I love the thematic takes me back to 7-8 years ago on Krautchan's /int/. I used to draw some with Romaniaball too.

absolute amazing game, i had supported the kickstarter but sadly teardown had released so i had to withdraw :(
however waiting 2 years for this game was worth it, lots of missions that i didnt play yet
10/10, infuses one of my favourite things, countryballs into a game that is actually fun

The humour is pretty cringe and the unit rosters of factions are roughly the same. But, overall, it's a nice game to take on sale

I played for a while but I am delighted. The humor is undoubtedly a strong point of this production. He makes fun of everyone equally. The artwork is great, the game immediately brings back memories of homm3. It is a sin not to buy for such a low price. I RECOMMEND!

Its a fun game with a bit of strategy, so as long as you got a brain and a good sense of humour, you'll be having fun and spending hours in this game!

Its simple and beautiful, and filled with countryball memes.. Its a fantastic like strat game, and a fair price for it too.

If you think the humor is cringe then you clearly don't read Polandball comics, its on point.

I was counting at least on extraordinary humor built on country stereotypes.
All I got was trivial click and play that barely mimics heroes of might and magic from over 2 decades ago.

Warning the game is not multiplayer by LAN or IP. It is mentioned in the detail from steam, but they surfed on the similitude with Heroes of Might and Magic.... :(

I requested for a refund.

I'll play Hotseat with a friend and edit my comment later on. :S

================= AFTER PLAYING HOTSEAT =====================

Ok I previously warned in my review about the game not being multiplayer except Hotseat. But the Remote Play Together feature from steam will allow an almost LAN experience. Good luck to find out how to use the Remote Play Together feature though.

Now about the game

What I LIKE:
- Art is cool
- Music is cool
- UI look and feel is good

What I DON'T LIKE:
- Your hero does not have traveling bar (showing how much you can move) under him;
- You active unit quantity and range/close indicator are not visible if you are just over any rock, flower or other units
- Pathfinding set you in combat if, while moving, you pass next to an ennemy
- You are automatically engaged in combat if you stop next to an ennemy
- Attribute explanations are unusable. Many got "statistic" with nothing else (place holder?)
- Game gives attribute that is not in the game... Statue giving +3 strength but neither your hero nor your units got the strength attribute
- When you want to build a structure, it does not show what it will gives. (so you need to buy it to see the units stats)
- When looking at unit satistics it does not tell if the unit is melee or range one. (you can assume range for those with guns, but for everything else, you wont know until in combat)
- If you attack with your hero before doing a spell, the hero's combat turn ends. (In the past HOMM it was working like that and it was NOT something good)
- It is hard to distinguish between regular ennemy and ennemy's heroes. (Even worse, if you right click to check on map unit statistic, the UI will show you a "commander" making you believe that it hold a "boss" like unit. With time I presume that you will get used to it, but it will never be a great asset)
- When you flee a fight, you won't get back your heroe in the tavern. So fight to the end anyway unless you don't want to gives your artifact to other player.
- You can't make team when playing hotseat with friend. (WARNING: We searched for the option and did not find it. Can't guarantee it is not there, just that we did not find it.
- When adding points in your talent tree, it does not increase your units' stats. In fact, nothing increase you units' stats (Is it a bug, is it an error in the text displayed or is it intended...)
- Most of (95%) explanation texts are only shown when you hold right-clic of the thing you want to know info. (if while reading this point, you think it's ok you will deal with it....LOLLL I thought so too! :( )
- When you mouse over an enemy unit to see the statistics about the attack, if you choose the unit (damage done, unit killed), there's a lonnnnng delay before showing the UI (not that long, but you'll feel it, I promise you)
- Magic damage from your spells are inexact (usually it deals higher than show. It breaks strategies. You need to test them all each time you increase your damage multiplier.
- Mana description and texts are inconsistent. I think they wanted to make jokes about it, but you won't easily (or at all) distinguish between them or even know what some effect are doing.
- Good luck understanding the combat initiative bar. (You will at some point, but I would say time yourself for the lol. I'm pretty sure you will finish many, many games before understanding it)
- The market ratio UI is decimal shown rather than the old way 1:4 or 1/4. Its ok as you got a slider, but I got some friends who are intimidated by this math necessity.
- When you want to click on your castle icon, you oftenly won't see it depending on the map behind it
- If you're in your hero panel and click on another hero to compare, it will target the hero you just clicked but it does not change the panel with the newly clicked hero statistics.
- When dealing damage, if the attacking unit makes a joke, you won't see the damage dealt and quantity of unit killed.

