For most part, this is a fun and intriguing game: Good story, awesome battle (Sans ONE fight, towards end the game) encounters and situations and the like.
Pro's: The narrative is interesting and entertaining, the combat is well done, aggressive and fast-paced. Enjoyable for a "romp & stomp" kind of throw-down.
Con's: The stealth system is not given enough love, one the Boss fights, towards the end is PAINFUL to say the least. The lack of a "Level Select" and a few other QOL issues.
if I was rate, 1-10? MAYBE a strong 6. 5, though, would be my opinion. This game is a once-and-done, title, so don't look at it for any re-playability.

Oof, I hate to say this, but I have been highly disappointed by this game.

This needs a modder's touch because it feels like it is a great concept but is missing a lot of what would make it great.

The game portrays itself as a story driven action-stealth game along the lines of Shadow of Mordor or Assassin's Creed with elements of Arkham Asylum (Only Asylum though). It takes place in a classic TTRPG setting and uses that to lend itself an air of legitimacy in that area, and just falls flat.

The story is boring, the gameplay is flat and generic, and the main elements I was looking for from a Werewolf the Apocalypse game are missing.

I'm not normally one to criticize graphics, but these look like ten year old visuals. Add that with the gameplay and this may have been a top 50 game of 2012.

If you want a mediocre and outdated hack 'n slash with some neat concepts that aren't fully explored, this game is for you. I hope that the mod community can bring this game to its full realization, because the Werewolf property deserves more than this.

Good music.
Good representation of WtA Lore.
Good story and it makes a lot of fun to shred through hordes of polluters. (=

Fun Game, nearly didn't buy it when i read that if you get caught in the stealth sections it was game over, but that's just the tutorial part at the beginning , after that if you get caught you just go werewolf crazy and rip everything apart, can trigger that whenever you like (after the first section, obv) if you cba with stealth, its fun.

Graphics are fine altho the cutscenes in game are a little shoddy (think ME:Andromeda looking faces lol) but the game are good enough, for the price they are great tbf, combat is fluid and responsive, story is ok characters a little 2d and the voice acting starts awful, no emotion at all but settles into a nice middle ground, workable skill tree so overall for the price its a steal and well worth trying in the steam refund window if your unsure.

New Trouble
New Trouble

First off I do not think this is a bad game and should not be that negatively reviewed. However, this game has many problems. Namely low detail on NPCs and other things in the environment is one. That is passable at least, but the combat and stealth need some work. Combat is good in my eyes, aside from maybe you dying too fast (I only died once in combat and that was from turrets) and enemies having some BS knockback attacks (The knockback animation sends you flying way too far). Stealth is completely optional (aside from one mission in the beginning so anyone complaining about that needs to play more) and it has many flaws that come with an underdeveloped stealth system. The flaws are enemies seeing through cover, wonky detection, crossbow being nearly useless in most areas, and takedowns being random in time and placement after it finishes causing you to get spotted from it.
Now I think this game is good, but it is definitely a 40 dollar or less title. The character model for your character and the werewolves are great (aside from the goofy handlebar mustache on the MC). The story is shallow and it doesn't allow time to connect to characters at all. Yet the story is surprisingly long and the game will take a minute to complete (If you go for every spirit).
All in all I recommend this game on sale, but it is highly repetitive and at times annoying so a possible avoid for most.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood.

Relevant for: PC (Epic Games Store). The game was completed shortly after the release.

Game Problems:

- Unfortunately I was unable to find accurate data about the game's budget, though at the first glance you can tell the development process was provided with insufficient funding, considering the low-detailed graphics and negligent animations and cutscenes. Budgeting by itself is not always a problem. There are plenty of examples of poorly-financed art, which managed to set the trends and was able to become remarkable for one reason or another. Earthblood is not like that. The game tells a simple story, which contains a few relatively drastic plot twists, which could've evoked intense emotions if the presentation was up to par, but the low budget doesn't allow the staging and scripted plot twists to unfold properly.

- Generally you can spot a certain carelessness in the game design while looking at many things. For instance: our protagonist can switch between three forms: human, wolf and werewolf. Developers suggest that you use human or wolf form to beat the stealth sections, during which you get to interact with computer terminals to hack surveillance cameras and turrets, unlock doors, take out enemies silently and read notes which reveal the story of the universe. Ideally you would use stealth in the form of a wolf: he's faster, he can crawl through ventilation system, flank enemies and choose optimal approach for your further actions, though the problem is that while interacting with computers, doors, guards or notes, main character automatically turns into human but doesn't turn back into wolf. I think automatic transformation into a preferred form would've been more time efficient and wouldn't have broken the game's pace.

- In the form of a human, besides the aforementioned abilities, the protagonist can shoot the crossbow to take down surveillance cameras or guards. But then again: we have a single-shot crossbow, which has to be reloaded after each shot. During this relatively long process you can't turn into wolf form or take cover and even your walking abilities are limited. As a matter of fact, the value of your shot is extremely low, considering the the high risk of being detected due to these limitations. Potentially designers wanted this cooldown to make players plan their shots out more thoroughly, but you only get 3 crossbow shots and yet you have dozens of enemies per combat zone. In my opinion, these two factors alone make players plan their actions in advance. These problems are not necessarily game-breaking, mind you, but I think the game could've been nicer had these things been more polished.

- But at the core of this game lies your third form, which is of course - the werewolf, engaging in open fights with everyone standing in his way. The fighting system, which I classify as beat 'em up is nothing to write home about, but does the job fine except for one thing: in the werewolf form you can switch between two stances, in the first stance your hits are weak, in the second one your hits are strong, but for some weird reason switching the stances also changes the angle of the camera. In the first case you have a wide field of view, displaying a large portion of the battle arena which is what you'd expect to see in a standard beat 'em up game, in the second case the camera transitions a lot closer to the character and now hovers over the main character's shoulder. And as you've probably already guessed, that's where the problem lies. Apparently this stance was designed specifically for 1v1 boss fights and for fights against elite enemies. Something clearly went wrong though: often times lots of elite enemies spawn in with the regular foes and thus the limited field of view you get with the alternate camera angle blocks your ability to see the fighting arena, which is unforgivable in a beat 'em up game.

- Besides, the game doesn't let you know which attack can stunlock the main character. Your main indicator in the fight - is an orange silhouette of the enemy, which informs you that you have to stop or dodge the enemy, or otherwise you will take a lot of damage. Though, some types of attacks break the combo chain of the protagonist, others - don't. Apparently developers intended us to figure it out through trial and error. I think expanding the range of indicator colors would solve this problem, allowing the players to evaluate the type of incoming attacks and risks more precisely.

- The gameplay cycle, as most of the aspects of the game, is pretty simplistic: you go from main hub to dialogues with NPCs, leave for the mission, plow through minimalistically decorated arenas filled with enemies, and then finish things off with a stealth or an open fight section and a boss fight. Rinse and repeat until the credits roll. This gameplay cycle is viable, problem is that during your 6-12 hours playthrough, this dried up formula barely changes: main mechanics are presented and explained almost in the very beginning and the variety of gameplay situations and enemies leave a lot to be desired. As a result it all becomes monotonous and thus becomes boring since neither story, nor gameplay don't work due to the aforementioned reasons and occasionally even becomes frustrating.

- Another thing I wanted to point out is the background music, which is brought down by the fact that there's only about six different tracks dedicated to fight scenes, which is extremely insufficient, considering the game's length. This is how most of the battle tracks sound like.

Positive and neutral things:

• This game has a lot of problems, but there are neutral aspects (RPG-elements, dialogue wheel, side quests, which have no interest in giving you a reason to do them) that don't make the game any worse.

