When WRC 10 was for me worse game than Dirt Rally 2.0 by far, then WRC Gen is finally better in general (historic cars are still bad and feel of the track is not quite there still). Improved handling, visuals and tracks. Also mechanics like seeing weather while choosing tyres has been improved. Beautiful and fun racing game.

Would recommend as a rally simulator. The graphics for this game are impressive, however physics at times can be a bit iffy. Sometimes you get a shot of oversteer and it feels a little unrealistic at times. With this the suspension physics can be strange, when going over jumps the car tends to bounce. Is it better than Dirt 2.0? I Would say so, although i'd wait for a steam sale since the game is a bit pricey.

Might sound cheeky but I mean it 100%: this year's updates would have done better,(no, not just as well, better ) as DLC for WRC 10. My first impressions of this game were nothing but positive, but after about 30 minutes I realized the number and magnitude of problems with this year's game.

Others have already gone into the problems with the cars in the new WRC Rally1 top class of competition, but as a TL;DR: instead of KT Racing actually developing the new cars from scratch(which, with all the massive changes this year's regs brought about, would be the only way to do these cars justice), it *really* feels like they just took the old cars from last year's season/game, reskinned them, moved some stats around, and called it a day.

But there's a lot more problems than just that: they've somehow managed to take a step back and made driving on tarmac, the one thing that previous WRC indisputably executed on better than DiRT Rally 2.0, feel way, way worse. Jimmy Broadbent said it best when he described it as feeling as though they took the gravel physics and just added more traction, which anyone will tell you, that's not how tarmac rallying feels.
Not to mention my current biggest problem with the game at this juncture, which affects every car in every class, on every stage of all the rallies in the game: the huge and exceptionally weird discrepancy between pedal+e-brake inputs, and the output you get in the game. For a start, the cars do basically nothing until you get up to about 80% throttle. On brakes, you've got a massive deadzone issue that renders trail-braking(lightly pressing the brakes through a corner to unload the weight distribution from the rear of the car and improve turn-in) completely unviable, since the brakes in-game never do what your feet ask of them. The clutch... I don't even know. The clutch is so weird, and is so imprecise most of the time, that I can't even really explain it. What I can say is that it makes clutch kicking(hitting the clutch, then hitting the gas to build up RPMs, then immediately taking your foot off the clutch, which is something you see used all over motorsports(helps gets you out of sticky situations, for example)) so ineffective that it's not even worth trying, as getting it done properly will cost you more time than whatever your other options may be. The e-brake, or hand brake, has similar issues, where it behaves so strangely and unreliably that I just straight up don't use it 9/10 times.
Let me say that last part again: IN A RALLY-SIM, THE E-BRAKE IS SO BROKEN, THAT IT CAN'T BE USED 90% OF THE TIME.

There are so many problems right now that I have no idea if KT's gonna go back and fix them all. And if they don't the game's never gonna be worth your time and money.

If KT does go back and fix *all* of these issues, though, I'll absolutely change this review. But, until then, I'm not holding out hope.

The basic UI/Functionality and physics, control interface, are all messed up. Everything is harder to adjust than WRC10, and the game feels generally loose and sloppy, like they didn't really finish it.

I've given KT time to either address and/or fix and polish this game before giving it review. However, after posting a "fix" (not really) for the throttle bug, I think it's time I throw my hat in.

Being both a player of the last few WRC entries, and the Dirt Rally games, I've come to love both. WRC10, despite it's flaws, has been a fun game to play. So seeing all the promotional material and KT trying to make Generations a final "sendoff", I was pretty eager to see how this one panned out, especially with all the praise from reviewers (reviewers who I will no longer watch now).

Issues with Generations:
1) A persistent throttle bug (yes this is an *issue*, not a feature despite forum posters trying to defend it) where the car only starts to accelerate around 80% throttle on *all* gears, across all cars. This is both an issue on controller and wheel+pedals. This makes throttle control out of slow corners difficult, and just feels weird overall with a consistent "deadzone"
2) WRC (especially 10) used to have pretty lively asphalt rally, which I felt was a big step up from asphalt on DR2.0 and other games. It's been completely butchered here. The car feels floaty, and the steering dead, on aspalt. It's basically like gravel now with how much the cars rock back and forth with no real feeling of grip.
3) The default setups aren't great. And yes while setting up cars is part of the game, starting from something so *bad* just makes tweaking that much more painful.
4) The steering feels much less detailed this go around. In their pursuit for "realism", it feels like they've made the feedback feel "heavier", but that it's lost a good bit of detail, realistic or not. (On a CSL DD)
5) A bunch of other issues, but I'm just listing the ones personally effecting me and a lot of others. You can look through the community page + review + youtube if you want to see even more of them.