Sadly, I won't play it anymore. I waited 2 years for it damn :'(

It was quite a long wait and now it is here, it became a disappointment.
I encountered a lot of bugs, it doesn't run smoothly eventhough it kind of should and there are a few things missing. It is not expensive but it looks like a flash game that was supposed to be free.

Do you enjoy Polandball? Did you think HoMM3 was a fun game?

If the answer to both is yes, you're going to have a good time.

As an old Heroes 3 Fan, CountryBalls Heroes was a must buy for me.

Graphics are nicely drawn, animations are ok and the music is nice too. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either. I like the basic idea of HOMM 3 meets political incorrectness and the game has humor and charme. I got some chuckles here and there.

The gameplay is 100% HOMM 3, but a bit simpler and more shallow. You build your base, ride around the map with your hero, fighting for resources, producing more units until you're strong enough to attack the opponent.
It's simple but fun.

But there are some things bothering me:

- the whole game feels very unfinished. the UI is ugly, the AI feels very basic, especially when fighting, clicking around the menus feels unresponsive
- the localisation is terrible. I'am a native german speaker and there are tons of spelling and grammar mistakes to the point that I think Innominate Games has used a Google translator. Even the most basic words like "save" (in german "speichern") is spelled incorrectly. Dialogues like "how are you" is translated with "Wie sind sie" (wich is a too literal translation and seems very alien-ish for a german speaker) I guess the other languages had the same treatment
- the humor is kinda shallow. sometimes i get a chuckle out of it. sometimes its very cringe and bad.
- the seven Armys are too similiar to another besides looking very nicely different. A bit more diversity in the unit skills department would have been great
- same goes for heroes. besides looks and starting units every hero plays the same
- the spells are awesome and funny. but every faction has the same spells and getting all spells through the skill tree is too easy. also there are a ton of spells but 80% see no use, because of balancing and the fact that you can get the strongest spells really quick
- The economy is way too easy on normal. In every game I had the problem that i could not get rid of my mony and res. no matter how many units i bought my i always earned more money and res than i could ever spend, the economic challenge was completly missing (but harder game modes may take care of that, i need to play them)

In the end CountryBalls Heroes is a nice little game, that honours one of the best strategy games of all time. Its very rough around the edges and a bit shallow. But to tell the truth - i had fun. And if you play the game with the mindset, that this is a little fun HOMM 3 tribute, you will have fun too for a couple of hours.

tl;dr: still better than Might and Magic Heroes 6 and 7

QuestLion

Making refund, this game is a joke (literally)
Gamedesign of this game is on level of first game basically (which came out in 1995, just for you to know) with skill points system from 6 game thrown in. Even then, in 1 you had shipyards and boats to swim in water - I found no water or underground while playing myself and watching LPs - and in 6 all factions were having radically different skill trees for their own mechanic. Here factions have no unique mechanics and all skills are trivial (+ to stat/chance)
Battles are weird. Armies are located on top part of arena (even with full slots), names of spells in spellbook are moved way too left - here is no harmony in artistic sense. Heroes participate in battles like in 5 and way too powerful to use, especially since they are acting first. Most of units skills are actually damage modifiers against specific types of enemies. So, tactically game basically goes down from get-go.
Music and sounds are nothing special. Art and jokes are only things which could make you want to try this game, but even then, for these you can just read original comics. If this game were to be in cheap category or even free, from fans to fans - it's okay. But buying 3 Gb Unity Heroes 1.666 with my own money I feel myself literally robbed.
P.S. There are no online multiplayer and random maps, only 8 scenarios and 2 campaigns with 4 maps each. It seems you can play hot-seat (in COVID era it's like - yay!). Singleplay would be enjoyable a bit if there were no bugs. But they are here.