+ I managed to find something positive, at least for myself. I couldn't help but to mention the boss battles. There's plenty of them throughout the game and they work as intended: alternate stance is selected, spacing and proper dodge timings are of the essence for evading the incoming attacks, the battle arenas are spacious, so nothing gets in the way of your dodges, bosses' attack indicators work as intended, and your only focus is the duel with the boss. They're great, but serve more as the silver lining among the dark clouds.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood is a good-looking game on paper. In reality this action game is semi-fuсked in practically every aspect and needs additional work on details. It's just a bad game.

To be honest the story and the animation design for the cut scenes are pretty trash, and that no one gave any effort for them to look good. But I absolutely love the game play, sure its a little straight forward with all stealthiness to it but the fighting is awesome. you're a nearly unstoppable werewolf that has a tone of upgrades to work for. If your looking to buy this game just know that don't get your hopes on the graphics being five stars as well the cut scenes looking professional. Just take in being an awesome werewolf tearing shit up.

Jacquelinsane

I suppose on one level this game is fun, being a big fuck off werewolf and killing shit.
However.
The controls and animations feel janky.
The textures look muddy and blurry.
And the combat feels too easy even on hard.

Pepsiman
Pepsiman

It's riddled with cliches and has the pacing of a ps2 game.
and it fu**ing rules.
When the heavy metal plays and you start tearing your way through hundreds of guards, It's pure hack and slash bliss.
its a simple game and knows very well it doesn't have the depth to sustain a long game; you'll be done with it in less than 8 hours. and that's exactly what i need. short games that don't overstay their welcome.

LOVED IT

Dark Star Wolf
Dark Star Wolf

I loved the story line for this game and the action packed levels, choosing whether to fight or sneak my way through areas or outright slaughter the forces of endron and the wyrm. I would say if your into werewolf action and a good story of fighting back against a evil vile corporation this is one of the best games for that.

Before you buy.

It's important to note that I bought this game with the impression that it is a story driven game. The game is marketed as such, or perhaps that is what I wanted from it.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood is better described as a hack-and-slash game.

The story is horrible, and it is a shame, because there was good potential. You are thrust into the game without much context and back story, the first mission is a horrible setup. Your wife dies by a an apparent antagonist because she was sent in on a solo mission, but you don't really care because there was no time spent to showcase her character or make you give a shit about her. And then they proceed to let you kill the werewolf/antagonist immediately after he killed her. He also doesn't have a backstory, his only purpose was to kill your wife for no reason and die???

The main character also has no backstory other than being a father and a werewolf. No backstory of how he became such. The setup is horrible, the animations look like they came from 2005. The gameplay is mediocre and the graphics look good until you see it's just pretty textures. The soundtrack is cool but repetitive.

I actually immediately stopped playing the game after the first mission. This game is a scam, the marketing is the only thing good about this product. Don't buy it, not even on special.

Midas
Midas

I'm surprised the game had a rating above 'mixed' when I bought it, because it really is a blatantly mediocre game. Even on sale, I'm not convinced it's worth it. Just within the first 2 levels, you can see how shallow the game is. The forced stealth gameplay is shallow and boring, the action sequences are awkward to play and not very satisfying, with swarming dummy enemies and rock-paper-scissors mechanics. It reminded me a bit of playing Prototype, except inferior in basically every respect.

I really liked this game.
I liked the combat system, to be honest, the combat system is not that advanced or with a lot of options but it never felt like a chore, I really like the implementation of both the werewolf form and the wolf form, the models look really good and nothing really felt out of place, the environment never felt like it was copied and pasted from one area to the other.
enemies ai was smart enough.
BGM was awesome.
but the story was weak IMHO.
overall I really liked this game and recommend it, even at full price.
I don't condone the game being exclusive to epic for the time it was.
but i would like to see new work from this studio

Playing as a big sexy ass werewolf never gets old

Game is certainly under developed, the cutscenes in the actual game are almost laughable, like those B-list childrens youtube videos kinda animation. Probably cause not enough funding/time put into the game but still get to play as werewolf which there is a lack of in video games so big ol thumbs up

This is another of the many instances that I wish that Steam recommendations weren't so binary. Did I like the game? Yeah, totally. Did I have fun? Absolutely. Was it a good game? No, not remotely. Would I recommend it? Absolutely not. But it scratched the itch I had for a cool werewolf game that I haven't been able to appease since Skyrim. The controls were terrible, the animations were hard to watch sometimes, the stealth segments I began to just ignore in favour of the werewolf combat. The werewolf combat wasn't super intuitive and took some getting used to, but it was sick as hell and had crazy metal playing the entire time. The story didn't grab me at first, it was pretty bland and predictable, but I found myself getting more and more invested as the game went on. It was super stupid and fun and exactly what I was looking for. If that sounds good to you, I would suggest picking it up, but for the masses? Steer clear.

Someone else wrote a review saying this game scratched a specific werewolf itch for them after coming from Skyrim. I just came off of The Quarry looking to scratch a similar itch. This did not so that for me. The whole game just feels like it finished development in 2005 and then waited 17 years before becoming available. The only thing I enjoyed in this game was the dedicated "bark" button in wolf form.

Apoc

I find the critics harsh on the game. It is not a masterpiece but it's another solid game by Cyanide. Forced stealth seems to be a big complaint but it is barely the first hour or so of the game, you have a good 7 hours of mayhem if you wish so after that. Closer to 5 hours if you put it on easy, ignore stealth at all beside the early mandatory part, and have some mindless destructive fun. Ironically enough, I think there are more encounters in the whole game that force combat than stealth. I'm not sure if it is bad game design or people having too short attention span, I'm pretty sure you can finish the "tutorial" in the 2 hour Steam refund period and actually see what the game really is.

Voice acting is not awful but bland, graphics even on maximum are rough for 2022 and gameplay remind you of old PS2 action-rpg but it is what I expected controlling a fearsome werewolf. The skill tree is simple and does not offer game changing skills but it allow you to focus on your favorite playstyle. The game is quite linear, mission based with very few sidequests and while you can have a couple different way to explore the areas it's pretty much a series of rooms. Open or Semi-Open World would probably have been too much for Cyanide but it would have been great for this game.

My knowledge of the Werewolf part of the World of Darkness is on the low side so I can't say how faithful it is but I enjoyed the nature and spirit lore. Plants and other natural trinkets being your source of experience is a fun idea and does not penalise stealth since combat does not give experience at all.

The only reason I would not recommend this game is because of Nacon and the one year Epic exclusivity. The game itself is fine if you buy it on sale because it is a solid 7/10 for me but too short for the full price.

Loving it so far. Delightfully B-grade, although the voice acting can be utterly terrible. *Really* needs an option to disable bloom though. It's like having vaseline in your eyes. Also, seems someone borked the achievements--a 'lock' symbol for unlocked achievements and detailed symbols for locked achievements. Does make you despair a bit, doesn't it?

Here's the thing. I really really really wanted to give this game a thumbs up.

I mean its a werewolf game where you hack and slash your way through evil corporations. Whats not to love right?

Except its not like that. Not really. You mostly sneak around from level to level until you reach a certain point. Then your character, sometimes for no good reason, will get enraged and turn int oa werewolf and THEN you finally get to rip and tear your way through badguys. But if you happen to get caught sneaking around before its time to change, its game over. You don't get to change if you get caught, its just game over. I feel like that was a very poor decision.

Plus the graphics only look great in the opening cutscene and during werewolf fighting scenes. FOr the rest of it the game looks really shoddy and a little sub-par.

The voice acting is bland and boring and its just not very good. I mean there are some serious dramatic moments that happen to these characters but their tone of voice is like they couldn't care less.