I get that this is unfortunately KT's last rally game, but there's so many *core* fundamentals broken this time around that it ruins the experience for past WRC fans. This isn't to rag on anyone enjoying it -- if you are, good! I just feel anyone coming from 8, 9, or 10 will be disappointed or frustrated. I hope they continue to work on this game, but I see no reason for them to not just wash their hands with it and leave (since they've lost the WRC license).

Verdict:
If you're looking to play a decent rally game besides DR2.0 that has the official cars and great asphalt (and decent gravel feedback), pick up 10 if its cheap. I'd love to see this game fixed, but there's not guarantee that they can and/or are willing to.

A bittersweet game. Bitter because this is the last game from KT; sweet - well, everything else. A heap of good cars and events make this a very enjoyable package. It works well with low-mid range FFB wheels; much better than the previous titles. Menu navigation could be a bit more consistent. 7.5/10

***Sorry, bit of a rant incoming***
I'm echoing a lot of other reviews here, but hopefully, the more negative reviews will at least give them some incentive to fix the problem?!?.
My Logitech G29 just won't be seen by the game at all! The only option I have in controls are keyboard, I really don't want to play on a keyboard, I want to play it on my wheel. I managed to get a controller working, so I played for about 30 mins on that, but again, I want to play it on my wheel please... I left my controller days behind me when I purchased my wheel.
I have 2.6 hours on record at the time of writing. Apart from that 30 mins or so playing on pad, it's been exiting, trying to change something, going back in, still no wheel etc etc.
There are a few links here and there with try this and try that, but to no avail. Yes, my wheels firmware was updated around 3 years ago and there hasn't been another since. My Windows and drivers are all up to date. My other games work fine, but okay, I'll try another USB port, still nothing. I don't want to change anything in the game or registry files, because I shouldn't have to.
It did see the wheel at one point when I switched from Logitech gaming software to g-hub, but it wouldn't see my paddle shifters and even after deleting 1st-6th gear in the control mappings, it would still only let me change gears with the shifter??. I really wanted to change gears with my paddles though, as that should be choice.
I've played WRC since 9 and 9 was fantastic for me out of the box, with a few small tweaks here and there. WRC 10 was unfortunately terrible as although it at least saw that I had a wheel connected, my 69 hours of the game on record was I'd say 90% trying to get the wheel to feel how I wanted it to feel... When I did get it to feel right enough, the settings decided to delete themselves and I thought okay, you really don't want me to play this game at all, I'll wait for generations.
The game looks promising, I'll happily delete/change the review if the issue is fixed. But my disappointment of opening/checking Steam 20 times a day to see if there's an update, is pushing my next level patience to the max😂
Cheers👍

I have played dirt games before and I bought a wrc game for the first time and its lovely. I once played wrc 10 and it was trash but this is a really good rally game with a lot of content and the physics are pretty good.

EDIT:
-Issues with input binding and inability to steer was fixed when I deleted all the profiles with * in front of it.
-Handling fixed when I used RESCALING for throttle and brakes
-Just discovered that they implemented telemetry. It's been a much requested feature over the years. I tried it yesterday with Sim Racing Studio software and my sfx100 rig and it works pretty well. Some issues but 85% there.
-I've changed my rating to Recommend.

Original Post:
Was good while it worked. They FINALLY fixed the stuttering issues that has plagued the series for the last 3-4 generations. Took them long enough...Graphics seem better; models are the same (relatively low poly count) probably but lighting improved. The sound still is terrible and destroys immersion in many cars. Some cars sound less distractingly bad than others.

Handling is iffy. Very loose and difficult. You slide everywhere unless you modulate throttle extremely carefully, like everything has an f1 engine. I've never ridden a real rally car but handling seems excessively tricky. Not a bad thing; makes things challenging and interesting but I honestly don't know how realistic it is.

The amount of content you get is great. Everything worked with my peripherals for a few days then suddenly i can't steer at all with my DD (simexperience) wheel (works with every other racing game I have still). And my shifter (aoilogs) doesn't register anything either. Heusinkveld pedals work still. This was the same random buggy bs that happened with their prior releases.

MXKJROCKET
MXKJROCKET

Wheel steering angle not properly adjustable (jumps right back to 360 after changing and saving)
Pedal input only starts at around 90%
Sound is terrible
FFB is incredibly awful

Graphics and new mechanics are good though. But I wouldn't recommend the game with those issues

Hmm, on the whole - No don't do it.. Biggest issue is my accelerator control, its all or nothing. I don't use a steering wheel, I use a standard hand controller with analogue buttons for accelerator and brake. This reminds me of the old rally games from nearly 30yrs ago... I have tried adjusting sensitivity settings, but to no avail - still all or nothing acceleration! Please fix, then I might give a better review. Until then I can not play it as its un-playable in my opinion.

pros:
Good overall quality with few bugs
User interface is intuitive and easy to use
Large selection of cars and tracks
Nice lighting
car handling is good
has an over all high fun factor

cons:
Car sounds are still unrealistic and sound stupid
Classic cars are low quality, they're low detail and all handle the same and sound like crap
The graphics look dated. Trees look stupid, and the distant scenery almost doesn't exist.