Best Lilim Dorothy
Best Lilim Dorothy

This game in its current state is very rough and buggy (ironic since everything except for the world market is circles) but overall a fun game. The factions and the fun dialogue is always enjoyable to listen to but more importantly the devs are listening to player input and feedback which I really appreciate.
Overall, I'd recommend to maybe hold it out but definitely keep your eye out its easily a $10 game and enjoyable at its core.

★★★Pulsare★★★
★★★Pulsare★★★

I was very excited for this game when it was first announced but what they offer you here is just an unfinished game with lots of bugs that has no indepth when it comes to gameplay. The Artstyle is the only thing you cant complain about but when not even the button to close a popup window work you ask yourself what they did work on since the demo was playable. Of all the Campaigns only two are playable who each take around 15 minutes if you take your time... The voicelines are repetitive in a way where they do on kind of steretypical word and thats it...

Dissapointed

I really like graphic and visual style - reminds me a bit HoMM2. Really fun game with some silly and charming balls. Overall worth your time and money. I have only three complaints though:
- skill trees should be more unique for each faction. Even giving each race one unique tree or special talent would be enough
- not enough scenario maps. Max players count is 4 and even then its only two such scenarios
- Korwin being ultimate unit for Polish faction left a bad taste in my mouth. Im okay with him being one of the heroes, but its just too much

does the game as good as homm 3? nope.
but it is has same charm. Good game for it's price.

I like the concept of the game. I would like them to add more info to the upgrades, when I hover or click them, it doesnt specify what the upgrade does. Also, the battles are kind of boring. I wish there was more Action. Hopefully the game will be upgraded at some point. I will give it a chance.

UPDATE 2/28/22 Game crashes when you lose a fight using Auto Battle.

Rix
Rix

It's fun, but kinda feels like a beta. It should definitely be considered as an early access.

There are couple of problems with the game, but I think that main problem is that the game drives too far away from HoMM3 and thus loses a lot of depth (hero progression, how spells work, how hero works etc).

But other than that:
- there are no shortcuts in the battle (like W for Wait or D for Defend)
- you can't see the "current hp" of given unit, only max
- when you highlight an enemy - you can't see how far he can go
- exitting the castle is in the same position on UI as end turn (HIC! wtf?)
- humour in the game kinda feels forced sometimes and not as fun as I hoped

It kinda feels like worse version of HoMM1, instead of better version of HoMM3 - that's a bummer.

Anyway - if you like HoMM3 and like countryballs memes then I can recommend the game.

Overall 6/10

Basically a throwback to people who love the Heroes of Might and Magic series. Build your army, gather resources, and conquer the land with humor included. Anyone who liked playing Heroes of Might and Magic I do recommend checking out this game or at least watching gameplay and seeing if you may like it.

God Emperor D

For this review I'm considering three things:
1) this is a new game (so bugs are expected)
2) the developers are indie so they might take longer to patch and update the game
3) if this game is on your radar you probably enjoy polandball/countryball meme comics.

So, I want to start off with the negatives. Nothing I hate more than reading through a review, getting hyped for the good, just to see some stuff that's a deal breaker for me. We'll start off with bugs/design issues:

SAVE GAME BUG
Probably the worst bug in the lot. It basically makes saves a pointless feature. Basically, if you load a save game all/most of the settlements disappear. They disappear from the map, from the quick bar to the right. Essentially destroying your save.
DO NOT start up a big map game unless you're ready to devote the time to it. This is a real game breaker and is the reason it took me as long as I did to complete the campaign.

HERO LEVELING PROBLEM
At the start of the game, you're given a lv1 hero (sometimes with a item already). This is fine, except when you recruit heroes from the appropriate building they start at lv0. Now, having not played the game yourself this might not seem to matter but allow me to explain:
The game has a skill tree directly tied to what level you are, each time you level up you get a point to spend. Heroes that start at level 1 DO NOT START WITH A POINT TO SPEND. Meaning your better off picking a level 0 hero and giving it any item/unit from the lv 1 hero and then delete your starting hero.
It's a minor thing but it basically locks your first move to ensuring you can recruit new heroes.

