Crash-landed on a surreal, low-poly world filled with freakish inhabitants, choose between permadeath and non-permadeath modes and embark on an epic (and ridiculous) survival adventure. Will you manage to stay alive as you unravel the mysteries of Wrongworld and search for a way home?

Show detailed description

Wrongworld system requirements

Minimum:

  • OS: Windows XP
  • Processor: Yes, a processor is required. My 2011 middle-of-the-road laptop can just about cope. But to err on the side of caution and also try to sound a little less clueless about hardware, I'll say an Intel i3 or better is probably wise.
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: You don't need a beast - as mentioned above, my ancient laptop (it's called Larry, by the way) has something known as a Radeon HD 6520G stuffed inside it, and it can just about deliver 30fps with all the settings on "Low". Definitely wouldn't want to go older/lamer than that, but the fact you're actually looking at 3-dimensional games on Steam makes me think you've probably already got that covered. But it is quite important that your graphics card supports DirectX 11. Things can get a little wonky on DX10.
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 500 MB available space
  • Sound Card: As far as I can tell, any on-board chip should work. At least, none of the test machines I have access to have had any problems with sound.

I really didn't expect anything from this game, but it's actually pretty interesting. There's a lot of little things to discover, and it's a solid survival game.

My WrongWorld Review.

Back in January of 2019, I saw, at the time, my favorite youtuber playing this game, Dlive22891, at the time, I thought this game looked pretty cool, so I decided to try it out, and I bought it on steam, and as soon as I started playing, I was hooked to this game. And over the years, I have started doing more things with the game. 10 months after I started playing this, I beat the whole game, 1 and a half years after starting, I beat it on hard mode, and 2 years after starting playing this game, I've even started speedrunning it, which I've first doing that in March. But there's 1 thing about this game that I've noticed, there's seemingly barely any people that seem to even know about this game existing at all, or in other words, it's very underrated. This game deserves to be much more popular than it really is. So that's why I'm making this review, it's unlikely that this one steam review will just make the whole game blow up in popularity or something, but I'm just making this review because I really like this game, and these super high quality reviews I very rarely ever do means the same, obviously I wouldn't like this game this much if the game itself wasn't "bad" though, so I'll get into why I think this is a really good game now.

The graphics:

Usually I would say something like "graphics in video games don't really matter unless they look like some kind of 7 year old persons' drawing" and while that's true, I feel like the graphics are still REALLY good, it has this really cartoonish art style, kind of similar to cuphead but in 3D. The graphics are really good, but also bad enough to not require some kind of super computer to run the game, which is a common problem with any game going for realistic graphics, sure it looks really good, but my computer is probably going to explode now, and while I HAVE gotten a much better computer as a christmas gift for 2021, the fact my previously 10 year old computer was able to run this is amazing, definitely the best looking game my computer was able to run at the time. The graphics gets a 9.4/10 from me.

The gameplay: The gameplay here is just incredible, the world you spawn in is randomly generated, with a bunch of structures put around the map, including portals, pirate ships, giant statues that look like the top of the statue of liberty, monolithic statues which can either give you stuff or attack you, wishing wells, and loads more I have yet to mention, including 2 others that can send you to, well, let's just say 2 rooms you need to do a very hard 'challenge" in to get items nessacary to beat the game with, I won't give out any more spoilers than that, go buy the game if you haven't already! So basically when you start the game, you have absolutely nothing, the story being that your ship crashed, and now your stuck on some strange planet, and need to make another rocket to get out of there. and your able to destroy trees and rocks with a very "goofy" animation, (which reminds me, some of these gameplay elements and animations are kinda funny) your able to craft a bunch of items, but you aren't able to make most of them until you make seperate objects (like workbenches and furnaces) There's also tons of enemies walking around the place, most of which are hostile, well, besides one enemy, which actually calls you a "monster" in the steam achievements page if/when you unlock it. there's also random events that can happen, including a slug earthquake that causes about 4-5 slugs to spawn around you at the same time, a "ritual" that any of the different enemies can do, if the "tree" monsters are doing a ritual, they shrink the tree's, providing a small inconvienience, but if your in the late game, some other enemy can do the same, and they will spawn an overpowered enemy that's nearly unkillable, it knows where you are anywhere on the map, and it's really powerful, they are possible to kill, but another solution is to just kill whoever is doing the ritual before they finish it, so you don't fight it at all. And many MANY more which i would list but that's spoilers. There's also kind of a "roguelike" element to this game as well, in the sense that if/when you die, you get XP, which can eventually make you "level up" and unlock the ability to craft custom items, including an infinite use bomb, shoes that make you walk faster, an option when you start a new save file called "quick start mode" which gives you extra items to start the game off with, and best of all, a "reality manipulator" which makes you able to control when any of the events can happen, though obviously this is a late game item, as it should be noted that all these (except for quick start mode) have to be crafted first, you don't get them for free, which balances it out. And of course there's still a few more I didn't notice, Overall, they are nice bonuses, but there's nothing you really NEED from this either. Just buy this game already instead of looking at this review. This category gets a 9.8/10

