Getting the Software over steam is very easy. The installation also. You only have to hit the button and the Steam downloader procedure the installation automatically.
Vegas Pro 15 is giving the user what he is expecting from a prfessional Video cutting software. The user interface is easy to understand. After installation one can start to work with the software. There is no need of installing additional software like mediaeffects and trackanimations. I've been a long time user for Vegas pro. and this software is a must have for any video editor!
I recommend getting it especially when it is on sale now! 10/10 works smoothly!
I don't use anything else. This is the best video editor I have ever used.
I come from using an old version of Sony Vegas 12 that I purchased and used until now. The new version now is absolutely the best. It's faster and easier to work with, better than I could imagine!
Even for new customers it's easy to learn, the tutorial shows you everything you need, to start editing your clips.
This is a must have software for any clip editor!

UPDATE: Almost two years later -- tried installing Vegas PRO Edit 15 again and it just suddenly works! I was using Premiere CC and it's just too much for some of the smaller projects I work on, just really needed Vegas back in my life.

Nothing changed on my system -- same machine, a few Windows X updates later, I'm guessing. For some reason, runs smoother than ever. MAGIX never mentioned a patch or an update, but it feels like this version got fixed on their end.

Vegas Pro has been my go to video editing for many years. I like it's simplicity and workflow. For my daily work i need a fast and easy to use editing program that does not overload me with features and options. This is not to say that Vegas Pro does not have advanced options. It just does a really good job at not cluttering the UI.

I can usually get a Youtube video ready within 10 minutes. Using templates and archive footage. Encode it and upload. If i need to do complicated video effects i switch to Premiere or After Effects but for the daily work this is perfect.

What bothers me a little is that there is no separate encoding application to queue multiple videos so i can encode and keep editing other videos.

PRO: Good UI, simple interface, fast workflow.
CON: No separate encoding application. (there is batch Rendering)

Vegas Pro is easy to use and also allows beginners to edit and create good videos. The interface is noticeably streamlined and better looking then the previous versions. On my oppinion the editor fits perfectly for everyone who does videos of SimGames and I also use it for short motorsport sequences.

Definitely a very fine piece of Software.

Its a great software but honestly it is so messy and difficult to work with sometimes. I am constantly facing crashes of the program because it cant compute a simple change or preview render in the video tracks that have little to no layered effects or special editing done to them. There is no way to dedicate more system power to this software because its just too stupid to know what it needs in order to process something. Its a small miracle any time I am able to complete a project and render something because of the constant crashing an inconsistent frames and jumps in the preview window. For this kind of price point the software should at least work at a funcitonal level which I am struggling to find with Sony Vegas 15 Pro. On the last project I worked on, the software was crashing and not responding probably evey 5 minutes.

Daylight robbery. Useless editor. Constantly crashes (tried both on Win 7 and Win 10) on a gaming pc with i7 6700k, 16gb RAM, GTX1070. Video stabilization feature is completely unusable, the software will crash before it completes the stabilization.

Avoid Vegas Pro products like the plague!
Wished I'd tried it before the refund period ran out.

Dont buy it, sometimes works fine but other times (the most) crashes every 5 minutes.

PRO-TIP:

    • Open a new project in Vegas.
    • Open the "Options" drop-down in the top-left, and HOLD shift, and then click on "Preferences".
    • Go to the tab in the popup that says "Internal".
    • Search for "msauto".
    • This determines the frequency of which Vegas performs an auto-save. 300,000 means five minutes, which is frankly not frequent enough. I set it to 60,000 because of how ridicuously often this program will crash and how much hair you will pull out.

The best word video editor out there. I used the "legal" version of Vegas Pro 13 for all of my video projects until my new Anti-virus kicked it off, and then I had to buy this version.

30 minutes after downloading and installing this on a stable PC that hasn't had a BSOD in over a month, Vegas Pro 15 stopped responding, faded to white, and crashed. Great job, MAGIX, you wonder why people pirate this in the first place. I was working with widely popular H.264 and AAC video from new cameras. There's absolutely no excuse for this. I was just scrubbing through my timeline, ugh.

Besides the crashing which is an absolute thorne in my side--primarily because it always seems to happen whenever I forget to save in the past few minutes and lose a lot of work--Sony Vegas is the most intuitive video editor you will ever come across.

It's amazingly easy to pickup, and starting cutting footage, which is an absolute necessity when working with a lot of long footage which I ocassionally do. Watch one tutorial on how to use the video FX and keyframes, and now you know most of Vegas.

The interface is so snappy, responsive, everything is where you need it to be.

Adobe Premier might be faster, crashes less often, industry-standard, and has more bells and whistles, but it is an absolute chore to use. You can only splice footage if it you use the "Razor" tool? What, why can't there be multiple ways to accomplish fundamental tasks to support multiple workflows? Combined with the typical Adobe oddities, and the fact that clip snapping and the interface is incredibly hard to use quickly (small buttons, < 10 pixel fault tolerance for extending a clip, other frustrations,) I hate using Premier for projects compared with Vegas.