DIALOGUE OVERSITE
When playing as one of the many available unique heroes; Tibet, Ottomans, etc. The dialogue you will have with other balls (that plays before a battle) will recognize you as Poland no matter what faction you play as.
I understand having unique dialogue for each ball wasn't a priority for early release, but having Tibet be recognized as Poland while I'm playing as China is... Jarring.

Other reviews have noted the dialogue as: Not Funny, Didn't Laugh. I agree for the most part, but honestly that's not what I'm here for. I'm sure if the Devs allow for workshop support, the community will fill in dialogue with what they personally find funny. The devs should ultimately just focus on fixing/improving the game.

MAP ISSUES
Certain items, chests, etc, are inaccessible on certain maps. It's a VERY Minor thing, but it is something that needs fixing.

CRASHES
It happens on rare occasion, including after I beat the America Campaign. But, IMO, this is to be expected for an early release from an indie developer.
_________
Now I'll move along to the game itself. The soundtrack is great, not Jeff Van Dyke in Total War games great, but you will definitely be listening and think to yourself: "Damn, that's pretty good."
The same goes with the aesthetics(game art). The map and buildings look damn good. You'll almost want to sink your time into fully building up a city just to see how good it looks by the end.

The variety of balls you can recruit(or fight) from special buildings around the map is nice, however they outlive their usefulness in the late game. A lot of this has to do with how logistical the game is. Most strategy games kinda brush over logistics, but in this game it's pretty important. On larger maps you might even want to dedicate a whole heroes specifically to gathering units and taking them to other balls.
Some people will find this tedious, especially if you make the mistake of trying to create multiple armies. Doomstacking everything to one hero who does all the work is the meta as far as I can tell so far.

All in all it's a fairly easy game to pick up. I actually skipped the tutorial myself. It definitely needs some polish, but if you love countryballs you'll love this game.

FINAL NOTES: Some suggestions for the devs or moders to improve the game:
1) Have a hard limit to how big your units can be tied to your character level. Maybe you could even add a new logistical skill tree (The way of Chinaball) which improves how man units you can gave, increases map move speed, etc.
Right now the big problem I'm running into is just how OP doom stacking is. OP is fine, but it's also a bit tedious. You just have to count down the turns once you get the ball rolling. It also makes the game (SLIGHTLY) less strategic, as you can just brute force your way through any barrier with sheer numbers.

2) Factions and Heroes DESPERATELY need some uniqueness to them. Unless it's really buried in the code, I can't tell any real difference between the factions except what unit pool you start with. Conquering towns of different ball types gives you access to those units. You can roll around with a completely Chinese army as UK if you have the opportunity and drive to. Which is GREAT... But....

It basically makes all the factions feel the same because... They are. You even get the unique dialogue for other factions if you recruit heroes from that faction.

Giving different heroes different specialties, make some better magicians others better fighters, etc, then locking certain heroes from recruitment for other factions would go a long way. More modern heroes seem best to lock; Mao, Xi, Trump, Hillary, Borris, etc.

Further give certain factions certain faction wide bonuses... If the unit limit is implemented, China could have higher unit caps in their armies, America could get an extra movement for all heroes, Britain could gain extra resources/money from map pick ups, Russia could get a defense bonus in it's cities, etc.

CLOSING THOUGHTS: Really enjoy this game and it's one of the few games my tablet can play. (RIP to my PC, F's in the chat for Poverty). This is a lot of fun for its price and I actually have more than 27 hours on it since steam doesn't count offline hours.
HUGE Recommend for any Polandball fan or Strategy enjoyer, and I hope for good things to come. After the bugs get fixed and the game gets polished... TIME TO ADD ITALIA AND JAPAN BABY! (Here's hoping)

Great game! I'm a huge fan of Polandball, so this is a great game for me. Funny (albeit sometimes corny) jokes, simple controls, strategic battles. Very fun, was checking Steam every moment I could to see if this was out yet, so happy when it did!

yurakolotov
yurakolotov

It's funny, but not as funny as the comics.
The game itself is irritating -- it's too much like HoMM to be easily enjoyable or easily learned.
Tutorial is kinda broken -- it repeats the text after save and load regardless of whether you read it before.

