Do you love getting angry at cute lil cartoon characters? Do you love punishing yourself with unplayable maps with uncooperative camera controls? Well, boys and girls, do I have a game for you. Jump into a world where the plot is unclear, the art is creepy-cute, and be ready to get really annoyed really quickly. If you love platformers, you won't love this game. But if you do love masochism... This was made for you in mind.

Simply put, the game is fun, cute, short, and has good music and animation. I really enjoyed playing it and is one of the best games I have played on Steam, yet I haven't really played that many. However, I wouldn't have paid its full price for it is way too short. I recommend getting it on special, but do get the DLC.

P.S. I hope this game gets more DLC's with additional levels but seeing its sequel is out already I hardly doubt that will happen. Either way, I'll get the second version to this game when it is put on special.

This is a game about Woodle and his grand adventure spanning the width, length, and height, of a humongous tree and its many branches.

It's terrible but it's also like 10 cents on sale so you could get 15 minutes of gameplay for that much. If you think about it proportinally 10 cents * 2.5 = 25 cents (price of a gumball) and 15 * 2.5 = 37.5.

In other words, if you try to justify buying this game 2 and a half times as opposed to a gumball you can get 37.5 minutes of fun hypothetically. Does a gumball last 37.5 minutes? Maybe. But by then it's stale and hard and gross and you should stick it to the bottom of something you don't own.

I personally really enjoyed this little game, the art style is beautiful, the music is relaxing.
The game itself is not very challenging but it does have that relaxation vibe to it which I loved.
Sometimes the camera can be a bit annoying but that adds a little challenge while your playing, good game for kids and adults alike.
Recommended.

Rather minimalistic simple jump'n'run. Basic, easy, good for newcomers in gaming. Although, jump sequences may be an issue at times, due to the standard 3D jump'n'run stiff camera problem.

The camera is ok when it works but can freak out (in terms of not adjusting to the level segment you enter/leave), overall you shouldn't look too much into the technical parts of the game altogether.

Had quite some fun with it regardless. Initially bought this because of the aesthetics reminding me of N64 and Kirby, don't expect much though.

Woodle Tree Adventures caught my attention when I first saw it. I had it in my wishlist for a while and purchase it in a bundle with Woodle Tree Adventures 2. It's a simply platformer but very enjoyable depending on the type of gamer you are. Me being a gamer, I'm open to any game that interests me, it just needs to be fun. I did have fun playing this game, and I felt rather relaxed playing it too, mostly due to the the impressive soundtrack and level design, My only problem with this game however is it's respawn system and what I mean is when you reach block B from block A. If you die father from block B, you'll respawn back to block B, but if you die closer to it, or just fell it cause the edges are very slippy and you can fall off easily if you by the edge. You'll spawn back to block A, which made the game more challenging and kept me on my toes. The story was straight forward, and what some could say basic. But I felt like the gameplay itself helps explains the story more when you playing it. I would give this game a 9/10 and I even found myself revisiting it just to play again.

Rather poorly made game, but maybe it could be the dev's first game ever released on Steam? (Can't really be bothered to research this.) Camera controls hardly exist. Level design is mostly bland. Very easy 100% achievement completion though if that's what you're after, but you'll hate almost every minute of it.

A lot can go wrong in designing a 3d platformer. Most of those things did, in fact, go wrong in Woodle Tree Adventures. This might have been passable on Playstation 1. Now that you can get a lot better stuff for the same price, even in a bundle, I see no reason to bother downloading this game.

The "music" gave me a migraine. Literally 90% of it is just notes assembled without any tempo or melody. Also, the volume of the music changes seemingly randomly in the middle of some tracks. One of the few games I've ever played that's made me feel nauseous from the sound design alone. And the level design isn't much better - it follows a similar pattern as the music which is to say it doesn't follow a pattern at all. It's just shapes thrown all over the place for you to jump between. And if you fall down? Better hope the game actually registers that you're near a checkpoint, or you'll be sent back to the very start of the level... which will happen 2/3 of the time. The camera will make sure you do fall off the edge a few times, too, or walk straight into an enemy that you had no idea was there (because you were walking towards the screen...)
Avoid this shovelware like the plague.

This game isn't good, it's not even worth $1, get it for $0.50 or less if you really want to waste 30-45 minutes.

Now I'll talk about random stuff that comes to mind:

The only good thing I can say about this game is that it has 2 player local co-op, so you could get a few laughs with a friend, but the co-op serves no purpose in the game itself, and is completely pointless, like most things in this game.

