One of the best meme games i've ever played. Is a mix of sonic and mario in terms of gameplay with its own charm. Music is great, graphics are great, pretty much everything is great without it just being "ha memes funny see!!! now buy this shitty game because memes!!!!" Please buy this game if you ever get the chance, it's a hidden gem for sure.

Zueira is the name given to the brazilian trolling culture, it is said that Zueira has no limits and that it never ends.

This game is also a solid platformer, I recommend even to foreigners.

I thought the zueira had reached a limit but this game proved me wrong.

This is quintessential to even begin to understanding Brazil. Your soul will be saved by the pure non-sense of Brazilian humor.

You don't get many chances in life to feel so close to God like this one. The deep nuances and references of the Brazilian culture are astonishingly encrypted in each and every part of this game. This game comes to you in layers, with a learning curve that allows even the most unsophisticated marsupial, like me, to fully understand the mechanics of this masterpiece.

The aforementioned layers are many, from simple satire to a deep criticism to the ongoing status quo. If anything, Zueirama is the crème de la crème of what one would consider the analysis of latin american polarization. I should know that, I'm a Political Scientist.

Notwithstanding, Zueirama algo gives the player a more profound understanding of the culture of "zueira," or as locals simplify: huehuehue. The zueira is what it is. It's anger, comedy, drama, all of them and, yet, its own self. You just don't explain zueira, you have to feel it in the original sense of the word, in the original setting where the word came from. You must engage in the ordinary day activities of the Brazilian folk, and anguish for the relief of laughing hysterically of someone else's face, and blame it on the "zueira." One could accuse us of rippin' off "schadenfreude," but I can only tell you that it is nothing but further from the truth. Zueira involves active commitment, involves more than laughing at misfortune of others, it takes the you to be part of this great bread and circus (with cachaça on the side).

However, as I mentioned before, you just can't explain zueira. But you can play this game and understand but a fraction of what it is, and see Brazil for more than you usually see in movies or the news. You can see the true Brazil, the one that drinks cachaça and is not afraid of wearing flipflops in a formal meeting.

In conclusion, I beg of you, buy this game and surrender to Brazil.

Yes, I recommend, BUT this is a very weak recommendation. Please continue reading to understand why (or skip to the end for a summary).

Zueirama is a simple platformer game that is full of memes and references to stuff that will be outdated and forgotten in the future. If you look past the memes, the game stands on its own and is enjoyable based purely on the gameplay, graphics, and music.

But this game is far from perfect. It feels like it was poorly coded, and thus it's full of bugs. It can be classified as a very well made amateur game, or a very poorly made professional game. Most of the bugs are either harmless, or go away after restarting the level. And during my playthrough I had to restart a level about five times in order to fix some bug. Here's an incomplete list of bugs that I faced:

- Sometimes, after mashing the A button to advance the dialog in cutscenes, the game stopped understanding the button, so I couldn't jump. Restarting the level fixed it. Fortunately, I can also pause and select "skip cutscene" option. (I've read that "skip cutscene" is buggy in one of the levels, but I haven't experienced it myself yet.)
- After (re)starting a level (either through dying or through the menu), sometimes the level is not initialized properly. I've seen the coin count not being reset, I've seen the enemies shooting more and more bullets each time after each retry, I've seen a pair of enemy ships simply move without attacking and without colliding with my bullets or my ship. All of these bugs are temporary.
- There are four broken steam achievements (that can't be achieved anymore), and at least one that is broken and given even though you did not fulfill the conditions.
- The in-game achievements are also broken.
- The unlockable moves (attacks) are mostly worthless, and don't work reliably. I could even say they are buggy.

There are other downsides, other game design issues that are not bugs:

- The prices for unlockable moves and upgrades are too high. You will end up finishing the game long before you unlock everything.
- Most upgrades and moves are near-useless anyway.
- When coming back to the map screen, you always be placed at the furthest completed level. It gets pretty annoying to move from the last level to one of the earlier ones, in case you want to replay them.
- Controls are not rebindable. You cannot change the controls.
- It fully supports (Xinput-compatible) gamepad. I'm not sure it works with basic DirectInput gamepads.
- It mostly works even on basic gamepads without dual-analog sticks; except for one level, that requires dual sticks.
- There are a few levels that introduce a completely different gameplay (e.g. it becomes a shooter and not a platformer). That's good for variety, but the controls on such levels is not perfect (movement too floaty, or can't shoot while moving). Also, some of these feel a bit too long and boring. Using speedrun terminology, they are long auto-scrollers.
- On each of those levels with different mechanics, the controls also change. So the jump button may become the shoot button, except that in the swimming level, where the jump swims and a different button shoots.
- The level time is counted in minutes-colon-seconds, but the seconds are not zero-padded.
- In some levels, you can die by going out-of-bounds by moving left at the very start of the level.
- All the bosses follow the formula of wait-dodge-wait-attack. So, boss fights take a while because the bosses are invulnerable most of the time.

Summary: It's an okay game. It's buggy, but not game-breaking. I had a smile recognizing the references depicted into the game itself, and it's refreshing to see a familiar Brazil-inspired environment in a game. Even if you don't get any of the references, it's still enjoyable, although not perfect and might require restarting a few levels a few times. And it's cheap.

If you ignore the memery, this game is just the basic of the basic a platformer can be. That being said, as whole this game doesn't bring anything new to the table that you already didn't have since the late 80s in the game industry.

Music is good, memes are quite funny, gameplay is generic and the controls are mediocre.

It's a short game with good ideas. However, it has a lot of very basic bugs that were never fixed, and probably never will be. Just in my first hour of playing (March 16th of 2022):
- character goes out of bounds in chapter select screen
- stages that don't start or don't end
- skipping cutscenes can cause a lot of wacky effects, usually making the game unwinnable or making an NPC sprite stuck onscreen
- if you skip a cutscene right when a sound effect plays, the sound effect will keep playing

Anyway, I gotta say the first 5 or so stages are nothing special, but the game starts to get good around midway (Area 51 stage), and it actually ends on a high note (the final boss is too easy, though). I believe the scrolling stages (vehicle sections, or on top of something move) were universally panned because they're much harder than the platforming stages for no reason at all. Their checkpoints are really spaced apart much further than normal.

The expansion (Zueirama 2077) brings us a few more stages, which are also rather short. Overall, the platforming stages are too short and easy and the scrolling stages are still pretty hard.