The story itself is pretty unoriginal, just another revenge plot. But the idea is original and nice. I want more werewolf games but I also want better werewolf games. When you get to actually be a werewolf and do some fighting, its pretty fun I guess. But all the other stuff around it was so boring and so grindy that I found myself more bored than anything else.

Maybe wait for a big discount before buying.

It only took me 20 minutes to request a refund. I could tell from the start of the game that this was low quality with the initial animations of the characters. The pre-rendered stuff at the start seems decent, but then the character animations were god awful. Then I actually got to play, and it didn't get better. Controls are clunky and you seem to only be able to turn into a werewolf at scripted times. Was not impressed at all. Thank goodness for Steams refund policy.

Best werewolf fighting game, played 4 times through in epicgames, only lacks a free world and a challenger/ multiplayer mode.
Nice joke with endron/ enron > see reallife. I wish, it would not be so linear and you could climb big walls and run though a larger wood/ desert/ landscape, not those tiny prisonlike areas. Fighting as said is good but only in werewolfform you are able to fight, lupus is for stealth and human for talk.

All in all a good game for 30 or less euro. Still waiting for a better sequel or smt diffrent from WoD werewolves.

I really wanted to like this game. I had it on my wishlist for months because the trailers for it looked good! You get to be a werewolf and tear through corporations, what wasn't to like? Little did I know that was about the only thing that looked good in this game.

Pre-rendered cutscenes look great. I dig the backstory and concept. However when I got into the actual game play, it was like being transported back to 2002. The characters move like something out on an early 2000's game when developers were first getting their feet wet with 3D characters. Mouth movement doesn't match the dialogue, there was a lot of clipping in the mouth area, and creepily of all the characters had this blank stare that looked through the person they were talking to - if they looked at them at all. The pack leader had this distracting blue glow in his mouth.

The pacing was terrible and confusing. The voice acting killed any distant hope of making the emotional scenes interesting. Instead, they are about as heart touching as a Monday morning conference call.

I was really hoping for a hack and slash type of game where I could ignore the cliche plot and focus on massacring some corporate scumbags. Nope. The werewolf thing feels like it's supposed to be your handy dandy pocket knife rather than the .50-caliber rifle it should be. Instead you sneak through levels and use a piddly crossbow to take out enemies. Wow, exciting.

jk. I'm sad. This game is sad. My wallet is sad.
Thank you Steam for giving refunds so effortlessly.

To the Highest in Station goes the First of the Kill

I think all the criticism of this game is more or less fair, and I had the same sinking feeling when I first got into game, but as a whole it feels like a single-player Werewolf campaign, with side quests for the Caern spirit and running around in Lupus form being stealthy. The punchy summary is as someone else posted - it is a delightful "B Movie"-esque game with a tonne of heart.

The Veil shall not be Lifted
At its heart this game is trying to be a stealth game with combat sections when you either fail your stealth or are drawn into a combat, and the Rage you have generated from stealth kills contributes to your starting Special bar. It is nice and fluid transition from one to the other and as far as fail states go it feels amazing. My main complaint is that every 50m there is your next step marked on the HUD so it feels like I don't have much agency with the stealth sections. I think maybe a small PDA with maps may have helped this, or the use of Penumbra vision to show claw marks to where you need to go.

Accept Honorable Surrender
Combat feels really fluid, with its destructive environments and plenty of mooks to ragdoll around that really gives you the Power role trip. Challenging mini-bosses and I would assume bosses fruther into the game. Frenzy looks amazing, but I feel like there should be some drawback or a use-counter for using it (maybe there is as I have only cleared the first level). Also the music slaps when fights kick off!

The Leader May not be Challenged in War Time
It would be nice when a section is completed we can see a tally of stealth kills/ enraged kills and time spent changed as well as times frenzied. Maybe in a future game there could be 4 skill trees for four different spirit types:

    • Honor - This would be general Garou skills, with XP rewarded for main quest progression, and your honor points can be used behind the scene to gate certain content
    • Wisdom - Stealth and sabotage - gathering of information
    • Glory - Combat - using Rage and Crinos outside of combat for feats of fantastic athletics (giant leaps etc.)
    • Wyrm/ Corruption - Frenzy leaves its mark, and rather than positively being spent these drawbacks are locked in (damage lowered, increased detection radius, rage builds slower) - This then opens up purification/ spirit quests as an avenue of content.

Fight the Wyrm, Wherever it Dwells and Breeds
Can't wait to have another session of this over the next few days - It is however pronounced Ga-ROOOOOOOO, not Gahh-rue. They are wolves, not chefs!!

First off, lets get one thing straight: this isn't $60. So I don't expect a $60 game. If it did cost that much then maybe I'd be a little upset. Perspective is important.

Who would've thought the first World of Darkness video game I'd play after Bloodlines in 2000 was this? Crazy. But here we are, still waiting for Bloodlines 2.

Second, IGNORE everyone complaining about getting game over after being spotted. This only happens at the VERY early intro to the game. After you talk to the suit about the silver, you can handle the situation in stealth or rage out. Your call.

This isn't open world. Didn't expect it to be for the price. Animations and graphics are reminiscent of a decade ago, but still cool. In some ways its impressive, and others its meh. Personally I don't see anything wrong with the graphics.

Mechanics are simplistic, but again, didn't expect this to be Metal Gear or something. Characters are paper thin so far, but who knows that might change. Maybe it won't. Story-line is basic, but everyone can get behind a good revenge story. Hell, many games still have that as a premise. Fine by me. Put some meat in front of me and let 'er rip.

However, when it comes to combat, it feels a little stilted. Not as smooth as I like. It tells you to perform combos with 3 basic buttons. And you have two stances you can go into to be more agile or tank.

The game is linear, and I'm okay with that too. Not everything has to be a sprawling open-world MMORPG battle-royale egocentric free-for-all.

The story was probably written by someone who plays the tabletop version of this game occasionally. Seriously, is it that hard to hire a writer? You don't introduce the people you're supposed to care about and then kill them off two seconds later. It gives the player zero reason to care about them. It just feels like: "here, these wooden people are who you're supposed to care about so that the plot makes sense." I agree they could've worked on the story a bit more. But hey, I enjoyed Castlevania and Resident Evil, and those plots are **** too.

Unless everything takes a nose-dive after the two hour mark, I think I will enjoy this game.

The year is 2005. A werewolf game launches.
You're hyped because, hey, who doesn't want to be a giant werewolf tearing people apart?

Unfortunately after buying it you very quickly realize: This is 2022, not 2005.

You've been bamboozled.

Stoic, you decide to push forward.
Voice acting doesn't make a game you tell yourself. Story telling doesn't make a game. The cringe of the game and it's heavy laughable heavy metal theme doesn't make a game.
The gameplay being jank and clunky and poorly optimized doesn't make a game.....

But wait! it does. It all does.

Realizing this would be bad even in the age where it belongs, or on a mobile platform you sigh, thank your lucky stars that steam has a refund policy for just this reason and hit the uninstall button.

EPIC can keep their early exclusives, this one most of all.

I really wanted to give this game a thumbs up, but I really can't do that if I want to remain honest.

TLDR: A LOT of wasted potential

Pro:
+ Finally a game set in my favorite pen and paper setting
+ A lot of Easter eggs for those who know what to look for with the companies shown and mentioned

Con:
- terrible camera controls
- looks and plays like a PlayStation 2 game (and not one of the great ones)
- annoying checkpoint saves
- bland constrained levels
- flat voice acting
- bland boring combat
- bland boring stealth

The worst part for me is that some of the potential that this game could have had shines through at times:
- downgrading from five to three forms makes sense for a video game and their roles are set alright, but in practice, it feels like two games, a stealth game like so many sections in way too many games and a bland action brawler where you defeat scores of enemies which you can reduce by being good at stealth.
- the idea that you gain spirit powers by helping the spirits just beyond the reach of regular humans is good and as an idea a nice translation of the role playing game, but in practice, it just means running around an area, hoping to find them so you can get generic upgrade points to spend in a bland and uninspired skill tree
- seeing into the spirit realm is a great idea, but instead of making it a game of shifting between worlds to avoid obstacles and enemies and seeing the destruction wrought by the Wyrm on both sides, this wonderful power is reduced to being a generic detective vision like in so many other games.
- being a lone werewolf who tries to help his people sounds fun, but this is once again a letdown for those who like the setting, where the pack and its totem spirit are so important.

