YIIK is a game of all time. I truly cannot describe my whole experience in a single review, but I will explain the first 5 minutes (maybe less) to potential buyers so that they may feel inspired to purchase the game by the invigorating 5 minutes in the Amazing World of YIIK. Here was my experience:

Upon opening the game on steam I realise there is a distinct selection of personalization for the player with a window for controls, resolution, monitor choice and graphics quality (with quality "postmodern being the only one of avail might I add.) There is also a gleeful "play!" button indicating that it is indeed to begin the experience. A loading screen only consisting of grey representing Alex Yiik's (the MC) outlook on life throughout the whole thing. A single note of combined black and white, dull. Nothing indifferent to him. Truly an astonishing imagery for the players to figure out as they replay over and over. As I load upon the title card I am introduced to The Amazing World of YIIK. It shows us Alex by himself (Sammie was never real to begin with (in my opinion)) shrouded by his regrets (nothing, he is a man child who copes by saying nothing is his fault (which leaves a rather great imagery for his emotional attachments towards the people in his life)) over a static filter showing that there is a distinct line that is being melded between the Amazing World of YIIK (imaginary) and the real world (Frankton (Frankton isn't real in my opinion.(We never truly see Frankton as Dali gave us rabies and the rest of the game is just a fever dream Alex is having of what could have been. (You want proof? What town doesn't have a Post Office!? Or a bank? Or even a school??? So yeah, I personally don't believe Frankton is real and that the game is all a fever dream.))). The game offers a reference sheet of it's inspirations and references for newcomers and oldcomers alike to, if they are interested that is, check out the media that brought this game to life to better understand their own tastes, the game itself, the messages and most importantly themselves. Clicking on "play" I am presented with the options of either controller or keyboard. Truly a great feature allowing anyone access to the Amazing World of YIIK. The game offers a "Content Warning" for the harsh reality it will set upon the players who will play it, incase they choose to not due to being "triggered" by the "dark" imagery. The game immediately after this offers a gameplay choice of reduced story, allowing re-players and speedrunners alike to replay the Amazing World of YIIK again in a shorter spam then before (Though realistically, who would want a shorter experience? The game can only be enjoyed in it's fullest by playing it with the full content). The game has 2 difficulties, Normal and Story (Before NG+). Those who wish to simply enjoy it for its content will choose Story. The bleak colours of the previous selections are then BLINDED by the joyful lights of Marlene the Krow and his 90s aesthetic background, showing the contrast of themes within the game aswell as the suddenness of just how quick this game can turn from 1 to 100. More support for the player is shown by allowing them the choice of colour of the HUD (I chose blue, though you can change it later). The game, suddenly. Asked for my name. Me. The Player. It made me feel like the Amazing World of YIIK has dragged me down to it's reality from mine. But why must I ask? Why ask me the player? YIIK as a game is truly progressive. Instead of asking for a BARBERIC term like a pronoun, it asks for your body type. The game then asks for more information on my true self, the people in my life. I wouldn't have expected a game to care of such trivial matters. But alas, it asked me and I felt gratitude to all my achievements in life finally getting recognised the friends I have made are finally giving me something I can brag about to a 16-bit crow. Hallelujah. It then curiously also asked me for favourite piece of technology, I wrote down The Large Had (Large Hadron Collider) due to the text limit giving a nostalgic feeling of old style games and their text limits. Marlene then told me to enjoy my experience in the Amazing World of YIIK and off I went. A title page displaying the date April 4th 1999 arrived before me in a bold yellow. And then the chapter name, "Chapter 1: A Wild Cat Chase" Foretelling us of the events to come (perhaps through the whole game?). A brief pan of the town Frankton appears showing us it's zany residents and facilities it has to offer before zooming into a bus leaving a bus stop. At that bus stop is where Alex Yiik says his first lines, "On April 4th, 1999 I just home from school. I had just graduated." and off the journey began.

Did this catch my attention? Yes!
Did I play the whole game? Yes!
Did I enjoy it? Yes yes yes!
Should you play right now? Yes!

This game is not fun, even for a hilarious bit you have with your friends. The gameplay sucks, the dialogue is whiny, and it sucks.