There isn't any reason to collect berries or fight enemies, the first leaf upgrade is the only one thats an actualy upgrade, it changes your attack to ranged, the others are just visual effects.

The extra level for 800 berries isn't worth your time, it's a short underwater level with nearly no platforming, and it isn't required to complete the game or get all the achievments.

The platforming itself is bare bones with no evolving difficulty across the 7 levels in the game, there are no puzzles or any meaningful variation between enemies, and if you just run to the end the game ignoring all of the pointless berries and enemies, you can beat it in as little as 6 minutes.

Outside of the game, you can get 7 achievements in about 45 minutes (which is 87% completion according to steam), with the eighth one requiring you to farm 3000 berries.

There are far better games for you to spend your time on that don't cost any money, but it's ultimately up to you.

You play as a sentient tree log collecting acorns for upgrades and fairy tears. This is a platforming game. The conrolls are basic and enemies are not very challenging. I would get this game only if you want to play with young kids. You can play multiplayer as a beaver with a second controller and help who ever is the main character

This game is simple and you cannot controll the camera which is annoying but can still be enjoyable. The game is fun but I am only reccomending it because of the price.

Slambot6
Slambot6

Not a very pleasant game.
Soft and charming characters and models look very clunky due to amateur animations. Music is uninspired, unmemorable.
Biggest crime is the level design. Not overly fun to play due to blocky and soul-less mapping. Gameplay is serviceable for a 3D platformer, but does not stand well against other platforming titles. Unsatisfying ending, minimal story.
Recommended if you want a quick, simple and cheap 3D platformer.
Not recommended if you expect a memorable 3D platformer.

Nice things: Woodeley cute stuff
Bad stuff:
1. Crappy Camera Control
2. Sound Effects (The jumping sound effect gets irritating)
3. Music doesn't seem to fit the whole cutesy world.

Also could not tell the difference between a NPC and a enemy :/

This is the best game i have ever played and i doubt there will be a better one, until the elder scrolls 6 comes out. 3 and a half years later i still find interest in starting a whole new character and there are so many possibilities in terms of what class you choose to create. The quests and joy are never ending with this game, im always finding something new or a new quest. The modding community is great, and you can further extend the length and depth of this already massive game with the mods. Also the DLC's are amazing and a great addition. If you haven't played this game before, don't wait around just buy it already, what are you waiting for!!

If you value your sanity, you will run away.

The controls are atrocious, moreso the camera than anything. The movement is slippery. It was an okay attempt but not that great of a game by any means. I'd rather play Brilliant Bob than go back for the last achievements.

[WBW] Botched Attempt
[WBW] Botched …

The controls are straightforward but movement is incredibly awkward. Not fifteen minutes into this game, I found a bug that messed up the camera angle so badly that I couldn't even play anymore and had to restart. The game might be fun if it had some polish on the controls. But it doesn't, and it isn't.

Ok guys, we morning tree stumps now.

Or don't know. Remember when Steam sales were still exciting and you would buy random super cheap game just out of curiousity, while believing that you save a lot of money anyway? And now we just don't want to clutter our library with less than decent game.

Well, this is less than decent game. A 3D platformer of sorts. Super simplistic. It tries to remind you of Mario 64 or so times, but the main difference is that those old 3D platformers made you feel like exploring real-like yet designed in fun ways places and obstacles. Well, real-like compared to 2D gaming. Here it's all blocks in air after blocks in air. Controls is simple aside from part where you can turn yet can't slow down in air. Weird.

And I don't know. No bosses. You whack enemies with a leaf, they lazily die. Very passive. Too easy aside from platforming. Sometimes you respawn from what appears to be a checkpoint, sometimes at a start of a level. It's kinda not offensively bad... but... is that it? Also, 6 short levels plus a bonus one. Yeh.

Feels like a student project than a real game to sell on Steam, you know.

Super cute and relaxing. Good (also chill) music loop--I don't even notice. Fun to pass time while still feeling like you've done something (AKA collecting bits). Anyone of any age can play; enemies are varied but not difficult to defeat.
Only thing is, you can't control the camera angle. You can zoom in/out wiht the mouse by moving forward/backward, but the angle itself only changes when the game wants to or when you step into a different area.
[EDIT]: *As I play more the camera is getting worse. In some areas you must walk along narrow paths or fall off. Because the camera controls your walk angle as well (forward is directly away from camera, etc.) it can be very difficult and annoying.*

Haven't tested 2player mode--YET. +I see a review that says there isn't 2P, but there's an acheivement for it so we'll see+
I'm an adult and still enjoy it.