And now for the ranting part of a long time storyteller and player of the pen and paper:
- Why on earth way such a bland main character chosen? There are thirteen interesting and diverse tribes to choose from! I personally love the Fianna tribe, but why is he so bloody bland? A rough man who actually cares for his family instead of abandoning them would have fit, so would a man who stands apart because of the fae blood in his veins.
- From what little I have seen so far, a member of the Wendigo (Native American werewolves who follow a great cannibal spirit of winter) could have been a far better choice and could have lead to interesting conflicts of whose land that actually is
- By the same token, a roaming Silent Strider (Egyptian werewolves who have been forced to roam the world after loosing their homeland to vampires) would have fit just as well
- Why did you make him a warrior if half the game is going to be stealth focused? All garou are capable of ripping enemies limb from limb, but a Ragabash (tricksters born under the new moon) would have fit so much better for a lone wanderer who infiltrates
- The inability of shifting between worlds annoys me to no end, this can be such a cool mechanic as seen in so many other games.
- Instead of a stealth-action mix, why not make it a party based game with a rag tag group of garou from different tribes who have to work together? Yes, they are killing machines, but with the right enemy design that could be a lot of fun.
- If you need to make it a game of a single character infiltrating then why not go for one of the other Fera( werecreatures)? A rat could have made the stealth part more interesting and focused it more into that direction. Want to keep it the same ratio? Use a Bastet (great cats), there it would actually make sense that the character could not cross into the spirit world and that they are on their own.

In the end, I am mostly saddened by this thorough disappointment of a game and I sincerely hope that a far superior game in that setting can be made some time in the future.

I will probably force myself to finish this game and will update the review at that point, but I highly doubt that I would ever recommend buying it unless you want to catch a glimpse of a really cool setting that was done a great disservice by this game.

First of all, yes.
Human face animations and gesticulation sucked.
But at least for me, fighting and the overall story were actually good.
And come on, destroying a megacorporation as a werewolf was cool.

I had so much fun so overall if you like werewolfes i would recommend.

so i played this on epic games when it first came out and i loved it ive also noticed something on the steam version the graphics are hit pretty hard pixelation and shit so it seems that tim in his usual manner fucked over the developer cyanide studios when moving to steam. now ive seen some reviews saying you cant change into crinos or murder mode at will wich im going to address this issue.

you can in fact change at will the default key is b on the keyboard and it becomes available after that ventru bitch in the suit shoots you or you rage mid convo with him after that you want to say "fuck stealth" and go rage to crinos to butcher every fucking thing you see then go for it. i mean if im not playing for stealth i do it and its alot of fun to go beat 'em up on this. if you dont believe me then please fill free to go to the control settings better yet i'll post a screen shot with this review circling the control for it.

the game is good it isn't perfect and it has much more potential that it just doesn't manage to capture but for what it is and for a 30 buck price instead of a 60 i think its worth it if your worried about it there's nothing wrong with waiting for a sale to buy it but if this doesn't do well i think it could be another 10 to 30 years before another attempt at a game like this could be made and it will be just as low budget killing the next attempt.

My personal musings are what all this is so feel free to ignore my rambling mind put to text: with all that said its a good game, it isnt perfect nor is it the best thing ever if they had a bigger budget the game would have been so much better and the full potential would have been used but companies are afraid to big budget werewolf games because they often flop, i think if someone made a game and went all out for this franchise it would go super well and it would likely be a top seller for awhile at least.

thing is if one of the little dips in the kiddie pool don't take we'll never see a truly fantastic game made involving the werewolf genre as a whole and i think if the wolf among us by telltale hadn't done so well we would never have even gotten this one.
shame about what happened to werewolf the apocalypse: heart of gaia that one was gonna be like vtm bloodlines and the company went out of business right as they were readying up the final touches for the game... another couple months and we would have seen a truly awesome wwta game. im really hoping this one will do well in the long run atleast enough to justify a sequal with a bigger budget so we can see the full potential of this game get used.

It's simple fun, I agree it feels like an older game in a lot of ways, but I liked a lot of those older games too.

Also you can be a werewolf fighting a mech, and that ain't nothing.

I'd already beaten this game on PS4 when it first released last year, but that didn't stop me from double dipping here. Werewolf is an enjoyable werewolf game (of which there are few, unfortunately) where you play as Cahal on a mission to defeat Endron, working for the Wyrm to destroy Gaia.

The missions are pretty linear, but I enjoy it nonetheless, especially the side quests where you get in touch with the spirits. You use the wolf form for stealth and can bark to draw the attention of enemies. Werewolf wreaks destruction when your cover is blown or you feel like just giving everyone a bad day.

Graphics wise, I think the game is just fine. They're not ungodly realistic like some games, but they're dx efinitely not potato either. Story definitely could've been a bit more fleshed out, but for what the game is, I really enjoyed it. Who wouldn't want to fight for Gaia? Music is pretty kickass when you're ripping enemies apart with your claws.

Love werewolves? Definitely pick this up!

The game is very bad for today's standards the only redeeming quality is that the concept is cool other than that this game is terrible. The voice acting is one of the worst I've ever seen the voice actors have no emotion most of the time and they pronounce exotic names all differently. The graphics, when I launched the game it was all maxed out and would let me change the resolution from 1920x1080 and the game still looked like a game that was released for a PS2 or PS3 but none of the good games you remember. The level design is poor. The combat is very simple and not in the good way. It's a lot of look, click and dodge. The combat doesn't feel good at all you cant parry, you cant block there's only dodge and heavy or light attacks.

Because of all the issues mentioned above i am refunding the game and warn you that you shouldn't buy this game ever. most of the positive reviews are pity reviews because very few games use the werewolf concept like this and the ones that do are worse.

Put me as werewolf in square room with nothing, spam enemies on me and I could spend hours figuring out, how long I could survive. This is what all werewolfs needed...

And This is the formula this game realy lack of.

They could have been make this game as brainless arena fights, and that still would be cool even without stealth and with all its repetative gameplay, because fighting pity humons as sexy werewolf daddy in this game is so cool, satisfying, well-made and polished, yet still requires some skill. This game realy needs a bunch of grinding, much more constatnt fights and more doom-like gameplay with more than 2-3 waves in each room that will not be slowed down with stealth and story things that often. That would make game only better, longer, more fun and the main quest last longer, without much expenses.
I would not mind cleaning 20 simmilar arenas with 5 waves each, before any progress in main story, to do the same fights again and again, because that werewolf fights have made very good and i still will be enjoying repeating them, because every time there is something new, new emotions.

With current game flow there is always one short fight and then long pause before next one, but you, like a werewolf, wanna more and more, you are not fed with that action, yet you have to exit your rage form and walk as doggo. I really liked how the game started, when I could go through some rooms without transforming back into human, there was unlimited brutal gameplay and later the game really lack of such things.

This game is very good, and lot of things can be understandable with its category, the only real problem is that these things could be made without big expenses, and with a lot of simple copy paste, but devs decided put too much effort trying to make every arena unique, despite as a powerful werewolf you does not notice it, because you simply destroy everything. Yes, AS long you go the more new enemies you meet, and that cool, but still there is not a Doom with 30 types of enemies, and bunch of gameplay mechanics that devs could combine to get every single arena unique, just let me taste all these mechanicks you already made very well more often.