I know this game is often memed on, but I love it unironically. Alex is a super complex character, who is terrible in a more subtle way that most bad characters in media. He's oddly relatable, and never has a moment that makes him irredeemable (well, putting aside that one scene you're probably thinking of). Because of this, you start to examine the ways that you're like Alex. At the end, it leaves you with a sense of understanding of your own flaws, and tries to push you to improve so you don't go down the same path Alex does. He's a man who fails to change, but that doesn't mean you can't change in the real world. The story also contains a complex narrative filled with likeable characters, quirky humour, fantastic music, and some really great art direction. Trying to figure out what's real and what Alex is making up in his ego-fueled retelling of the story is really interesting, and a creative use of the unreliable narrator trope.

That said, the game is mocked for a reason. While a lot of the monologues are cut down in the rewrite, the game still has clunky writing in many areas. But more importantly, there is one major trigger warning I must give. The game poorly handles the subject of suicide. The character Rory will commit suicide if you don't make Alex apologize for one of his worst actions. While I feel like very few people would choose to not apologize during that scene, it is an unexpected and poorly handled theme, in my opinion. (There is also a scene in a secret ending where it seems like Rory forgives Alex for driving him to suicide, but this is implied to be something Alex made up to make himself feel better). This subject matter only gets worse with the character of Sammy, who is intended to represent murder cases that true crime fans often get obsessed with in a tasteless way. However, they based her character off of a real life murder victim, which is WAY more tasteless in my opinion. I think what they were doing with her character was clever and important for the story, but they should not have based her off of a real dead person. It's almost doing the very thing YIIK is trying to condemn. The final flaw of the game is the poor gameplay. If you're reading this after the I.V patch, it is likely this is fixed, but until that is released the gameplay will be a bit on the boring side.

While those flaws seem quite damning, and understandable reasons to dislike the game, I do believe the main story it is trying to tell is not just good, but important. Alex's character growth, or lack thereof, is the main point of the game. His story helped me. While I doubt you or I are as bad a person as Alex, we still may have things to learn from his journey. It's uncomfortable seeing a man who seems to embody so much of your worst aspects to an extreme degree, bringing the parts of your personality you like the least to the forefront But YIIK shows us that we need to see those flaws, because if we try to ignore them we can never learn to grow past them. I love YIIK. This game is the bomb.

The lethal dose of nicotine that is still often cited (about 50 mg for an adult) is an ancient myth, as an Austrian toxicologist has recently sleuthed: How much nicotine kills a human? Tracing back the generally accepted lethal dose to dubious self-experiments in the nineteenth century
The actual value would be more in the order of 1000 mg.

The unburned tobacco of a single cigarette contains up to 20 mg of nicotine. So, to reach dangerous levels of nicotine you would need to eat about 50 cigarettes.

Long before you reach a level like this, your body will react with nausea and other alarming symtoms. Including vomiting. Which will eliminate a lot of the tobacco you have eaten before it is digested.

Yes, it is possible to die from eating cigarettes. But it would take a lot of determination and maybe some medication to overcome your body's reaction. Playing this game gave me this determination to do this.
There is no other YIIK-like experience.[//h1]

YIIK has so many things that I love about it, but it feels like it's really trying to make me hate it.

I love the visuals and overall aesthetics. Some shots in this game jjjst hit in an indescribable way. It's like Hideaki Anno dropped a tab and decided to direct a video game. I know Im not being direct but I just like em.

The music is such a mixed bag, but even the songs I dont like have a little charm to them. The recurring motifs throughout the ost are a nice touch too. They should've kept the Alplha version of Years to come though.

The combat is where I start to get a little iffy. I actually don't mind the mini games=, but I think the new basic attacks require too much precision in normal mode. I think the overall balancing is kind of shite. Story mode is too easy while the normal mode is way too tedious due to enemies having too much health and not taking enough damage.

The writing is hit or miss, but when it misses, it misses hard. Alex's monologues are memed on incessantly, and they should be. Some monologues and info dumps really drag on, and explain things that don't need to be explained again. Every line about race makes me cringe, just because it always comes out of nowhere and feels like a first draft. A lot of lines feel like first drafts and the dialogue doesn't feel real. The lore is neat tho.

I like this game, despite its faults, and I hope I.V can elevate YIIK to its full potential. I just hope they don't get too meta

I finished the game a couple of days ago and I can say I have yiiked out completely.

Took me a while to get used to the artstyle but afterwards I loved the visual design of the game. Combat is still very slow in the beginning but it gets better as the game goes on. I played the game semi-ironically for the first chapter and a half so I guess that's where I got most of my enjoyment from.

If you have the patience to stick with it, Yiik is a fun time. I recommend.