Conclusion:
Dirt Rally 2.0 has better graphics, better car sounds, way better classic cars. I would buy Dirt Rally 2.0 over this game, but if you already have Dirt Rally 2.0 and want more rally content, more tracks, more modern cars, then Generations is really your only choice. Just don't expect the same quality as Dirt Rally 2.0, because you will only be disappointed

I love the new Hybrid System and classic/legendary cars.
And the love and realism of track detail is unmatched to any other Rally game
Thank you KT Racing to keep on going with WRC you deserved to have the official license on this game.

This has replaced Richard Burns Rally as my go-to rally simulator. Physics seems greatly improved over WRC 10 and now feel as good as or better than DR 2.0. While WRC Generations' driving experience doesn't quite reach RBR's heights, it is darn close. And, of course, everything else about WRC Gen is better than RBR (better graphics, better sound, better UI, etc.).

Only quibble is that the cars feel too understeery with default setups. A bit of rearward brake bias seems to dial that out (h/t gamermuscle)

Just a note: I'm playing on a Fanatec CSL DD, WRC wheel, and v3 pedals.

I wholeheartedly recommend this game, whether you are a dedicated rally fan or not. Great fun!

Been playing rally games for a long time now as it is one of my favorite genres and this is without a doubt one of the best,if not the best, rally games I have ever played. I will try to keep the review short and share my thoughs in some bullet points. The great things about the game:

- Incredible stages (Probably the best I have ever seen, both visually and in terms of detail)
- Very content rich ( 21 locations and 165 which is an insane amount)
- Fantastic physics (I have only played with a controller, but RBR was my favorite rally game prior to this and the feeling is very close although different)
- Good UI design making it easy to navigate menus
- I get consistent 60 fps (medium to high settings) on my 1070ti with a weak CPU, my computer is close to 6 years old which is very good performance compared to other modern games.
- In the right setting the game looks gorgeous.

Some negatives
- Sounds in genral isn't bad, but far from the best in the business.
- Inconsistency in sounds (no gravel sounds outside heavy gravel, some cars have lower engine dounds than others etc).
- A few bugs
- Game runs best with 60fps Vsync on, meaning if you have a higher refreshrate monitor you can't really enjoy the benefits because stuttering will occur.
- As a fan of the older cars, there is no meaningful mode to enjoy them in outside online and single stages (Can't do career or season mode with them etc).
- Starting the career mode with the most boring cars in the game (WRC2/3 cars).
- No ability to create custom championships and race against AI (would love this feature really)

All in all though, this game is just fantastic and I highly recommend it if you want a sim/simcade rally experience with top notch physics and stage design, it is a joy to drive honestly.

Ok new update on my review. For the moment everything is good, for those whom also has problems sign in, creating a password because u were missing a "special key" and sync ur steam account with WRC Generations finally i figure it out how to register to Mynacon account (through the web browser) using that "special key" on my password that was "missing" at the end it result that was #, @, & and $ the "special key" that i needed to put on my password. Then once you register on Mynacon (web browser) go to "my details" to link from there with your steam account automatically and then u would no longer need to register in the game in order to access to the livery editor because it will register automatically.

Now, speaking of bugs maybe i just a little complain about the occasional lag and bugs on the main menu everytime i tried to select a new stages and cars. Feels like my keyboard is stuck to the left and up sometimes when i tried to pick a car or stage and is kinda anoying. But overall now i can enjoy the game, specially the livery editor after days trying to register to MyNacon.

After a few hours of playing, now at Rally Sweden, it's just so much fun and on a completely different level compared to WRC 9 or 10. The feel of the snow (also on Monte stages) and the snow patches are amazing. The revised Sweden stages are also much better. The graphics when driving are looking soo much better and still framerates are much better compared to WRC 10. Graphics concerning the car's behavior, movement, damage are also on a different level. Even the feeling of the crowd is a completely new experience. I don't know about career mode and such but the experience when driving exceeds all my expectations by a mile.

Great Rally Experience!
If you love Rally, this game is a beauty!

A very good send off for the crew who put this one together, while not perfect it's really really good.
A decent upgrade over WRC 10, much more polished, the handling feels Fantastic on Fanatec DD1 and WRCG has telemetry this year which works with Simhub!

A tiny bit finicky to get running smooth but once you do it's worth it.

Many things are weak for this game; graphics (at times) and car audio in particular. However, this is as comprehensive of a contemporary rally game that you'll find- at an affordable price nonetheless. Featuring 18 locales, and over 80 cars (from what I can recall), along with the novelty of those mega-powerful Rally1 hybrid cars, makes WRC Generations KT Racing's best WRC game to-date. I wish full cross-play would be compatible eventually. I can tolerate the graphics to an extent: Sweden in particular looks phenomenal. However, the sounds are so terrible for cars that sound so lovely in real life.