Pros:
-adorable and unique asthetic
-relaxing gameplay
-decent music
-easy (I'm someone who gets angry at games very easily, but not Woodle Tree!)

Cons:
-camera control could **definitely** be improved

I bought this game for around 23 cents so i marked the check box because i feel like i received it for free. In this game you are a literal tree stump with legs walking around like a penguin. You have no objective. Just walk around like a penguin. Would rate 10/10.

This game is mediocre, plain and simple. The problem is this game could be pretty good, however its not. If they put a bit more effort into the game and did two simple fixes of giving the player camera control, and stopped forward momentum when you hit the ground from a ledge, this game would be at least semi enjoyable. But as it stands this game feels severely unpolished and shouldn't have been released to the main market.

quagma3

Not really the best of games. Camera needs some serious work, as it is often the cause of failing a level, or dying to an enemy you literally cannot see. First times i tried to play it it wouldn't even work properly, due to the massive lag I experienced. Level design needs work. If the camera and loading issues were fixed, this would be an okay game that would be worth getting on sale.

Okay story, backpack gets too big during play through. Those two parts of the sentence were completely unrelated, but needed saying. I wanted to refund it, but it was too long between buying it and playing it. It's really too bad the developer didn't listen to the criticisms of his game, bc they made a second one with the exact same problems.

Characters are cute, just needs a lot of work to play. IF you still have your mind set on it, get it on sale.

[Defunct] consoleArgonaut
[Defunct] cons…

Woodle tree adventures tries to be a collectathon platformer just like banjo and mario. However the game is completely blend and boring. You can finish it in 1 hour and don't want to go back to it afterward.
The game uses a fixed camera which makes it nearly unplayable at times and the music is just way to uninteresting.
I really tried to like this game, especially for its cute art style, but I just couldn't.
Don't buy this game.

Rating:
Gameplay: 2/5 - The controls are okay but you can't move the camera.
Level Design: 2/5 - There is no challenge at all and the levels are very blend in general
Soundtrack: 1/5 - It just doesn't work with the game
Story: 3/5 - Enough for a platformer
Graphics: 3/5 - The game looks pretty
Length: 1/5 - Less than 1 hours long
Replay Value: 1/5 - Nearly non existing
Enjoyment: 2/5 - Sadly, I couldn't really enjoy this game at all

So this game is probably the best game of all time. I mean dont kid yourself just look at those graphics. Any game where you play as a tree stump named woodle is just an absolute top notch game. One con i have about the game is that there is way too much gore in this game but not enough to effect the amazing plot.

100/10 IGN Game of the Year

Dephite
Dephite

It's a small game (1 hour for a full playthrough). The music is mainly based on the piano, but it fits the whole theme and is probably the best part about the game. The controls feel off at times and there are still some glitches on the map, as well as surfaces that your character will surpass, even though the character model appears to be directly on it. The story is shallow and you have no involvement what so ever. On the other hand, it doesn't throw a 20 minute tutorial at you, not even a 10 minute one. You get a 1 minute 'cutscene' as an intro and off you go. I can't recommend it as a game, but if you get it for free and you're looking for a game you can play while watching netflix or listening to music, this is probably what you want. However I wouldn't recommend anyone straight up buying it.
Not even for 3€. 1/10

Humλm
Humλm

The game is colorful and has a fine amount of design variations in its levels, however the controls and camera angles for me were anger-inducing, and the loading positions each time the player dies are very irritating, confusing and underwhelming. Game should have gone through proper play-testing before release because I feel like it hasn't.

I did not fully enjoy the game, but based on it's price, I will not "NOT RECOMMEND" it, perhaps the developer can fix these issues and it would actually turn out to be a pretty simple & nice game to pass by.

Overall I'm giving it a 3.5 out of 10 in its current state.

Woodle Tree Adventures is a 3D platformer with a cute art style.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=549949923

You play a little log on the quest of collecting magical water drops on 6 different worlds. Your weapon is a leaf and you can unlock more powerful ones by accumulating enough berries which are scattered around everywhere in the worlds. While the first leaf is only a very short ranged whack, the upgrades cast a tiny tornado.

Many complain about the camera angle. I agree that the default angle is often a frustrating hindrance, but fret not, you can actually control the camera which allows you to have a positive experience.

Unfortunately there are other flaws, such as the gameplay which needs improvements.
First of all, it is too easy. The enemies are barely a threat, especially after unlocking the second leaf. They are no challenge.
Second problem is, whenever you die - usually by clumsily falling off a platform down into the void - you get set back all the way to the starting point of the level. Slain enemies and collected berries do not respawn, that's a boring backtracking.