They could say, such thing would make things boring? But are they serious? This game came out for fans, this game not focused at wide auditory, and fans would like to spent hours in unlimited massacre and still having fun of it

I wish one day we get next game, or DLC

People who complains about graphic, but where is other werewolf games ? The last one were Skyrim 12 years ago. This game is the best werewolf game for now

Contrary to what some people are saying in their reviews, you *CAN* absolutely skip stealth. You are *NOT* locked into stealth, and if you just want to rip and tear your way through nearly every level in the game as a 9 foot death machine engineered specifically to murder in the name of mother earth, you absolutely can.
Anyone who says you get locked into stealth hasn't played much of the game at all. After you get to the CEO of the arms dealers, you are no longer locked to stealth. Everything before this is more or less a prolonged stealth tutorial. I urge you to KEEP PLAYING past this. The game begins to shine.

Granted, a lot of people's complaints are valid. The cutscenes can use work, the voice acting is only passable, and the game feels like it should've come out ten years ago. I don't believe these are reasons to skip on this one, though. There are numerous more technically impressive games that are far less enjoyable.

It's a setting worth looking into, a safe (albeit dumbed down) introduction to a compelling world, especially in today's environmentally conscious climate. Showing devs that this is a setting we want to see more of is worth the time. It's not a triple A title, and it won't play or look like one. It just needs to be fun, and this is fun.

So allow yourself to fill the role of the Garou. You were born and blessed by the Moon as a Warrior in a warrior's culture, into a war that has been raging for thousands of years. The enemy has poisoned humanity. They're poisoning the earth, your mother. They're killing your brothers, your sisters, your family. They turn you against your own, against yourself. They are everywhere, behind every corporate corruption, their venom bleeding through the cracks in the world. The Earth bleeds more and more each day. It is time to answer the only question remaining.

When will you Rage?

Okay, Playing an Unstoppable Room Wrecking Werewolf is Sick!... however ......

The one thing this game does right is brutal werewolf combat! Also, contrary to some othet reviews that I have seen, you CAN turn big boy Werewolf whenever you want, outside of the tutorial and hub area, as you would expect. Also, you do not have to stealth as much as some people are saying. You can stealth, it makes things easier because you can sabotage stuff, buuut.. there is nothing stopping you from just walking into the middle of a room, hitting RB (B for keyboard) and laying waste to said room.

Having said that, the animations, voice acting, storyline, environments, all of that, feels like a bad 2005 indie title. Just plain awful. I mean, it feels like they had a solid grasp of the werewolf mechanic, and everything else was just an after thought. Which makes reviewing this game a little tricky. I mean, if the ONLY thing you care about is being an unstoppable beast, then you may really enjoy this title. If you are the type of player that needs a storyline with more then an afternoons thought placed into it, animations that at least look better then your average unity default asset toss, you may find the game underwhelming. To say the least. Voice acting is... you ever play 'Two Worlds'? Youtube it and suffer like I have.

Is it all bad? No. Again, Big Boy Werewolf is Sick! Everything else, not so much. My advice, wait for a sale that puts it around $10.

Overall 6/10

"The game literally makes you feel the exaggerated swagger of a garou treehugger."

Game is alright. If you love Werewolf: The Apocalypse and the World of Darkness tabletop RPGs, I recommend getting it (preferably on sale like I did).

Gameplay is pretty basic. You've got a basic skill tree with two path Tactical and Combat. Tactical handles all your stealth based elements and Combat handles when you have to go OwO mode and giving everyone "a little looksie here" by tearing their guts out.

Combat has two stances, one fast and one strength. Fast lets you pull off, well, quick but low damage combos and you move really fast with the trade off being you're weaker to damage. Strength lets you tank hits and deal massive damage with the trade off being your movement is slow. You have a frenzy mode that let's you go ballistic and deal massive damage in either mode that you can upgrade to make you stronger.

Stealth is pretty basic and all of it is auto-crouch in certain areas to stealth and you can either find a gap in enemy patrols or take them out with headshots from you crossbow or do stealth takedowns when no one's looking.

You can also turn into a normal wolf for more stealth shenanigans but you can't operate technology, but you can auto turn back into your human form when you interact with doors, do takedowns or need to aim your crossbow.

This was an Epic Game Store Exclusive for a year and it's now on Steam. Having seen a lot of the reviews in that time, most people act like this is the worst thing ever, when there's honestly worse games out there. It's a pretty basic stealth/action-rpg game that is set in one of the World of Darkness TTRPG games.

Really I would recommend this to fans of the games who don't expect this to be some high-budget AAA experience and see it as an indie game with pretty bare-bones, but serviceable gameplay, graphics befitting of an early 2010's Xbox LIVE Arcade game, are not expecting some deep philosophical "we are the real monsters" storyline or whatever mumbo jumbo.

7/10 I want a werewolf mommy GF or whatever review score is popular with game journos these days.

Don't be like me, when you read the bad reviews for this game, take them seriously. It really only gets worse, not better, the longer the game winds on.

Also if good female character representation is something you are at all invested in, you are not going to like where this goes, at all.

It's also hella racist, so that's a thing.

When I saw the trailers for this game, the only way I could describe my hype for this type of game was indescribably high. Go into an area, sneak around and tear everything to pieces; it seemed like everything I could've wanted. Having the multiple forms of the Lupus and the Crinos seemed like such a blessing to me, but the most joy I got out of this game was jumping up and down as the Lupus.

Instead, all I got was a clunky 2010-2015 game with horrible graphics, worse controls, inputs from my mouse that wouldn't register so I would have to either get hits in or stealth kills by the skin of my teeth, stale protagonist and voice acting, and combat that devolved into me spamming one ability to build up Frenzy just to get through that portion of the game.

The game was clunky all throughout, but I could manage it in the first half. It just seemed to be a pretty standard stealth-action game with some jank that I could get through.

Then the Wyrm enemies came in.

I found myself groaning in frustration when each fight gave each enemy two health bars, losing interest in the game when I found that I just simply couldn't do a full stealth playthrough because you can't takedown the bigger grunts without alerting the entire continent of Europe about your sneaky antics.

Playing this was hellish. Admittedly, I put myself on the hardest difficulty (which would likely explain why everything was so tanky), but hard should actually have some scaling difficulties, not just a massive HP increase. Other games with harder difficulties have more involved in their scaling, so why was this difficulty level so lazy in comparison?

I expected a lot more from a game released in 2022. It needs more time in the oven. 3/10.

I don't know what people have a problem with with this game, really.

I do wonder if it's insecurities, I mean... Cahal is a kickass Irish bard with feelings who could rip you a new one regardless, and he's putning around the usual sorts of men with guns that gamers play as. So this is something I can't ignore. They just can't deal with a tree-hugging furry punting around white, gun-totating dudebros like ragdolls.

I, on the other hand, love it. I also like that instead of being some kind of greedy psychopath who's doing things for loot under the flimsiest of jutifications, I'm taking down a fossil fuel corporation. I can imagine that makes some uncomfortable too, but I bloody dig it.

The characters are a delight, Yfen I could just listen to reading a dictionary (his voice-actor was also responsible for Legion in Mass Effect), and while the voicework is very... European? I wouldn't call it bad, it's just more emotional than your usual AAA(A?) American fare. I'm a fan, I like it.

Running around as a wolf is a delight, the animations are well done and it's fluid. Wolves are a liquid. I mean, perhaps not as much as they are in Wolfwalkers but Cahal's woofly form is still quite fluid and a delight to just bound and parkour around with. Being open to new experiences and not wanting the same pasteurised, homogenised mush fed to me all the time, I enjoy movement as a wolf. I wish there were more games that allowed us to utilise different body types beyond the obviously familiar.