I highly recommend that all rally fans give this some consideration.

Have to say in the last 2 years of Rally Racing, this version has gotten the much needed improvements. They've improved the eBrake, the traction in the different surfaces you drive over. The ability to make cross running tires work for multiple track surfaces for grip level, much improved. Liveries now are cross platform shared with the online play. Finally cross platform leader board stats. Thank you KT Racing and NACCON, your community loves this. Graphics in game are much improved with the DLSS addition of driver support. Interface to the game is much improved, with the billboard for yourself to add things you like to do, so you don't have to go searching through the menus. Career Mode is improved with how it flows for the driver to help his team become the most dominate it can be to help the driver get on the podium.

It's a good middle between Dirt Rally 2's slightly hardcore realism and DiRT 5 being a rehash of DiRT Showdown. Sometimes you just want a rally game.

Major downside is it doesn't work on Steam Deck yet. Devs please stop relying on ridiculously niche Windows toolkits thankyou.

Delorenzo_27

Absolutely the funnest and most immersive rally game I have ever played. Works well with triple screens despite not full support for screen angles; FOV wont be perfect but its totally functional and the camera allows a lot more manipulation than in Dirt 2.0. FFB is a little tricky to sort out to get the best feel (using a DD1) but its quite nice on gravel, a little vague on tarmac. Some of the engine sounds are a bit below par, particularly with the classic cars; it's hit and miss but generally speaking you wont care because the stages are so immersive and fun. The stages really feel alive and natural; I've always felt like the DIRT series is taking the mickey a bit with some of the obstacle placement almost designed to over-punish the player. Using SIMHUB and the WRC10 files you can easily get buttkickers and basic dash screens working.

The game, especially the career mode was excellent. However, when I tried to go on with my Logitech G29 wheels, the car was just unwilling to shift gears, stuck at Gear 5 no matter how hard I hit the shift paddles, which is really annoying. (Luckily my Xbox controller works fine :D)
Also not native English speaker here so please don't mind about grammar issues in this comment.

The Good:
Best Core Driving physics. Best Stage design. Best overall Graphic. Variability and detail within stages. Amount and length of stages all beautiful and realistic looking in all the different locations and stages, single/multi player design. Car setup (I think! Need more playing time to get into it but so far I think it´s better than 10 or DR 2.0)

The Bad
Career mode (fundamentally same as in wrc10) like the killer clown from IT
A compressed collection of bad game design and incompetence. A tumor on an otherwise great game, build to deliver a maximum of agony and frustrations. Like the killer clown; It just want to harm you for no reason whatever and nothing make sense.

My verdict:
WRC Generations is by far THE Best rally sim/game – ever!

After Dirt Rally 1 & 2 being my go to rally fix and this my first WRC title, I am super happy to have bought this game. Outside of this game/that game is better or more realistic, this is just a good time. Location variety is awesome, I really enjoy the power stages that are 20km+ in length.

With a few tweaks the FFB is great using Moza R9 (search Brian Koponen and work off his in-game setting suggestions for thrustmaster wheels - was a big help)

Am looking forward to many hours with this game.

If you haven't played any of the KT Racing WRC games yet, this is the one to get. It does a couple more things right for me than WRC 10. Not much to really complain about other than some small nitpicks. This is a solid rally game.

I love DR2, but new WRC better for me now. Great sim game.
Great feedback to wheel, just need some custom adjustment. (the default is not good for direct drive). (simagic m10)
Good graphic, physics etc. Surfaces as gravel, snow excellent. A lot of maps.
I recommend game for 100%. Good immersive.

After playing close to 6 hours of the game I changed my mind on it after initially giving it a bad review. The game is actually pretty good when you play on the "realistic" setting.

Unfortunately I got an error halfway through my Croatia rally that my saved files are corrupt and I would have to uninstall the game and start over, but barring that bug the game is pretty good overall and I'm sure not everyone will experience that bug.

Generation is clearly the best of the WRC games to date. With the updates to the physics, and handling of the cars, WRC Generations has really closed the gap with the RBR, and the Dirt Rally games. The physics in this game have really matured, and have become more sophisticated, and refined, making it a peer with RBR, and Dirt Rally.

With the new Rally 1 cars, Rally 3 car, and historic cars, the new Sweden stages, physics, and handling updates, and a new League game mode, there is so much new content, and features added, especially for a game with an annual release.

There are so many rally locations, and cars in this game, at only $40 it's a great deal, I highly recommend this game.

Finnally a really great game from Kiloton´s WRC Series in the wake of WRC 10, much more sophisticated and easy to fall in love with...
Kiloton and Nacon did it this time: very good graphics (Ray Tracing/DLSS 2.0) it looks far out and it feels much better than the previous iterations of the series. I wonder what comes next from this studio with the know how but without the WRC license...we'll see! In any case 5 stars indeed...