Also someone please upload the full ost somewhere

Unironically one of the best modern RPG's made, The interwoven characters along with the music and world bring this game to a whole new level. This is a unique one of a kind experince. People meme the game but you will never find a game as mind consuming as YIIK, Even if you hate it you will be sucked back into the game and Alex. A huge focal point for alot of reviews is the most unique person I have ever seen in a game. I honestly believe people hate him because he reminds people of their friends, family or other. But that is why he is unique because people can actually relate him to real people, people who refuse to change, people stuck in there own mind dungeon. Amazing story, cannot wait for YIIK 1.5

YIIK is a bad game. YIIK is a really bad game. It's a game that nobody should have to subject themselves to - almost every aspect of it is subpar in some way. Do not buy this game expecting something enjoyable, because you won't find it.

However, I do believe YIIK is a game that everyone should try, regardless of its quality. It's a game of missed opportunity, horrible direction, and lackluster design choices that make the overall package into something so unique on its own that I can't seem to stop thinking about it. The game is somehow able to misstep at every possible turn, yet still present itself with such gusto that you can tell the developers really, truly believed that YIIK was going to be big thing in games - and this fact alone makes the experience feel unlike anything else.

I could go on for hours about the horrible writing, the Alex monologues, the patched-together final act, the questionable art direction, or even the inconsistent voice acting, but none of it captures the bigger picture of the project as a whole. When you realize the sheer amount of work that went into this passion project, you start to see how special it really is. By the end of the game, you'll be so ready to accept whatever the game throws at you that your first question isn't "What went wrong with YIIK?", but rather "What went right?"

YIIK is a bad game, and you should absolutely experience it. I'm not condoning that you buy this game, but, check it out if you ever get the chance.

Be sure to play with the original monologues option.

vomitwater

Unironically the most overhated game of either the last 10 years, or of all time.

YIIK is misrepresented by almost every negative review/video essay I've seen and it goes to show how spiteful and even mindlessly hateful people can be. I find it very interesting when people try to give an "honest" review about YIIK, the criticisms tend to be surface level and even paint the developers in a way that makes them look like they thought they were trying to make the next BIG THING, when they know absolutely nothing about the developers.

Oh, sorry. Everyone knows about the infamous "My mistake was thinking video games art art" rant. What they don't know is the context to that rant was that it was from a hyperbolic comedy podcast, prefaced with that it was a bit, and the purpose of the rant was to show that video games ARE art. Literally right afterwards the developer even says the game isn't perfect, so if you're one of the people who claims the developers think YIIK is a masterpiece then you're just wrong. People also love to make up false claims about the game for some reason, as if there aren't legitimate problems you could talk about instead.

Good game with some tedious gameplay at points, doesn't deserve all the hate it gets. You don't have to like the game, but be fair in your criticism without making it sound like this is some mind boggling flop.

I bought this game right as every source started to bash it. It dropped off my radar for months because of that. I went back and wanted to give it a try, and got a huge surprise. This game had places where polishing might've done some good, but the overall experience was quite fun. I played the version with the updated combat, which made it much easier and less repetitive to progress, and beat it within a few days. The soundtrack, visuals, and story have a lot of charm to me. I'm glad I gave this game a chance, and if you just brushed it off, I recommend either playing it yourself or watching it. Looking forward to seeing what this game does in the future!

I'm really very torn on this game. I originally was going to not recommend it, but the pros ended up BARELY outweighing the cons.
I really do see a lot of potential with this game. There were parts that i really liked and appreciated like the combat (AFTER the update), the character design, the soundtrack, etc. but there were also parts that were just bullshit filler like the guy on the mountain, Michael's "enlightenment", and the 30 days you had to level up your characters and do side quests before the end game (which i was able to complete in about 5 days and then had to spend the rest of the day just clicking into the Mind Dungeon and then clicking out of for the rest of the time). I think the dev just got too much free reign to do what he wanted, and no one there to tell him to "cool it", so the game could be a fully realized story.
Speaking on the story.. It was kind of confusing at first but I understood what it was they were going for. Also, there was still too much inner monologue from Alex, despite me playing the game with the "limited dialogue" version.
I know that I sound so back and forth on this game but for now, I would give it a solid 5/10. It's worth it to play through at least once. It's definitely not the worst game i've ever played and like i said, it really does have the potential to be something great, but it's just not quite there yet!