There are lots of neat little things, like snooping around for computers, notes, secrets, and hidden spirits, but the star of the show be crinos form. The werewolf! It's a really enjoyable brawler. I come from an oldschool background and sometimes I just like a video game that's a video game, rather than a "play to earn" grindfest with MTs and the exuberant and multitudinous forms of exploitation that work their way into so many mainstream games these days.

The brawler is just... fun. You know, fun. We used to have that, before everyone got brainwashed to think that games are jobs. It's a blast just bounding around the battlefield and the levelled-up crinos heavy form is one heck of a power fantasy, the catharsis is real.

I don't mind the writing either. It's very cheesy '90s action film with a very left-leaning intent and I kind of dig it. It's kind of like those gun films but if you were a tree-hugging werewolf rather than a fascist cop with a machinegun. So I really dig that, actually? Plus, Cahal has real dad energies and I like that he actually cares about things. As I'd already mentioned, so many "heroes" in modern video games are just gormless and unempathetic psychopaths who care only for their own gains.

It's just... It's refreshing. You'll either love it or you'll hate it. If you just want to be a consumer who consumes more of the same, you'll be very alienated and possibly even upset, confused, and disquieted by Earthblood. I mean, look, let me sum it up this way...

Would you rather...

a.) Be a musclebound, psychopathic barbarian in a fantasy setting, murdering likely innocent orcs for their loot and making flimsy essentialist justifications for your actions;

b.) Be a faceless white soldierboy with a gun, working for some kind of fascist institution or other, murdering people without ever wondering why you're doing it—but you obey anyway because that's what you do;

or...

c.) Be a tree-hugging, Irish dadwolf who's tearing up a fossil fuel corporation and hunting down evil execs to try and do whatever he's able to to protect the wild?

How you answer that will really tell you whether you'll like Earthblood or not. It's very left-leaning, it's very cheesy, it's unusual, and it's a bloody delight. It isn't every day that something like this comes along, it isn'f for everyone, it's janky (the best games are), and it doesn't have the soulless polish of the AAA(A) sludgy gruel that makes up the gaming diet of so many buuuut... It's unique, it's actually fun, and y'know what? I like it! I do. It's pretty great.

It's actually nice being a real good guy for once who does something about an actual evil. Plus, that dadwolf swagger. The heavy stance of the crinos form is so hilarious to me, I love it. It's also rad that the hero is a left-wing old fellah, rather than the fetishisation of youth that happens too often in video games. That's a European developer for you, though. Appreciably progressive.

Games made by Cyanide Studio's usually entail simple but fun gameplay, Mixed with an above average story, And Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood is no exception.

The story is very rich for those who are familiar with the tabletop game of the same name that it was adapted from, That being said, I would "highly" recommended people to watch some lore videos before playing Earthblood if they are not immediately familiar with the Werewolf: The Apocalypse series or the "World of Darkness" setting made famous by White Wolf, Mainly because you are dropped right into the thick of things as a veteran Garou (Werewolf) fighting for Gaia.

Players who want to play this should be aware of the shortcomings going in, It has very simple gameplay, It's also a very on-rails experience, And some of the gameplay can get repetitive after awhile as well as some lag spikes from time to time, Earthblood has it's flaws yes, But it is a very true and fun game.

And you will absolutely love this game if you enjoy the idea of striking back at a painfully obviously-evil corporation, Turning into a massive werewolf to fight corrupted monsters, Sneaking by guards in wolf-form like a furry John McClane and fighting against giant technological marvel Exo-suits as a completely earty and natural werewolf beefcake.

Bassilth

It would be a good game on paper.

A stealth and hack&slash game centered around werewolves and an extensive lore. The best part is that you can choose if you want to stealth the game or go all claws swinging. Unlike some people say, the game does not force stealth on you and you are not deadmeat if you fail to stealth until the end. You can just smash your way across the levels as a werewolf if you want. I loved this freedom. It meant I could spice up the levels by stealthing one part and just smashing in skulls in the next.

It was great.

Now onto the bad part. You knew it was coming.
As I said before, it would be a good game on paper but sadly it does not work with the current glitches and issues it is having.
1. Saving is a nightmare. There is no manual save and the game only, strictly only saves at checkpoints. So, if you do some side missions, collect some stuff before a main mission and die before reaching a checkpoint... good luck collecting all the spirits, reading all the notes, and redoing your side missions again.
2. Stealth is a glitchy mess. If as a lupus your tail sticks out from the mesh of a cover, the enemy will spot you for some reason. If you stealth kill someone, the body might glitch out and go crazy. Like, falling through walls right onto the path of a patrolling enemy, or flies around the floor like possessed by a demon and alerts the entire level of its presence. Yes, both happened to me multiple times.
3. I would have no issues with graphics if it was properly optimized. I mean, it looks like a game from 2010 but requires a PC from 2030 to run it without issues.

The only reason I am even daring to give it a thumbs up is that I enjoyed the gameplay, despite these issues and gave a nice 20 hours of entertainment. Ignore the 1,5 hours, though. That was due to me redoing side missions and collectibles because of the terrible saving system.

Not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but...

I like werewolves, and I think that there should be more of them. You may be consider me biased here.

So, with that disclaimer, I'd say the game is pretty good. It's not perfect, and could probably have used a bit more polish overall. I could list a few things that I think could have improved the game, but overall, I found it rather enjoyable.

It's got some fun stealth sections, though I admit, some seemed like stealth was just a no go - though maybe that's just me wanting to eliminate all enemies in a room when I shouldn't. But, when stealth does not suffice, you can wolf out, and the combat there is pretty solid, with two stances to switch between, special skills for each, and a berserk mode to quite literally go wild on things. The story is pretty decent too, though if you're not familiar with some of the original WtA lore, it might be a little confusing.

Overall, I enjoyed it, so it gets my recommendation.

I refunded due to Ps2 level design and AI and general enemy placement the fact that your a Werewolf and the coolest thing about it in this game is being able to shift into a actual wolf only to go thru batman Vents (NOT FUN). The levels are broken into segments for stealth and action or a mix if and when it works. The stealth segments are forced so screw the people who say it isn't I hit plenty of hes here and bam check point restart. This would have been a GOW with some effort to the fact that your a supernatural creature?????? but hey lets fight robots....?????? Or a guy 5ft2 can block with a riot shield? Dude not from a 9 ft tall beast Poor design poor AI poor voice acting and who cares if a CGI looks good in 2022 RE did it just as good 20 years ago. This wasn't supposed to turn into a rant on the games faults but it did. On the Plus side visually it looks nice enough to pass for a competent game. unfortunately it just falls short and into the bargin bin with Dantes inferno.

𒈒Asura𒈒

Werewolf the apocalypse is a hidden gem of a game I’d argue that the game is even underrated I’ll go ahead and break down what I liked and disliked about this game please note I will not be spoiling anything during my review!

#Story issues
If you are coming into this game with the mindset that this game is going to have a complex and ground breaking story then you are not going to enjoy this game for that aspect because the story never really allows you to connect with any of the characters emotionally in the story meaning you will meet a character the character dies and you just don't feel sad that the character died because the game never really allowed you to form a connection with any of the characters. I definitely would have liked if the game provided backstory about Cahal as when you first boot the game up it feels like the game just started you in the middle of the game not the beginning as the game doesn't give me a reason to care for any character which sucks as you will see many scenes where you think i should be sad for this character however why am i not feeling sad and it all goes back to the game failing to give you a reason to feel invested and connected with any of the characters.