Can't recommend right now.
It's been a week since release and there still no fix for having no FFB/vibrations/trueforce on logitech g923 on PC. It only works the recentering force; it's active all the time, and 360º locked wheel range that can't be changed. It's awful and unplayable.
Besides, the dashboard of old vehicles look way too blurry @4k. (with or without dlss enabled).

Despite of the above, everything else is nice. It has all of the improvements and Quality of Life tweaks I wished WRC 10 had.

BigCheese

Very fun, amazing stages (21 locations, 165 stages!), and plays really well with a controller when you want to.
Easy recommend if you like this kind of racing. Seriously, the stages are the best you can find. There's even crossplay with consoles.

Eagle
Eagle

Fun game play with nice looking courses.
Can't recommend due to:
1- Awful UI
2- Cars don't sound very intimidating
3- Cars feel slow with really long braking time and lack of tuning options
4- wheel settings keep getting set to default even though I 100% made sure to save them

Great improvement in Graphics and Sound design over WRC 10,
We can finally share and download liverys to use on whatever we want in the game. (for example in our private team in career mode.)
Lots of content from Single to Multiplayer.
Only have experiencing some minor bugs for now.
Best WRC game to date.

Deckard

The Good - Stages are nicely designed and varied. Tarmac driving actually feels driving on tarmac rather than high grip dirt like just about every other rally game. Objects while generally having low poly counts are very nicely textured. I had no issues with remapping my Fanatec Wheel and after a bit of tuning FFB was passable. Menus are clean, large and simple; very console orientated. Handling is simcade and mostly in a good way (see below). Plenty of content and more stages and conditions than you can poke at stick at. Tracks are narrow and demanding.

The Bad - Car setup is super dumbed down. Eg. Suspension=1 (one what?); brake bias=40 (front or rear?). Collisions are basically borked. In simcade titles it's usual small collisions give you a little bump back to track. Not particularly realistic I agree. Here if you clip a small object you will often get spun into the obstruction, frustratingly wedging you against it and ruining what would otherwise have been a good run on some very tight roads. This would be fine if the punishment for collisions was consistent. The trouble is you can equally barrel down a road, ignore braking and just use a wall as a brake, bounce off and keep going to gain time. This opens the door for exploiting terrain and punishing realistic driving. Off road detection could be way better. If you miss a turn and clip a corner but are back on track you most often will find your car being reset. Just to rub in salt your navigator will chastise you to ''get back on the road". I am back on the road you idiot. Game does not simulate ensuing argument.

The Ugly - I couldn't get it to run smoothly at anything other than 60Hz, with or without G-sync. Judder and micro-stutter were an eyesore so I've just settled on a fixed 60Hz. Disappointing. Water reflections are just plain bad. There was also a bright halo around objects especially when viewed against water. I fixed it but can't describe how as I was changing a lot settings and editing the cfg file and it was gone. Texture and LOD popping abound even at the maximum draw distance and maxed out settings and it tarnishes the otherwise nice graphics. It also tends to afflict specific places; like why does this rock or texture suddenly pop-up and that one further away is just fine? This maybe acceptable on console but not on a 24GB 3090. I'll sacrifice a few frames not to have graphics that behave like a bag of microwave popcorn.

Another example of why Steam needs a 'meh' rating. I don't hate it but there are far too many issues to ignore as well. Needs work.

Dr. Otter
Dr. Otter

For some reason it gives you random 10 second penalties out of the blue on the first section of a stage, thanks for ruining my runs. In leagues it's really a bummer to have it happen.

The game physics is a bit weird. I'm used to break into corners to shift the weight of the car to the front and then have an extra grip on the front wheels to facilitate car rotation (something I do in other rally games), that's something that I can hardly do in WRC. Overall, there's some level understeering everywhere.

I've seem many players saying that Dirt 2.0 feels too slippery compared to WRC, but I have to disagree. In Dirt 2.0 it may feel more floaty, but that is mostly to the many bumpy stages, where you spend a lot of time bouncing from bump to bump and not really touching the ground. When in flatter surfaces, Dirt 2.0 has more grip than WRC. Not to mention that you can use wight shifting to improve grip. Meanwhile, roads are much flatter in WRC, and still breaking distances are longer and corners have to be taken at slower speeds when compared to Dirt 2.0. I'm no rally driver, so I can't properly evaluate whether or not the amount of grip is realistic on gravel (tarmac seems to be very good, but still too much oversteering), but being unable to effectively use weight shifting feels very odd.

Despite the bad, the game is overall nice, large variety of stages is a big plus, but I would like to see more of the old rally cars, because all the current WRC ones drive all the same way, only changes from one category to another. Also, the game looks nice, but a bit too demanding on the PC given what it delivers. Maybe it is a bit too colorful for a proper realistic look.