In short: great idea, implementation... meh.
Refunding. Might send some money directly to the publisher though.

So basically this games preview is a lie. it shows intresting combat, then when you get into the game it actually say there is going to be bad language. MY 5 YR OLD SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS GAME!!!! But thats of course who i bought it for. yea my son started playing on the family computer, and bang now he knows curse words. and on top of that about 5 mins after downlaoding, he got bored. I started to play it to see what was wrong with it, and also got bored really fast.

i normaly dont really write reviews but this game is actualy a fun little strategy game to play after a long hard day at work , other strategy games are almost always hard to play when tired this is a fun alternative with a great sence of humor. and in this day and age i can not stress enouph how important humor is when most big devs are bussy trying to signal to the woke anti-fans.

Szoomanariu
Szoomanariu

Very cool game, it's funny and a nice alternative to HoMM.
That being said, it'd be nice if the countries were a bit different - every city feels like it's built the same.
I'm pretty sure the devs will patch out a lot of stuff, as the game is still pretty fresh out of the oven, but atm there are some lack of clarity moments (if you build the hero boost building, you have no indication that you got the buff and you don't know what the buff is - I figured for China from the adventure map but otherwise I couldn't). I'm also wondering as well if there is such thing as early and late game countries :-? they all seem kinda the same in terms of tempo to me at least.
Some more factions'd be also cool, but again, I'm expecting new patches in time :D I can see Franceball, Turkeyball and Japanball doable, that'd be nice.

Not a necessarily bad game, it just feels as if I'm being scammed buying it. It's definitely overpriced for the quality, which is why I will be refunding. It's okay but I have better games to spend money on.

I really wanted to like this game, I've played Heroes of might & magic for possibly a thousand hours through my life (Most of it before/ off steam) but at the moment this game has too many bugs, including one where saving fucks up creature growths for that week. To what degree it fucks them over can vary, It can destroy an entire week's worth, or just 1 group in 1 castle. I truly do not understand what causes it. Past that though, the lacking amount of magic wells (At least in the 2 campaign maps I played) were enough to handicap just about any mage build, unless you take the magic regeneration perk ASAP, and honestly, why does every castle have the same upgrades? I get there's not too much you can do with no mage guilds (I would like it if a dwelling like them were in it to refill your Mana), but as far as I can tell every castle's stat increase is attack up. I feel like an armor piercing up, maybe even luck up or magic power & maximum up could be good (If different stat ups are in the other castles I didn't see, that's good, I looked at America's, China's & Polandball's). I feel like this is really a game people could enjoy as it is different enough from the series it's based off of to enjoy it, but it's not quite a game I enjoy. If I could give a star rating this'd still be about a 3/5 game, but since I can't vote neutral, and i have more gripes than I do positives, it's a negative from me. I believe the devs are hard at work at this game & I look forward to seeing if they make their game better in the future. (Note, This is based on my subjective experiences of a heroes of might & magic clone I played the demo of for about 40 minutes & about 2 hours here. I do not know the depths of every mechanic, and I still can barely tell what units are ranged or melee in the status screen.)

P.S.: I also went into this not knowing what Polandball was, and I now I feel I understand it even less. I can only assume this means the developers hit the nail on the head for what comic style they were looking for since I truthfully do not know, but I didn't turn it off because it made me smile, so kudos.

This game is awesome, the graphics are great and the aura of Countryballs is still there. However, I think legendary melee units (King Korwinusball IV, Magic Harry, Presidentball, and maybe Emperorball) die way too quickly and I think they need a buff to their hp and/or armor. Also, tanks are way too op and I think they need a slight nerf to their stats, especially for the T-34 which can destroy just about anything. Overall, I think this is a great game that I could see grow into something even better.

Hero of the Republic
Hero of the Republic

Its Heroes of Might and Magic but with country balls, memes, and great political humor. 10/10 I high recommend!

Good if you know the basics and don't make it easy. Also, this game NEEDS a map making mode where you can play other peoples maps too. Otherwise its pretty good and made me chuckle.