For context, I use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, regularly. I love them both. There's nothing that comes close to Illustrator and Photoshop for stitching together images, and making animations, and many other tasks. I just don't think Premier is good for stitching a lot of footage together. I sometimes use Premier to make animations, but nothing more than 15 seconds.

MAGIX, take this extremely qualified yes************.

It did crash once for me but just remember to quicksave often (CTRL + S)

But price is a bit much but if you buy it on sale its worth it 👍

Edit: Vegas crashes all the time and i have to re-edit things constantly.... this program is a waste of time

Edit 2: It is good program, but sometimes unstable :)

i got this at $90 it's good id say, has a crashing problem, there is three ways to fix this.

First way is open up task manager
you can do this many ways simple way to explain it is ctrl+alt+delete
open task-> more details-> details tab -> find vegas150.exe right click it -> set affinity -> uncheck the last cpu on that list -> hit okay

you can do the same thing pretty much by going to options hold shift+preferences -> internal tab -type in the box at the bottom "multi-core" switch the values, "disable multi-core rendering, value = TRUE" "enable multi-core rendering for pla..., value = false"

and make sure the accelerated GPU option is off. (no matter how good your GPU is, it may still be the problem i'm on a 1080 Ti) in the preference window go to the video tab third thing down will be "GPU acceleration of video processing:" switch it to off

if you are still crashing i don't know what to say because i haven't crashed in over a month of using it after i set the settings above and the program still is a BAMF program

DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY OTHER VERSION. I have been working with the magix versions of vegas pro for quite some time now and i can say it is probably the most terrible software ever. They charge you upwards of $300 for what essentially is broken software. expect 24/7 crashes and problems. They also do not update any of there software. when a new version comes out, ditch the old one. you are literally paying for a broken version of iMovie. do yourself a favor and use premier pro.

mwsoldier

Thankfully bought this during a sale, but still has lots of crashes despite having relatively high system specs. I have not seen an update in a while. I have to constantly save otherwise I risk losing work constantly speaks bounds about how unreliable and unstable the software is. Also, why not allow us an upgrade package to a newer version that hopefully crashes less, but a bit of a discount for supporting the software despite our issues?

even with an updated system from my previous build it still crashes often. Make sure to save frequently!

My specs are:
Ryzen 3800x
32gb ddr4 3200
1tb ssd

I have many hours on this product as you can see, I have made countless videos / projects with it. It no longer launches at all, crashing when it tries to initialize the graphics.

I've updated all of my drivers, I've removed every single trace of Vegas from my system and reinstalled. I've tried the various fixes I've found on the forums, and nothing seems to work.

I love this editing software, and will eventually upgrade to the latest version, but I spent $199.99 on this product and do not wish to retire it just yet.

Do not buy Sony 15, I'd recommend 19 which is made for steam and might be more compatible.

Honestly, I wouldn't reccomend buying this software. It costs £239 at the time of this review. For £239, you are getting software that will crash every 5 minutes, and if you put it under any stress it will just crap itself. I'm using an intel core i7 7th gen CPU and a gtx 1080, 16 GM ram so it should be able to handle the light video editing that I'm doing. Total waste of money, I'm just glad I got it for £80 instead so at least I have some extra saved money so I can buy some decent software instead of this pile of sh*t

i haven't gone through all the new features and plugins and all that, but it works sweet, and you can use your GPU to help render and that cuts the render time in like half which is cool. i got it on sale for $85, which was legit, ty steam, otherwise 3 hundred and however much is probably too steep for editing software unless it's like your job or whatever.

but yea it does what it needs to and it hasn't crashed on me yet and i've got like 29 hours on it according to my library.

I've been using Vegas video editing software for a few years now. I started with Vegas Studio 11, then 13, bought 14 and 15 in the Vegas Pro variants.
I'm all for adding new features and fixing bugs. But Magix, you guys are assholes. Every year you're trying to get people to pay another 200-300 bucks, essentially making the software into a subscription model.
I legally own Vegas Pro 14 and 15. When I try to run them it says "error. No license installed." When I go on the store it says "Magix asked to remove Vegas Pro 15 from the store."

If you cared about your customers, you'd make it 1 product. "Vegas Pro". The end. Then you can pay for support/updates based on a subscription model. But don't just take my license away. I paid 150€ for that, I get to damn well use it as I please, even if you no longer sell it.

It worked fine on my last computer, actually it worked great. It was my first time using a video editing software but I really liked it. However, I got a new computer and had to download all my steam games. Once I finished downloading Vegas Pro I went to launch it. When ever I launch it it come up with and error code. Error code -59. I click the "ok" button and then it states, "An error occurred starting VEGAS Pro.There is no license to use this software." I click "ok" and the window closes. So in conclusion, I WOULD recommend this software; however, at least in two weeks, or whatever Steams refund police allows, launch the application and see if it works. If not, please refund and get your $150 back.

Used the program without issue for 4 years. The publishers are revoking the licenses for the older versions of the program one at a time to try to force you to re-buy the newer versions. So I am out my money, and my program. Scummy as all hell.