I wish I could give this game a sideways thumb, nor good nor bad. Given I don't have the option, i'll give it a thumbs down.

UPDATE: There is an INVISIBLE OBSTACLE in the middle of the road on the Marmaris - Turkey stage!!!! Most definitely a thumbs down.

They've set the bar high for EA Codemasters. Best game in the series. The stages are fantastic. The physics are better and FFB is very good and much easier to set up over previous titles. Great fun and the high powered cars give that 'FearFactor' that was missing

There's split screen baby! Can play with my Lil brother. The rally and Cars are a lot to choose as well.

The quick play and split screen menu is straight to the point, can easily switch between car and track. This is a big deal for me as I don't find lot of time to play through other mode. Just want a quick way to play!

11 hours in and i can't get enough of it. Feels like the League Mode is the best addition to this game, especially with the crossplay feature. I'm playing on a controller and i often find myself in the 40-50% of the ranking.

I tried Dirt Rally before this and it didn't quite do it for me - the rally itself was too diluted with other racing stuff, which wasn't why I was there. This, on the other hand, is a straightforward rally game, exactly what the rally game is supposed to be. Really reminds me of the Colin McRae rally I played as a kid and it is truly a very good game. The selection of cars, rally locations, management depth - its all there.

Throttle in basically digital. You can't hit the rev limiter without giving 100% throttle.
You will decelerate to 30km/h at 50% throttle.

Want to have fun? go somewhere else.
Devs wanted to look into it 7 days ago. Nothing else happend and maybe never will.

Got the game this morning, i still haven't been able to play it because it won't detect inputs from my csl dd. Hopefully they find a fix in the next few days or i will unfortunately refund and wait for a sale

I sincerely wish I could recommend this game, but right now I cannot. I've only done 5 hours so far, and have been moderately entertained thus far, but the bugs, inconsistencies and little gremlins that plague the game right now make it hard to enjoy right now.

TL;DR: Wait for a few patches. Not incredibly enjoyable right now, but absolutely has the potential to be.

The good

- Better physics than the previous WRC titles. The cars feel quite bad IMO with their default setups, which initially soured my experience, but even small tweaks made them feel way different. Almost as if they had their physics changed for the better. I'm not a fan of how floaty and smooth the cars feel, even on rough roads, but the driving feel is generally okay. They're not 'hardcore sim' physics, but I do believe WRCG is made to suit a broader audience, and the current physics suit that goal quite well.
- Huge amount of content to choose from in the base game, and includes cars & rallies from previous games too. Even though lots of it is recycled, I think the price tag is justified
- Graphics are gorgeous, and some of the new content looks very very good
- AI is ok. Their performance is generally consistent, with only a single stage every now and then where I've noticed them being way faster or slower.
- Performance is very good. My system (Ryzen 5 3600, RX5700XT, 16GB RAM) runs it well at 60fps on high settings, and I haven't experienced a single frame drop or lag spike.

The bad

- The throttle bug - I absolutely despise this. Most of your throttle travel is borderline useless because of a weird throttle/autoclutch system. It's also very inconsistent, and will sometimes let off the clutch but other times not. Especially when using a wheel and pedals, this can occasionally make driving very hard. Probably my biggest gripe with the game as of right now just because of how much it affects the experience. Fix this, and I think I may just recommend the game. Further: I also am experiencing a bug where the throttle has a very small area (around 60%) where it completely cuts out, and in certain conditions even applies the brakes. I've checked through software and other games that this is indeed not an issue with my hardware (G29).
- Steering is not linear on linear settings: the center of your steering range doesn't feel like it does very much. I had to adjust some of my settings to make it feel better, but the settings that feel the 'best' are still not that great.
- The cars' bodies don't have proper collision, especially on the bottom of the cars. This causes clipping into the ground, which may have a follow-up effect of the car instantly popping up from the ground. Especially noticeable on sharp edges (Sardinia's road edges, for example), or when landing from a big jump. Best case scenario, nothing happens, worst case scenario, the car jumps out of control. I can't understand how and why this has gotten through to the main release.
- Pacenotes are very very inconsistent, even between stages of the same rally. DR2.0, which uses the same 1-6 number system, has way better pacenotes, which stay consistent between rallies. WRCG has you guessing throughout a single stage for a lot of it. Best way I can describe it is that some notes are seemingly made using the corner's speed for the note, while others describe the sharpness/profile of the corner. Both are valid systems, but don't mix them. Plus, they're often not delivered fast enough even on the 'very early' delivery.
- Durability of tires and parts is weird and inconsistent. How did a set of hard tires degrade 20% more in the same stage compared to a set of softs? Why does my left-front suspension consistently keep losing durability faster than others, in multiple rallies?
- Lots of stages have just lazy issues left into them that shouldn't have passed QA in the first place. One of the Swedish stages has an animated helicopter.. which does the animation backwards when you run the stage in reverse. Sweden (and maybe others) also has intersection markers (the red triangles) set in very odd and very wrong spots - like a marker indicating a right 90, followed by an intersection to the right.. which is actually blocked off, and the correct intersection is 100m down the road with another set of red markers. Huh?? Quite a few of them are also not flipped for reverse versions, but that's maybe a nitpick. Turkey's S.S.S. is downright HORRIBLE to drive, at least in a Rally1 car, because of the car crashing/plowing into ramps and hitting invisible barriers in the middle of the road. The list goes on.
- Don't know if this was the deal with previous WRC titles since I never tried it, but why am I forced to create a Nacon account so I can make a livery for my single player career?