The replayability: ah yes, replayability, how long the game can be played for, I guess I'll see how good this does. technically there's infinite replayability if you just keep speedrunning it, doing challenges in it, keep messing around with sandbox settings, keep designing new houses. And all of that, but half of that can technically be done in any game, so it's kinda hard to even count it as a "benefit" compared to just normal gameplay. Apperently according 1 person on the internet, they say it took them 11 hours total to beat it, and 25 hours to 100% it. However, there is one thing that absolutely saves this entire category, and I nearly forgot about it the "custom mode." Essentially, there's lots of different customizable settings that can be changed to affect the overall difficulty, such as event frequency, (which is mostly bad events) whether there's permadeath or not, the amount of trees, rocks, flowers, and mushrooms, day length, hunger loss rate, heath regeneration rate, the gravity, enemy speed, enemy damage, and enemy heath. That's all the settings you can change. Which is absolutely tons of replayability options made from this mode alone. This category gets a 9.5/10, considering the fact that the game is pretty long to complete in general, the world is randomly generated, there's loads of random events that can happen, 3 base difficulties, for noobies, normies, and pros to all play. You can make custom houses, just mess around in creative mode, and the amazing "custom" difficulty with tons of customizable settings to affect overall difficulty, and variety.

The results are in! This game gets a 9.6/10, for just a $15 game, I would HIGHLY recommend buying this game, even at full price, end of review.

What are you still here for? Go buy this game!

Metzelmax

It's not bad, it's just boring.

I was expecting way more wacky stuff to happen but really the game is just a bare bones survival game where you run around banging your head against trees until one or the other breaks.

There are some small set pieces that randomly spawn like the Hollywood letters or an UFO flying by, but not enough weirdness to keep it from becoming monotone.

The 2 main issues are: your health regenerates way too slowly. You need to be at 90% hunger meter and even then in regens like 1% every 5 seconds or less. This means that unless you really need the resources of an enemy you should actually never engage in combat and only run away. Which ofc makes the entire thing even more boring.

The other problem is that you can only craft the advanced stuff at the crafting stations. Which means you need to build a bases basically. Which means you have to run back and forth through landscapes that due to their random generation look all identical. Like I build my work bench and campfire on a hill next to a desert and ice biom. Now I look back and there are at least 3 intersections between desert and ice that I can see. So where is my camp? A map would have been nice.

Furrfire

While Wrongworld is not a huge robust sandbox, nor does it have much replay value once you 100% the game, it's still a fairly enjoyable game your first time through it. It is definitely best to play this on hard only, like I did, as It was really fun struggling to not starve while trying to figure out what to do. Yep, I died a few times while trying to learn how to survive in this world, but because this isn't a huge game it's not like all that many hours of progress were lost.

While I did expect this to be a bigger game then it was, especially considering how long I've seen this floating around as and early access title, I still had a darn good time and heartily recommend this to survival fans.

Ysora
Ysora

Wrongworld is a fun survival game that typically starts with bashing your head against a tree to harvest wood, banging your head against a rock to harvest stone, and bumping your head into enemies to kill them. Collect resources, craft tools, collect more resources, craft stuff, rinse, repeat.

Your typical survival crafting game, but with a little bit of a weird twist. There are a variety of weird items spread out over world, that each has its own purpose.

I’ve naturally not played long enough to know what the higher tiers of crafting recipes are, but so far, the game seems interesting enough!

One bit of a downside is that the night sky feels very… pressing. Claustrophobic, even. People with trypophobia should probably look elsewhere.

A simple, yet incredibly fun game with new surprises for you all the time. One minute you will be cooking some food, but next thing you know, a giant pyramid thing has risen out of the ground and brings you towards it. The game isn't infuriating and is very enjoyable. Even dying doesn't really make you mad, as you have learned and discovered more than you did the last attempt, and also unlock rewards to use in your next journey. Overall, good game, fun, exciting. Get it if you like exploration and/or survival.

A bit pricey but fun as hell so you should grab it at least on sale. Very nice and silly take on the survival series. Get ready to learn some stuff the hard way unless you'll play on easy without permadeath.
Could use more content, tho. Community modding could be great with this game I think.

An open-world survival craft rogue-like? Seemed like my jam. It's painful to die when you've invested a bunch of time into a world but that's the nature of the game. Upon dying though, I discovered that you get XP for your run, which unlocks even more things. The game is very bright, as opposed to the dirt and gloom of something like 7 Days, but I enjoy the aesthetic. The combat is a bit meh, but the crafting is interesting. Will definitely continue investing time into this one.