Another issue is the music. It is - how should I word it? - unpolished. Watch and listen to the video on the store page. The rhythm feels a bit off, I get this unpleasant feeling that notes don't exactly hit their right spot and being played somewhat random. Different parts feel a bit butchered together. The leading instrument is often hasty, jumpy and hard. The music lacks proper intonation, harmony and smoothness. Overall the soundtrack makes me feel uneasy which doesn't fit into that cute world.

The game has 6 worlds, it is short, and most of the time has been spent with collecting 3000 berries for that one achievement by repeating a level over and over again.

I think the most fun in the game I had was messing around with the jumping in the world-select area.

I give it 'ok' just to encourage creators to make more games like this or at least with such a gameplay, but graphics looks like Wind Waker made in Unity, camera is the biggest enemy and 1.5 h to unlock all the content, seriously?
And you really want me to play the same levels all over again to unlock all the achievements?

Woodle Tree Adventures is a bright, colorful platforming game where you play as an adorable little tree...thing.

Your goal is to collect 'fairy tears' and 'berries' for your Deku-Tree Father, who gives me King of the Cosmos vibes. The jumping and moving feels okay, but the game is completely bogged down by a truly horrendous camera and a very unresponsive attack. It's also unclear which creatures on each stage will attack you or are just part of the environment.(Some of them get sad when you whack them with your leaf-weapon-thing too, which is sad)

On the plus side, there's no real fail-state(falling off the world or being hit by an enemy just sends you back to the start of the level, with all your items still collected), though no chance of failure can also be a negative.

There's a creepy lack of music or sound in some areas. It feels very much like a beginner's attempt at a game. Rough and unpolished, but there was clearly an idea there to make a fun, neat little game. Would be okay for very young children.

The good part is that there is not much violence if at all in this game so it suits the purpose, as I took it for my kid.
The bad part is that the camer angle can't be changed and the zoom and perspective crashes in mnay ways.
It feels like an unfinished game for sure.

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure why the reviews of this game are not worse. Essentially you are playing as a tree stump collecting water and berries. It is a simple 3d platformer, with not much more to it.

In fact, I would say there is much more negative than positive for this. The camera is absolutely horrendous. It is really hard to do anything in the game without the game getting all f**ked up. This makes the controls also annoying to use. Perhaps if they had actually designed it better I would be reconsidering this review. The levels are also not exactly stimulating, and it seems like something that a beginner at Unity would make. Some other positive reviews seem to enjoy that it uses pretty cute designs, but that is not an excuse for a poorly designed game.

Overall, this game needs a lot of fixing for me to consider recommending.

Woodle Tree Adventures may be a pretty platformer with colorful visuals and cheerful music, however gameplay is just meh. The character movement and jumping is a bit stiff, and player camera control is really limited, on a freaking 3D platformer.
Fortunately, the game is short, with 6 (+ 1 bonus) stages total where you need to collect 3 water droplets and reach the end in each of them. Took me little more than an hour to complete it, and for cheap, it is enjoyable, even with the gameplay problems. Has 8 easy achievements if you use an exploit as well.

Obey the Fist!
Obey the Fist!

Woodle Tree Adventures is a 9 year old console ported low poly family friendly 3D platformer with a minecraft-esque visual style. Gameplay consists of 3D third person platforming as you awkwardly control a treestump/cinnamon roll and collect water drops and berries, and smack enemy critters with a leaf. Ok whatever, the problem here isn't the concept, it's the shoddy implementation.

From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with.

The game features lazy low-polygon voxel "Minecraft"-like "art", making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. A lot of amateur developers see Minecraft's success and assume it's because it looks bad, not because it had unique and appealing game mechanics, and they try to emulate the success without understanding it. It also happens to be easy, and doesn't need any proper talent in terms of game development/graphic artists etc. That's why reviewers are faced with so many of these terrible games with confrontingly bad graphics. Developers must learn that Minecraft succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them.

The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. The camnera controls are complete trash, owing to the console heritage of the game (more on that in a bit).

PC gamers will be insulted by the demand from the developer that a console peasant children's toy controller should be used, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for, and must never, under any circumstances dictate to gamers how their games are to be experienced.

Because this is a console game, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the inferior console gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the console-centric developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for consoles forces upon a game. Once more, console peasants have made gaming worse for everyone.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

Woodle Tree Adventures didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for completing the first simple level (less than 5 minutes), but only around 14 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game.

Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show only 14 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the game? Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.

Woodle Tree Adventures is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