In its current state, I cannot recommend WRC Generations, unless you're willing to play through lots of small issues. I can tell that with some more work and time, WRCG has potential to be a VERY good rally game. It won't ever be the hardcore sim that RBR is, but I do think that it does deserve a position in every rally sim fan's (heh) library. Even now, it does provide a good amount of entertainment, but I don't really know if I've truly enjoyed it. I'll play it though and I hope to see improvements in the future, and I may revisit this review later on.

Nice rally game. I was able to use all my high end peripherals; moza, heuskenvald, clubtech. I have also been able to get it to look fairly good on three screens. SRS just put out an update for it, i don't have motion but it looks like it is compatible. The graphics are good and the physics feel good.

This is so awful I'm not sure where to start..

Firstly the game forces you to make an account with the developer before you can even play it. The developer has made their account system as anti intuitive as possible. It took a good few minutes figuring out how to link my steam account and set a new password. This is all time I could have spent doing something more interesting, like playing the game.

Secondly, when you finally get the game loaded it immediately throws you on a rally stage to "test your skills" Doesn't even give you a chance to set up your fov camera and force feedback. Nope, just get in this car with the camera set all wrong with driving assists all turned on. I don't know about you but if you're going to "test my skill" in order to set up the game for me then atleast let me do that with the assists the way I like them (completely off) and the camera set up properly.

That leads to the next problem with this pathetic attempt at a rally game. It gives you no choice but to drive automatic transmission. There's a transmission option in the settings that makes you think you can change it to manual but you can't actually click and change this setting, it's permanently stuck in Automatic mode.

Lastly, your steering wheel will not work on this game. The game recognised all my button inputs and allowed me to map controls for my steering wheel but refused to let those controls be available during gameplay.

I don't think I've ever been so disappointed with a racing game. Especially because I know these developer can do better. It's like they wanted to ruin this game I have no idea what they were thinking.

It's a good thing they have lost the WRC licence because they don't deserve it.
I've asked steam for a refund on this game and shan't ever take a second look at it.

Nothing new - wait for sale.

Menus and navigation - AS BAD AS EVER (terrible mixture of keyboard and mouse selection across all menus).
Graphics - not better than WRC10, so ok i guess. Swedish stages look bleak.
Physics - same as previous series, cars feel a bit heavier.
Sound - TERRIBLE!!! I had to check that my sound settings on PC were ok - sound was (and still is) that bad.
Multiplayer - didn't test, cant bear another registration on some website, so skipped.
Performance - good on high settings (5900x + rtx3080)
Skill tree and everything else - same as previous series.
overall - 8/10 because im a series fan.
again - wait for sale.

Half finished game yet again!!!

Thrustmaster TX-PC steering... the high end one works only randomly. Sometimes I can shift.. sometimes I can't... Most times I can't use the pedals... like why?????

This is supposed to have Telemetry built in... it sort of does... It's pretty awful on a motion rig. Dirt Rally 2.0 just feels real with motion.. this one is missing the "pitch" for the telemetry making it very odd when using. It's more of an up down like you're on a pogo stick.

Sound is awful

It's pretty bad that in 2022, you get a rally game that's half as good a one that came out when... like 10 years back. haha

I could elaborate on my thoughts in regards to this game but in short allow me to say:

Kudos to Kylotonn for achieving this level of beauty and immersion for a rally title.

The tracks are an upgrade on the previous iteration of the game (WRC10) and so is the car handling and the feeling of the cars that now feel much more weighty, making the steering and car control much harder which does not directly equate to the game being (more) difficult for me it, the pleasure and the beauty of this game lies into that the cars feel authentic now, more authentic than before and thus I get a very hefty sim race vibe off of the game which in my eyes is always a win.

I was brought up with various simulation games and thus therefore can appreciate even the slightest hint of them.

The game with the upgraded tracks I would say upgraded but that's perhaps the wrong word to use here, make the cars much more controllable to handle and this is for me the most important aspect.