I watched about three separate video essays about how this was the worst game ever, but every one I watched just made me more curious about the game. I finally broke down and bought it today and I have to say, this game is far from perfect but at this point it seems like the hatred for this game is more of a meme than anything else.

The combat is rough, and the writing can be grating at times, but the visuals and music are stellar. If you're curious about this game I can't promise you'll like it, but at the very least you'll get a unique experience.

For all its faults, this game is sincere, and to me that counts for a lot.

This game is genuinely so much better than the public reception has given it, yes it has flaws. Those mostly being the combat and the the overly wordy dialouge, which does have an option to turn off. But honestly as it stands those are the two main issues, which both do have some better resolutions later in game.

If anybody is looking into this game, i would recommend going in blind. At its core this game is a story about a flawed man trying to get better. It is worth the play through. The story is honestly way better than it gets credit for, the music is good, and all the characters are intentionally written to be the way they are criticized for, it all serves a purpose in its story and in order to learn why you have to play the game. This game is legit pretty good, with a lot of heart and soul you wont find anywhere else.

I'm halfway through the game, and I'm honestly gonna say this. This game has a horrible story. They think they can talk about these topics, but it ends up being extremely pretentious. There are segments that go on for way too long, and they can get grating.

BUT. I honest to god recommend playing this, only if you have a group of friends to shit on it with.

I've been playing it with my friends, and I've gotten the most out of the game I really can, and when Alex screams, we scream and YIIK out. Also, I love its RPG mechanics. Fighting is enjoyable, but, again, battle segments can go on for too long. I've played a total of 11 hours of it (i forgot to close it once for 8 hours) and honestly, it's just SO FUCKING FUN to shit on.

So please, by all means, get it when it's on sale. 20+ hours worth of enjoyment if you have the right people to shit on it with.

Oh, my fucking god.

I do not think this game is very good. I don't think the writing is good, every character manages to fill up their textboxes with so many words without ever saying anything important. The battle system is super tedious, every encounter feels like a boss fight with how long they go on for. The first half of the game is a slog because of how long the battles go on for and then the second half is a snooze because of how overpowered you get. It's poorly paced. Some of the dungeons have puzzles that are incredibly frustrating and headache-inducing, and a lot of the soundtrack is actually really rough on the ears. A lot of these songs are fine, for the most part, but then they introduce an element into the mix that absolutely baffles me and kind of ruins any enjoyment I was having with the ambiance of these tunes. There are just... way too many things that keep this game from being good in my eyes.

Despite all this, I think I actually kind of like YIIK a lot. The cast of characters are all poorly developed and objectively uninteresting and bland, but I strangely really enjoy their presence. I found them to be comforting, weirdly enough, as I forced myself through this wack ass game that is super pretentious and overly convoluted for no reason. I wanted to see what happened next with these weirdos. I wanted to see how they'd handle where the story went. There's tiny (and I mean TINY) glimmers of something good here, in between the lines. If my interpretation of the events of the game and its main character, Alex, is correct, then I sincerely appreciate what this game is trying to do, but I'm probably giving it too much credit. If Alex is supposed to be a character that is so self absorbed that he perceives the world around him the way the game presents itself to you, if all the characters act incredibly one dimensional and always forgive him for his crappy actions because he lives in a fucking fantasy world and none of what we're actually seeing in-game is based in reality, then kudos, you actually had a very interesting idea. The execution is not perfect but I sincerely commend the developers for their effort here. I'm probably reading too hard into it though.

SOME of the dungeon puzzles are well designed and fun. SOME of the battles aren't horrible. SOME of the songs are really cool and SOME moments here are enjoyable and interesting. But this isn't really a game worth your time at full price. I'd recommend trying it out if it goes on sale, just if you're REALLY curious and you understand that this is far from a masterpiece. I think anyone that is interested in creating videogames should try this game out, just to help understand what makes a game enjoyable rather than frustrating and painful to play.

Anyway, I sincerely and eagerly await the IV update, for real. I hope the creators lean more into the weird and surreal stuff and just go absolutely crazy with it. Throw caution to the wind, fuck it. You have my attention, Andrew Allanson. Let loose. I wanna see what else you've got in the tank.