Wrongworld is a fairly simple open world survival game at cheap price when on sale.
Pros
* Cheap for open world when on sale
* graphics. Pleasant, cute, and enjoyed by the family
* Music and sound effects add to the game.
* runs well

Con
* Depth/challenge: not a game to get if you want to get a challenging open world game.

Overall a good sale buy!! 78%

Take the developers of Don't Starve, give them 3d assets and have them drop acid. This is a good representation of what I feel this game is thematically. The time I have played of this game has given me a very charming experience which has made me smile and laugh plenty of times. I 100% recommend this game especially on sale for those who want a funny experience.

I have difficulty "recommending" this game... if you like random things happening that kill you or make the game harder to the point of being unfair then maybe you might like this. For the most part it's pretty frustrating in the early game and not very rewarding. The world is huge but mostly empty, combat is pretty stiff, food resources are scarce and hunting for them isn't fun.

At first I nearly stopped playing this game after about an hour, after finding my way to death multiple times and starting over. (important to note you can turn off PermaDeath but you lose out on the xp rewards for dieing) Once you get the hang of the crafting system and collecting food, it becomes significantly easier to survive, but that is just it, survive. Start trying to "finish the game (ie. leave the planet), by defeating mini boss's, solving puzzles, etc and you start to become paranoid, after all you spent a lot of time surviving and permadeath is a thing. You will find this game frustrating at times to say the least when you start stepping out of your comfort zone to finish tasks but its worth it. I enjoyed this game significantly, however, I recommend taking your time to build, train, craft, and survive before rushing to complete the game. Make sure you die a few times and earn some of that xp, the rewards for leveling up are worth the time. I would love to see new planets added in the future as a "new level" for completion.

the game itself isn't very big or complex, but I had a good time playing. its a perfect for a younger players. i say this cause I could imagine young me sending hours looking for everything. The only real problems with the game are that there's not really much too do, the combat wasn't very complex or challenging, and I had felt like I had already experienced the game after my short play through. But all in all I really liked it, seeing salad fingers was also a very pleasant thing, but i just wish it had more things like that or just had more in it.

Do you like survival crafting games? Heck yeah!

Are you tired of them being super serious! Of course!

Do you love the idea of a protagonist that looks like a combination of Chewbacca and Gumby? Damn right you do!

Then Wrongworld is for you. Goofy, amusing, yet surprisingly challenging and deep, it's a great indie game to give into on those nights you're looking for something in the survival crafting genre that's a little less stressful. 11/10 would smash face into trees to acquire wood again.

Ive had this game for a while now, and keep coming back to it - and it just seems to get worse. I would ask the dev; why not create a "newbie" zone you quest your way out of? Maybe with a tutorial?? As of this review this game is just one cute cluster-fuck.

I don't care much to review games - I'm only doing this because I enjoyed it so much!!!!

There is however one EXTREME FLAW - Its to small a game although DEFINITELY worth the money.
I would pay for some D.L.C ( maybe he can travel to the stunning moon i keep looking at or maybe the map could be bigger with a lot more objectives E.T.C). There is so much more potential for this game and after Binge playing and completing in two days (could be three). It just leaves you wanting more. There is some amazing stuff on here and the bosses are extremely imaginative (although a little easy). Its Extremely fun to play. I hope this project doesn't get abandoned.

The Developer is completely involved although i have had no contact with him/her myself. He also thanks you a lot for supporting the game (and i mean a lot), So i completely think he deserves all the money he earns from this game (Unlike some developers). I don't know who Becci Is but he loves her a lot :).

my rubbish ideas for D.L.C (off top of my head)

1) A Proper Pirate Ship. (Maybe some water skis and boat item)

2) Be Able to go to a totally different map on the moon with entirely different resources and items (I would pay big money although I'm only one person)

3) The inagination in the items really shows although there isn't a lot and once completing the game you are basically god (which is totally not a bad thing).

4) An endgame boss. maybe he stops you in space after the sling shot

Like i said the potential in this game is there!!!!!

CONCLUSION

BUY THE GAME ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT AND YOU WILL HAVE HOURS OF FUN. (BUT - only hours). Also Id rather support good people developing games with imagination rather than the hundreds of cash grabs that are so popular. This game is definatly different and reminds me of when games were good PS1/SEGA ERA.

I played this game a few years ago (for at least 20h that are not shown here on steam, for some reason) and it was pretty fun. I restarted the game a few days ago and i was shocked about the design decisions that were made in the meantime.
Normal difficulty includes permadeath and deletes your save. What?
You plant a garden and suddenly a cave pops up directly underneath it so you can't harves your crops. What??
One night suddenly a huge golem pops up out of nowhere and kills me. I couldn't run away, i couldn't kill it because i was 1h into the game.
What the freaking hell?