Next to a LOT of road to drive in and the multitude of cars to drive around with, various competition aspects versus the AI (PvE if you will) together with the multiplayer components (PvP if you will) make the game a rather complete package which is great because it's the last iteration Kylotonn will release, which I find a pity because judging by WRC Generations their next iterations might have continued to be the best in the industry I feel.

Did I say that the in game vista's look breathtaking, even on my 1080p monitor? Well. I have now. In short, to conclude:

Hope to see you again Kylotonn and thank you for this great experience. It tops all your previous efforts in my humble opinion.

The Best WRC title, yet it still feels unfinished like every single one from them, like the devs couldn't make everything right, level design is far better than any other Rally title but most of the content is reused with added more advanced shaders, physics feels good but it has serious problems when suspension is stressed too much, ffb is okay (default setup feels too heavy and disconnected) campaign is better than Dirt but nothing new, same as previous, I want to like it but it just (AGAIN) feels like a DLC or update to the previous game from the franchise, Sound is very basic no gravel sound weird problems with downshifting, too friendly missing a lot of loud sounds that would make it more connected. It's like they were worried we will be annoyed by gravel, suspension and engine noises pff anyway if you own WRC 10 I don't think it's worth it, if you played the previous games but refunded I think you could keep this one (I did that)

ALSO a lot of bugs, my Handbrake acts like ''camera look down'' and scroll down in UI so need to play in dash camera which is worse than driver camera on triples, still no update regarding the bugs wth, campaign skill tree is also bugged on triples the mouse position is wrongly detected

Wow.

This has to be the best rally game I've ever played... and that's saying something because I love RBR (Richard Burns) and Dirt Rally 1 and 2.0 among others. It's easily the best of the WRC games that Kylotonn has produced. So much content, tons of cars, tracks, locations, it pretty much has it all. Great graphics, runs well on my machine, love the inclusion of the historic cars, The handling model is solid, the immense amount of stages...

Oh the stages... that has to be the best part of this game, they are many, they are varied, and boy are they well designed. They feel real, they are tight, they are wide, they are fast, they are demanding. They cover everything under the sun. Really really hope that EA and Codies now having the license moving forward will continue on with the way these stages were designed. They are lovingly crafted. And as I've read before in a few other reviews, the Sweden stages are immense. So beautiful, and really fun to drive.

I could go on and on but there are very few gripes I have with this game. Dirt Rally still does the audio better than WRC Generations, and the backfires from the exhaust look cheap in this game, but other than that, its great, no complaints. A lovely final send off to WRC from Kylotonn.

I feel that this years, WRC Generations, is a step up from this last year's WRC 10. One thing that pointed out to me the most is the weight of the vehicles. I noticed a difference in cornering, that heavily depended on the weight shift of the vehicle. Last year's game seemed to have this slippery feel that does not feel realistic at all and had bad visuals to where it was too dark in certain spots that hindered your ability to see clearly. WRC Generations improves visibility and the physics of the vehicle. In terms of graphics, nothing compares to Dirt Rally 2.0, but they are a step up from past year's game.

not good enough i'm afraid.
for those of us with multiple fancy sim controllers ,i found the setup process far too difficult, and,i'm no mug with configuring my controllers in simulations.
too many basic requirements required by half serious sim racers, are not present.
no TIR no VR no multiscreen support to name a few.
Performance wasnt too flash on my 49" UW either, even tweaked its was rough going.

i spent most of my allowed time sitting on the track trying to get the controls sorted to even a basic level to thrash around the track.i got about 90 mins track time and decided i'd made a big mistake.

Sorry Lads i tried.

Absolute Bot
Absolute Bot

The new cars and the tracks a fantastic. Unfortunately, like every other WRC, the game lacks proper support for sim wheels. I use an accuforce v2 and the force feedback is off. I can not change my max rotation angle, as the game forgets the setting. Nothing happens when i press the throttle until I hit about 80% depression. I was really hoping this game would fix all the issues with wrc10, but still has a long way to go.

TeeJ
TeeJ

My reasons why this game was a huge disappointment....

-ADD A SINGLE RALLY MODE. The fact y'all don't have one is cheap and lazy. It would also take some light off of your garbage career mode. I would love to be able to take some of those Group B cars to a historic rally and face off against some AI legends. ALL THE PIECES ARE THERE SO JUST DO IT.

- The calendar system in career has been and still is a joke in these games. You need to perform maintenance on your vehicle but those events don't popup because staff needs to rest Instead you get forced to do try outs for teams you have no interest in joining which negatively effects your relationship with your own team.

-Every time you join a new team career your money resets.

-When I joined Toyota it took the current WRC world champion out of the game, making it feel like last years driver lineup.

-Season mode and Career mode are essentially the same thing minus the staff. Stop selling it as different modes when it could just be a setting in career mode.

The list goes on, but if you guys could clean up career mode which is just littered with flaws or even just fix the things that I mentioned a few more people would start recommending this game and that includes my self.