#Graphics/glitches/Ai
The game definitely could have used a little polishing when it came down to the Graphics now the graphics are pretty good however I feel that the graphics could have been a lot better as character models aren’t amazing looking in this game especially that one character model of the business suit dude near the beginning of the game his head model low key looked like clay. Some objects don’t have any collusion so you can phase your character through the object. The AI could have been improved as the AI feel like robots instead of dynamic humans walking around during the sneaking sections. I hope the devs update the AI as it's very bare bones when it comes to the stealth sections as the AI will either stand in one spot forever or a AI will walk around in circles forever which kinda breaks immersion for me seeing how limited the AI was during stealth.

#Gameplay
The game play is very smooth and responsive i would hands down have to say the gameplay is very good this is the part of the game where it shines the most you are sadly limited to a bow as your primary weapon as a human however you can choose to switch between human and lupin at any time both lupin and human offer a good mix up of gameplay/tatics. However the best form is of course the Werewolf when you play as the werewolf you can feel the weight behind the werewolf movement and attacks you can upgrade the Werewolfs abilities via the perk tree in the main menu however in order to do so you will have to collect spirit points from smelling plants that you will bump into randomly during your journey to beat this amazing game!!!

#Game pretending that your choices matter.
One slightly annoying thing that this game does many times is it makes you think that if you pick the wrong option that your actions have consequences but in reality your choices really don't matter like at all when it comes to how you answer back via the wheel of options i would have liked if my choices did matter and had weight behind them. The only time that your actions have weight behind them is when you get to the end of the game where you have to choose between two options which is a shame. Furthermore i found the dialogue wheel text to be a little confusing as you don't know exactly what cahal will say basically we have the fallout 4 dialogue issue in the game sadly i would have liked more context when it came to choosing the dialogue options from the wheel.

#Conclusion
But with all that said I don’t regret buying Werewolf the Apocalypse Because I bought the game for 1 reason and that was to play as a werewolf and slaughter human beings in the game and it’s very enjoyable. If you don’t have a love for werewolves or don’t like fast pace combat then I wouldn’t recommend this game to you however if you like werewolves and enjoy the fast pace combat then I would 900% recommend this game to you definitely go and get this game during a sale or even buy it at full price even with the issues I listed above they don’t take away from the overall experience of just slashing people apart as the werewolf every level was fun and I can see myself replaying this game a lot. I give werewolf the apocalypse a solid 10/10 for it’s amazing werewolf role playing experience you feel powerful and plus the werewolf model is THICC.

Game of the year for me for 2022

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood – an Action-Adventure/Brawler, based on the Pen&Paper “Werewolf: The Apocalypse” (first published 1992), part of the “World of Darkness”.

Before I start my review, two things up front:

1. There are other reviews claiming that you instantly fail if you are caught during stealth. This is nonsense. Whoever claims this, has not played past the first mission, which is still part of the tutorial and the “don’t be caught”-mechanic is just relevant in the first half of that mission. After that you are mostly free to choose how you want to approach a situation: Stealth to take out as many enemies as possible before the bloody fighting starts or go in “Red in Tooth and Claw” right from the start.

2. The game developer, “cyanide studio”, is a rather small company and not a big shot with a huge amount of budget. So this is NOT an AAA-Game made by some huge studio and it is their first brawler game (other games by cyanide for example are “Call of Cthulhu” and “Styx: Master of Shadows”). So don’t expect top-notch-graphics by today’s standards and huge diversity in gameplay. This is a classic (some might even say “old-school”) Action-Adventure/Brawler-Game set in the World of Darkness. So keep that in mind.

About the game: As a huge fan of the original Pen&Paper I was thrilled to hear that we would finally be getting a game based on “Werewolf: The Apocalypse” (there were two other attempts many years ago, both failed). Knowing it was a small studio and following the marketing and information about the game closely I checked my expectations concerning the graphics and focused on the gameplay and how the lore it was based on was treated.

And I was NOT disappointed. I had a lot of fun playing the game, I enjoyed the story and characters, the stealth parts (although the AI could have been a bit more challenging), the ability to change between Human- and Wolf-form, but even more so the fighting style in the 9-feet-tall Crinos-form (the “warform” of the Garou). The animations and movements of the Werewolf- and Wolf-form are great and the setting, tone and music capture a lot of the atmosphere of the original Pen&Paper.

*Maybe I should mention, that I bought it on Epic Games when it came out in February 2021 and played it various times before I decided to buy it here on steam a second time to support the developer*

The story is fast paced and straightforward but decent and the depiction of the lore is mostly pretty accurate when it comes to the adaptation of the original source material. There are a lot of details that players of the Pen&Paper will recognize and it is clear to me, that the team of developers, though definitely limited by budget and time, truly love the RPG their game is based upon.

That said, fans of “Werewolf: The Apocalypse” will indeed understand a lot more of the hints and details of the story and about what is going and why it is happening, than the average gamer. The developers present the quite complex lore of the Pen&Paper here in a more simplified way and let some aspects of it unmentioned, so anyone who is completely new to “Werewolf: The Apocalypse” won’t get “lore-bombed”. And they converted a usually pack-oriented RPG (Garou gather and fight in packs) into a straightforward single-player campaign.

I recommend to every player: Talk to the important NPCs, and not just once but on several occasions. Gather as much information as you can, explore the hub areas and levels, look for spirits, read the documents and listen to the conversations of other characters. It pays of and you get a better understanding of the whole background of the story and feeling of the setting, which benefits especially those who don’t know the RPG.

Is it a perfect game? No. Is it the Open World-I can choose my own character/breed/moon auspice/tribe-kind of game that many fans of the Pen&Paper wished for? No. Would I prefer if it would have been way bigger with a longer story, wider areas, more background and more lore? Absolutely. But it is a solid AA-game with a lot of passion for the source material, a fun hack-and-slash combat system and a great soundtrack.

If you love Werewolves, Wolves or are a fan of “Werewolf: The Apocalypse” you should definitely give it a try.

I've waited for years to play this. I enjoyed both Vampire titles. way waaay back.
I thought, wow when someone gets around to making a werewolf title it's going to be even better.
I realized it could miss the mark on what I imagine.
But this...
missing the mark is an understatement.
I don't want to give it a thumbs down because I'd really like to see a great Werewolf game.
But the future of the Dark World universe doesn't hang on the balance of my one vote.
But it's future does if enough people play this and think, "wow I'll never play another Dark World game, not ever."

If you do give this a try, don't be too disappointed.
In the meantime, I'm giving it a thumbs down and recommending you look elsewhere.

The game is fun for what it is. It's not pushing a message at me, it doesn't punish me for not being stealthy, and the story while not fantastic also isn't horrible. I like that I can challenge myself by trying to clear an entire room without a single person seeing me, or just hulk out and whole sale slaughter everyone. The Crinos form FEELS powerful and I love that, it takes something of my own caliber to actually stand against me and thats fun.

That being said there's the obvious issues like the graphics. The facial expressions are very robotic and things look like they're from 2010, not 2021. Spirit hunting, while fun at times, can get tiresome. They give you a crossbow, and talents to increase it, but theres so little ammo I never saw a reason to use it. One of the times I did use it two bolts hit an invisible wall and the third disappeared.

If you're going to get this I highly recommend waiting until its 10 to 15.

If you're familiar with the WoD setting, Werewolf - The Apocalypse, or just like werewolves in general you should definitely give this game a look. It's a little dated graphically but it does a good job atmospherically.

I liked it very much, it reminds me of a beautiful game from childhood games which is the Altered Beast, polished And a special game

I can't shake the feeling that with just a little more effort put into it, a little more variety, more polished graphics and animations, and a bit more depth to the story, this game could have become something memorable. Especially considering the vast World of Darkness lore (that I can not claim to be too familiar with).
But the way it is now, it just looks and feels kind of bland. Like a remnant of the early 2010s, rediscovered in 2021.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game in its own right.
Voice acting is good, story is ok, gameplay is ok, the skill tree is ok, the graphics are... kind of ok I guess (aside from facial expressions and dialogue animations, obviously). Everything is neat, but nothing is great. Except for the fact that you can turn into a nine foot werewolf, ripping your enemies to shreds. But that is probably the only thing that sets it apart from a bunch of other games that already covered all other aspects in a more fun and exciting way.