All Yiikposting and Jokes Aside this game tries so hard to have dialogue and speeches that sound like Zero Escape. The difference? Zero Escape's dialogue WORKS because it actually is a game where you have to think about the situation as a whole and use those as clues that reveal themselves as you go through. Yiik however instead just uses it to make itself poetic or (especially in Alex's case) sound more intelligent. However all the weird concepts or speeches brought up are either casually mentioned once or just never come back, making this game sound more pretentious and snobby than thoughtful, what it should've been. Yiik could've focused less on introducing (or plagiarizing) weird and/or abstract essays in dialogue and more on battle pacing and character development.

At least the music and the character designs are good.

Do not waste your money on this game. If you're here because of the OneyPlays playthrough of the game, go back, it's absolutely not the same as how it's portrayed. The combat system is terribly well made, the writing sounds like a 13 year old on r/philosophy, and half of the puzzles are unplayable without a walkthrough. The protagonist of this game is a failed attempt at a "flawed" protagonist, because he's just straight up unlikable, as well as most of the other characters. To be honest a lot of the game feels like a cheap Homestuck/Undertale ripoff, except its not cheap its 20 fucking dollars

[SPOILERS PAST THIS POINT]

If the creator sees this, here's my advice to you:
1. HIRE A RESPECTABLE GHOST WRITER. please.
2. Take out every instance of narration by Alex in between dialog, because a lot of the time its completely unnecessary and annoying.
3. CHANGE THE CHARACTER DESIGNS. HOLY SHIT. DIVERSIFY. NOT EVERY CHARACTER NEEDS TO BE WEARING A RED TOP WITH STRIPES. OR JUST HAVE STRIPES ON THEIR BODIES. IT HURTS TO LOOK AT AND MAKES THEM LOOK THE SAME.
4. I like your ideas, i do, but the way you execute them does not work well. the biggest example of this is Alex, the "flawed protagonist." Why doesn't he work as such? Here's why: You suck at writing. You suck at giving him any depth. You suck at giving any of the characters any depth at all, actually, so of course it won't work. Sorry if that's harsh, but you can't deny it's true. You are very creative and thoughtful, clearly, but you lack the skills to execute your grand ideas.
When Alex tells Rory the famous dead sister line, I feel there is a lot you could've done that you didn't do. What happens after such a hurtful thing is said makes sense: Everyone thinks Alex sucks. But this is *brief*. Also, showing Alex's inner thoughts so clearly is SO incredibly fucking unnecessary. You are solving the Alex puzzle for the player. Skim it down a little. You could go a long way with just making Alex talk and think LESS jesus.
When Alex's mom tells him to get a job after paying for his entire college tuition and then getting laid off, I don't see how ANYONE, no matter how flawed, could EVER have a thought process as fucking stupid as Alex did in that moment. You make him sound like a manchild when he hasn't been portrayed as such up to this point.

5. The race comments. Why you decided to make any of the race comments in this game is beyond me. Some make sense, like Chondra's monologue about her missing brother not mattering to people because of racism in America. But the rest come across as exactly how they are: a white guy trying too hard. Also, the fact that Chondra is voiced by a non-black actress is extremely bad. Please change this.

6. THE INTERFACE. Why would you make it disappear with the tab button, why would you make it non accessible during fights, why wouldn't you make any of the options explained, why aren't the items fucking sorted, why can't you change the fucking controls?? please.

7. THE COMBAT MINIGAMES. Just...honestly, just rework all of them. Especially Vellas. And before people wast PP on using them, maybe add some explanations or a brief guide. The first time you use an ability like, let's say, Bass Drop, there should be a picture guide to help the player, instead of having to wast precious time reading the guide at the bottom.

8. BASS DROP. not even gonna tell you how mad this made me. This is the worst goddamn skill in the game. It's fucking infuriating to try and master. I'm pissed.

That's about it for now. Obviously, I'm only 13 hours into your game (I played 4 hours on a..."separate" version, if you know what i mean, so it doesn't show up on steam) and trust me, i do intend to finish it. for the goofs. to say i gave it a try. but trust me, only a couple minutes into this game already makes clear its borderline unplayable. Please fix your game.

Yiik is not a bad game let me explain why.

The writing: The writing in yiik isn't perfect but overall it matches the game and the characters. If you read into the characters and know how they think you understand why alex talks so much he does it because he went to college for english and sees himself being different. This doesn't excuse some of the stuff that's written but overall if you think about why the characters act like they do I can 100% see what the writer was trying to go for. In the new update they are going to stream line this and add visuals so it's more obvious that his monologues aren't just monologues. They show more insight of his character

Alex as a character: Alex is a extreme worry wart struggles with anxiety has ptsd extreme panic attacks and even more. He is written like a Shiniji character if Shiniji was a lot less lovable. By the end of the game you will understand why alex acts the way he does and forgive him on the way he was acting toward other people and he is trying to get better.

