overall.

Bought this game.
Forgot to go to work.
Got fired.
But I can say “suck it! I’m a Tycoon!”

Has some repetitive elements because you can’t set routes like some of the RT games, but a really solid game all around.

I really like economy management games and TransOcean is a good an captivating one. I like that the focus is to keep on growing the company while bigger and bigger challenges are thrown out at you.

I played two games on hard in these 51 hours, lost the first one while about 70% done and won the second one with quite some struggle. Very rewarding though. I recommend the game to all who love economy management.

I liked this game and I love the concept. Did play Ports of Call waaaay back with a DOS/Windows, and it was hard. Its events were unforgivable - maybe too much so. Really wanted to find a more modern shipping company game for years after that, and here it was in TransOcean. But with this game, once you get things rolling, it's actually over in one evening. Once you get, say, 3-4 boats, and unlock the world map if you want, there's no stopping the cash flowing in. Then, you just buy bigger boats and begin to hoard even more money. After that, you have no more content left, other than to grind those boring company contracts and collect the Steam achievements if you want. You can do anything, the challenge is completely gone since you have money for anything you want. One of your ships is badly damaged in a storm? There's a pirate raid? Who cares! Those only hurt for the first like 2 hours of gaming. While docking your ship by hand was interesting for the first few times, maybe once in every harbor or so, then it becomes boring and tedious, and you'd much rather use your already unlimited resources to always auto-dock. I feel there's just nothing to do once you get things rolling. While I love the idea, concept, and playability, I feel there's just not enough content or challenge, and it's just grinding for even more resources once you establish yourself. In essence, it only takes like 2 hours to "complete" the game.