After 2 years in development where i did not play the game, the dev(s) couldn't even add a small tutorial.

Sorry but this i just the highest degree of garbage RDM-design i have ever seen in a survival game.
I play a lot of survival games, but this is just horribly paced, badly balanced and too random to get anywhere.
The lost savegame on normal was the last straw for me.
I propable won't touch this product again.

If you like random stuff happening without being able to handle it and lose all your progress on a whim, this is for you.
If not, stay away.

I love goofy oddball things like this strange-world survival game. If you're familiar with the survival and crafting mechanics of Minecraft, this will seem like its baby brother (no mining and no real world-altering, but lots of survival, crafting, and alchemy). Runs handily on a modern laptop and offers a bit of quick challenge and fun for a break during the workday or a longer slog to reach a goal, say if you want to build a great big mansion instead of a small cabin as your shelter against the dangerous wildlife.

I didn't even get past the main menu with this piece of crap. The dev is obviously an elitist puke who thinks that anyone who wants to play a game casually is a weakling newb simp. In selecting difficulty, it becomes clear that either you play in hardcore permadeath mode like a real man who obviously has a large penis, or you get hamstrung and don't get to experience all of the features of the game YOU PAID FOR. Well, screw you. You elitist bastards are holding back gaming by making casual players - who also have MONEY you moron - not want to play games at all. You think you know what gaming should be better that the people who play them, despite the fact that their money is the reason you have a job. You need to get it through your thick skulls that there are gamers out here who want to play games without it being the trials of Hercules or the curse of frickin' Sysiphus. I am so sick of you elitists, I can't keep it in anymore. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. If I could get a refund for this worthless brick, I would, but instead all I can do is say F you.

It is probably worth the price just to look at the artistic night sky. This is a truly impressive feat for a one person team. For one person to be so creative, artistic, humorous, complex and then be able to program it all blows me away. Is it the best game ever... no. Is it a really fun original and rewarding experience in the overpopulated survival craft world? Absolutely! Very glad I gave this a go.

Suggestions...
- Stay on permadeath. At first it may seem tough, but you will get the hang of it
- It is simple combat... but be careful, Getting your health bar up isn't easy. Best strategy is to not let it get down.
- This guys eats a lot. Hunger management will be the thing to thwart. When you get that handled - it becomes a game of exploration and advancement
- Dig and plant stuff. You will be surprised what can grow in the soil.
- If you think it doesn't have much going on... keep playing. There are a lot of surprises, events and locations to enjoy.
- Have fun.

A simple and original take on the hardcore survival genre, Wrongworld takes itself seriously despite goofy undertones. Expecting a glitchy quagmire of a game, I was VERY pleasantly surprised to experience a full fledged title, a hidden gem amongst the countless copies of survival games. Set in a low poly environment that even your grandmothers computer can handle, Wrongworld takes you on an adventure that’s sure to open your eyes to curiosity and exploration. With lots of hidden secrets and things to do, as far as an open world survival game goes, Sludj Games KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK on this. Truly satisfied with this purchase and I can’t wait to give back in and play more!

This is my kind of weird in so many ways. I'm not even getting frustrated at all of the permadeath or going down to easy mode for resurrection. My heart feels good knowing the effort and tlc that went into this game by the developer. It was a very solid survival game. There were kind of two parts to it for me. The first was barely surviving and finding enough food to be alive (I played on hard mode), and then the part where my food situation is sorted and I'm just looking at what all the cool things I can do are. I think the style of the world and odd things you find were my favourite parts of the game. The sun was great. Overall felt like quite an adventure.

A lovely and fun survival game, that immediately managed to captivate me so much, that I had to play through it fully in basically one go.
Being thrown into a world with just little guidance (a few helpful hints that pop up occasionally) and discovering all kinds of oddities and, sometimes unexpected, events in this world is part of the charm for me and captures the experience of crashing into unknown territories - best to blindly jump into it.

It's not a particularly complex game, combat is simple and just involves clicking the mouse button, there isn't really a story to follow apart from the notion mentioned in the game's description, most of the tasks are straightforward and the crafting tree isn't complicated, but everything just feels so rewarding and engaging that you stick around.
It's easy to learn the gist of the mechanics and doesn't require a lot of playthroughs to tackle hard mode once you understand how to maneuver the world. The worlds itself are randomly generated and are not particularly big, so they aren't too difficult to navigate.

The only thing that might be lacking is, I wish there were more crafting options and varieties in the world and its events and enemies. But that's also to account for that it really had me craving for more.
Apart from that it is pretty obvious that this was a passionate project and it shows in how polished the whole experience is.
Looking forward to the next possible creations of this developer. :)

Eh. This is one of those games where it feels like the controls and camera are constantly fighting you and never doing what you want. I like survival/crafting so I kept going but after 4 hours just realized it's not that fun.