Also the devs genuinely care about their game. They keep making new and new updates trying to rework and improve the game along with adding content for fans. even when this game was regarded as bad they still are going out of their way to try to fix it because they care about the project.

Also spoiler warning about the "Scene" of him saying I don't care about your sister. I wanna explain how this is miss understood.
Alex says this right after a boss fight with the first "outter world" creature after being panicked the entire time. His reality is shattering to him and due to him already being a worry wart and has panic attacks. He says no one cares about your dead sister to a person who's sister committed suicide. He says this and almost INSTANTLY regrets it. For the entire game he apologizes for saying that never forgiving himself.
Mr Epic Game (ceo of Epic games)
Mr Epic Game (…

This is probably the worst game i've played
the music is good and the art style is very charming
the combat is sluggish and boring
the story is stupid
the characters (EXCEPT CLAUDIO) are unlikable
and the story doesn't go anywhere by the end
yet im so intrigued by this game, and the poorly written dialogue is so entertaining that ill watch this game and play yiik.5 when it releases, i doubt you will but if your reading this please keep improving yiik, even if 1.5 doesnt fix it please keep going, there are so many good ideas that where just not executed well, i
genuine believe that if you rewrite the game and tweak the combat that you could make this game great
And for the love of god please fix the ending.

This game made me lose my grip on reality.

After playing YIIK to its completion with a playtime of around 18 hours, I can safely say that this was YIIK. This game was a test of my sanity and my ability to endure a seemingly endless wave of pointless and boring puzzles, combat and story.

+I will give it that the combat did seem fun and interesting at the beginning.
-...before it was overused into the ground and then some. Like literally all the enemies share the same 3 or 4 attacks?????? For the entire game????????????????????? The same attacks with no variety. What the fuck. In addition, every single fight takes way too long and is entirely unsatisfying.

-I experienced numerous bugs on my yiiking journey, including but not limited to my game crashing when running from fights at one point, necessary items not spawning causing me to have to restart my game, and the credits music playing twice at the same time while out of sync. I also had to consult a guide at multiple sections.

+The music was a highlight. Even just the title screen, If I knew nothing about the game, the combination of the song and visuals are actually really neat and would make me want to give it a shot (way more so if it didnt have the stupid “a postmodern RPG” subtitle on it). A lot of the tracks are pretty nice! They were probably the only thing keeping me from completely losing it during the EXTREMELY long battles.

-The story started off somewhat interesting (if we can gloss over the whole sammy being based on a real person thing), but it started to continuously build up that tangled the story into a mess that could only be explained by long dialogue sequences (yippie, everybody's favorite). There is a lot of stuff left seemingly unexplained, and due to the absurd nature of parts of the game it is hard to tell what if anything is even related to the story. I don't think I even need to mention Alex here. The ending seemed to have promise, but then it went out really anticlimactically imo. I don’t really feel much of a sense of attachment to any of the characters either.

+The visuals were pretty interesting for the most part.

-Also, why did YIIK never say “I’m Yiiking out”? I thought that was his signature catchphrase?

Overall, I give it a 4/10. I highly recommend it if you hate yourself!

Brought this on sale recently, out of a mix of morbid curiosity, and the fact that I've heard about the major reworks being put in place. Idk when the I.V update will be, but so far, the updates already added, such as the option to view a tw (a very good compromise for those who'd like one, and for those who'd rather avoid seeing a tw imo) and the reference list (though i will say it does feel a little spiteful, no one wanted you to credit use of "written languages", as long as people know something is a reference, its fine, but in cases where someone might assume you wrote it, its important to credit lest it be assumed to be plagiarism, aka that pyramid fire lady scene.)

You can also choose to simplify the attack minigames, but personally, I enjoy them, though perhaps this will change hours later in, who knows. There's even an option to fast forward battles, which is just as well as battles can take a little while if there's more than one enemy.

A lot of changes do seem to be for the better, and I commend the devs for making the effort to continue developing the game past launch. I genuinely do hope that devs succeed, and that this game does, if not well, better than it did before. Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic here but hey, even if it did take them a while to do so, the fact they listened to feedback and criticism should be congratulated.

I am very tentatively recommending this game for now, if you want to try it, get it on sale.