The current Steam price however is fair and if you happen to get it on sale, you can't really go wrong with it.
Despite its obvious shortcomings, I still had fun playing it and if you are down for a dark fantasy werewolf sneak/slasher game, then it's the best you can get at the moment.
If Splinter Cell and Risen had an edgy teenage furry child, it would be this.

While the graphics may be a bit outdated and it seems kinda easy to get through even on hard mode I truly enjoyed this game. If you're looking for a good story and just something to bash your way through enemies as a werewolf, this is your game. At the beginning you'll have to sneak around in wolf form but after that, let the chaos commence~ When will you Rage?

I loved playing Werewolf and was really looking forward to dipping into this world. Instead we've got what could be an interesting story line, but the poor everything else makes it almost impossible to have any interest in the story and characters.

So the everything else:
- Poor character acting and bland voice work.
- Poor character animation, particularly for something released so recently.
- Poorly laid out, railroading levels.
- Glitchy and immersion breaking transitions (like moving in and out of ventilation ducts).
- Limited AI with repetitive patterns and janky movement.
- Limited and rather bland upgrade tree.
- Janky movement of character.
- Bland button mashing combat.
- Stealth doesn't feel stealthy, just walking around as a wolf and stealth status is lost with little warning and instantaneous ant like response from AI. Overall just a poor implementation of a stealth mechanic.
- Models and textures are OK, but they get repetitive very rapidly so places look very samey.

Overall it looks like a 10 year old console game and plays like a 20 year old one.

A short but fun character action game. If playing for a weekend as a werewolf slaughtering hordes of monsters sounds fun, then you will enjoy it.

There are so many things that work here, but they are not so polished and explored deeper. Combat and stealth are good but repetitive and without depth. Voice acting is terrible - especially the protagonist. The plot itself is also without depth. I see a heart there tho. Some more time in the oven and it could have been way better and polished in general.
I guess I can recommend it to the fans of the franchise. That one is for sure.

Entire time I was playing the game I was thinking "You know, I could be playing an arkham game right now", because honestly that's what it feels like. A knock-off arkham game. It's at least a fun game to riff on with people, but like outside of that I couldn't really recommend it.

The gameplay is fun, the story is there. The only downside is the animations in rendered scenes are bad.
for the price of 20 bucks or 30 is perfect, you get what you pay for. If you find it cheaper go for it, but if you take cut scenes over gameplay this game is not for you. the movement is solid for all three Human, stealth wolf mode and werewolf mode. the combat as a Werewolf Is really fun destroying and killing anything in sight.

7/10

Reminds me of the P&P RPG sessions I took part in back when I was in high school. Sure, it is clunky and technologically from a previous age of video games. In my opinion though, it has that P&P Werewolf feeling about it that alone allows me to safely recommend it.

Basically a generic werewolf murder simulator where you kill endless numbers of soldiers. It's good for that and not much else.

You get way more special attacks and finishing moves than you actually need. You can tell they designed the combat around making you feel like a badass before they did anything else, because everything else feels tacked on. It's not particularly difficult either; it's just the simple joy of killing endless faceless grunts as an unstoppable murdermonster with a surprisingly good control scheme and satisfying combos and combat options.

The storyline is as bland as they come, and the voiceacting and conversational gesturing are especially wooden. If you care at all about the tabletop RPG then you probably won't like this unless you really just want to murder things as a werewolf.

This game is not worth the asking price. It's story is shoddy, it's voice acting is terrible, it's game-play is basic AF, and it's graphics are pathetic for the time it was made. Also the trailers are basically false advertisement, they basically just hype up this crappy game by showing a 4k cinematic and get your heart racing with heavy metal. The only thing that makes this game worth playing at all is the fact that this is the 1st World of Darkness game that is not a tabletop or book that goes into the story of the world's Lycanthropes. BTW still waiting on Bloodlines 2 to release, losing hope that it ever will.

I'm having a blast playing this game.
No matter how accurate or harsh the negative reviews might be, the most important thing of all, the FUN, is there, and I'm enjoying and having FUN in every bit of this game. I also enjoy the narrative a lot.
By the way: I saw negative reviews that said that you "instantly loose when getting spotted while in Stealth mode"... I'm not sure if they played the game at all, because that is only at the BEGINNING of the game, after the TUTORIAL is over, you turn into a full on werewolf when getting spotted in Stealth mode and then the fight begins, there is no "instant" loosing, just "fairly beaten to death by humans riding mechas".

For me, this game is ruined by way too many forced chaotic group battles and checkpoints that are insanely far apart. The stealth sections are quickly stopped down because you enter a room with too many guards all standing around facing directions that encourage you to morph into a werewolf and destroy everything. The difficulty of these battles gets excessively challenging too the further you progress even on so-called easy difficulty, especially when facing guards with full body shields. There is also no manual save, so you are forced to repeat extremely lengthy sections over and over again. I mean these checkpoints are so far away that you have to repeat multiple sections with multiple group battles. The graphics are also outdated, character models look terrible, and voice acting is atrocious. Overall, I found this to be a cheap and outdated feeling experience that I cannot recommend.

I'm refunding this game after 30 minutes of gameplay, because the voice acting is really bad i mean resident evil 1 bad i can't take it. Figthing as a werewolf is not fun, just keep left clicking until they are dead there are some special moves but they look bad, and if there are to many enemies you can't tell whats going on. The animations are weird, it looks like a ps4 game and not a good one ( When you bite someone's head off the werewolf i nowhere near the guy's head it almost looks like a game bug ). I also had some sound bugs during the gameplay and the graphics look old even at 4k. I bought this game during the summer sale and a 40% discount is not enough to keep it also i've read somewhere that Werewolf: The Apocalypse Earthblood is very short lees that 8 hours :(

guilhermewalk
guilhermewalk

A very decent hack and slash/stealth game, although it's mechanics could have been better explored. There are very few combos, the stealth is really simple, and there are even some overlooked anoying details, like the fact the character always stands to aim with the crosbow, which makes you visible when crouching behind cover. Anyways, it's a fun game if you are into simple and direct action.

That said, if you were into the lore of the pen and paper game, you will hardly be disapointed. There's no meaningless fan service here. The references and the lore work solidly in favour of the experience.

Also, on a quick comment, the voice acting isn't as half as bad as most people think, the actors could have made some more effort, true, but all the voices are nicely cast and a match for how the characters look.

A fun 7/10 game for fans of the pen and paper game, and perhaps 5/10 for others, but still fun.

While I can see some other people's comments about the voice acting being a LITTLE rough in spots and the graphics for the talking scenes being a little last generation graphics (not the cinematics though), this was still a very good game, and I would recommend it to my friends. I have been waiting 20 years for them to finally come out with a Werewolf: Apocalypse game, and I'm thrilled with what I got here. The gameplay was simply designed but direct, and it didn't take a huge learning curve to get the hang of either slinking around in shadows or running great distances as a wolf, or just going brutal on hordes of enemies as Crinos. Limiting the number of forms from 5 down to 3 is a little sad, but totally understandable for a gameplay and programming perspective, and all the really important forms are there for situational needs. While I was hoping that the game that came out for Werewolf would be a little more RPG grounded (character creation, birth form, auspice, etc.), I am thrilled with this game and do not regret purchasing it. my only regret is that I didn't realize it had been made until last week. :)
