Loving VS on PC, I don't have much time or patience for games, so I am surprised to have spent quite a lot of time playing it (though there's no way it's 135 hours like it says, lol). It's so simple in a way, but fun and challenging and super-easy to pick up and play. I would gladly buy an Android version too if there was one, just saying 😄. It would work really well considering the simple controls. I know the author is basically a solo coder so it's a lot of work probably, but here's an extra vote for a mobile version anyway!

The kind of game you don't expect much from but it will be the only thing you will play for weeks. For the content you get it almost seems too cheap.

This game would have been a total quarter eater if it could have existed in the arcade era. Just the most basic gaming fun. Don't let its basic looks fool you. Can expect to get dozens of hours out of this game.

Great game for its price i have finished everything there is todo in the game, i just wish it had a unlimited mode (not counting broken builds that kill red death over and over).

By far the best 'Bang for my buck' game I've ever bought. And it's a nice quick 'fix' if you only have 30 min or so to game. Great fun. Enjoy.

game is unbalanced.

enemies spawn is insane at early levels.

power up that are proposed sucks ass, like they dont keep up at all for future waves where enemies have insane amount of health.

enemies can walk on roofs and elevated texture but YOU CANT! which is very misleading when you see one walking on it and then you go and ur blocked and u die

Human brain is enigmatic; a rectangular character model sh*tting more rectangular effects and your brain gets addicted to it. By the time i was finished with the game the screen had a huge rectangle from a cat weapon's *ss because i needed gold and it was awesome, this may not be clear to you now but buy the game and play it so you too can see the glorious rectangles.

So much fun with this game. 5 dollars. More effort put into this than 80 dollar games. No microtransanctions. One person made this. buy as many copies and give them to your friends. Proves its not all about graphics.

fun game. they did really well with simple graphics and game play. there are many characters and levels and cool powers and upgrades. of course it wont be for everyone, but if you want to play a simple game that is easy to get sucked in to and spend a lot of time on before you know it...i'd say it's well worth the small price. i was surprised because i buy a lot of games and then don't play them because it's tedious to get into. this game is easy to get into, and it's easy to sit there and play for hours if you don't stop yourself.

It's a pretty neat game. It has a lot of content to play through and it doesn't wear you out. You can play one handed very easily. I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys Tower Defenses or likes the noises of slot machines. It is bright and colorful with many secrets to unlock.

I played this game then tried other games in the same genre, this one blew them all out of the water for me. I've stayed up way too late playing this. Best game I've bought for so little money. Even with the "price hike" for 1.0 it'll be worth it.

kelces
kelces

The game is great to engage with and a pleasure to explore.

Since the game's main focus is on gameplay, the visuals are classic pixel graphics with character sprites that are poorly animated - the same enemies have movement animations, but no attack animations and just deal damage upon contact. Also the visuals could potentially be a problem for the author, especially now when the game got so much attention, as the enemies and characters designs are if not directly copied, then certainly inspired by the notorious Castlevania, and the 'references' to Simon Belmont or Alucard are unmistakable here, as are the features of many monsters.

I can't say much about the soundtrack, it's okay, but not particularly memorable.

Vampire Survivors is simple, but deceptively deep.

Papercuts
Papercuts

Addicting to play such a simple game. You have 15-30 minutes on each map until death claims you. Hunt for the question marks on each map to unlock more characters, and others require certain unlocks by playing to unlock (and some you can do both). Certain characters are really good on certain maps (Poppea Pecorina on Vertical Maps, Ramba on Horizontal, imo), while others are extremely specialized depending on your needs or require precise builds to get the best out of them.

My only complaint with the game is that the map can be quite unhelpful when locating items. Even though items are listed on the map it's essentially just a generalized area. Since you are on the clock you can spend 5+ minutes looking for an object within the confines of the object pictured on your map, ESPECIALLY if it's a small object like a ring with the added annoyance that mobs will smother it.

Livinglikegary

This game is the best 5$ you'll ever spend. Can get a little bit redundant late in the experience but still surprising through the end.

gddctr

Great for $3 for sure. Pick it up. 7 hours in and no viable builds without garlic, so.....still balance issue but so fun anyway.

Sauce_Fan1776
Sauce_Fan1776

it could have been good but the game takes great pains to remove your agency as a player. weapons attack automatically, and a great portion of them attack enemies at random. so it doesn't feel like you're fighting the enemy; you're avoiding them and waiting for the game to kill them for you. the game isn't actually about fighting hordes of monsters, it's about walking around to pick up loot while the game fights itself.

veddoo
veddoo

Super fun game, really easy to get in to, and each game takes about 15-30 min (depending on map). Community is really helpful as well. Great value. over 60 hrs now for €5 and it hasn't been released yet.

Buy and play it. It's popular for good reasons.

For those wanting to read why it's so popular. This game nails a few things extremely well. The audio-visual presentation is amazing. The sounds of the weapons and music makes me super immersed and the monsters are quite distinct while still referencing castlevania in a fun way.

This game has perfected the difficulty curve I think. At the start you will be dreading min 13 on the first stage (it's a real killer for sure) but I had 100% the game a few updates ago and now that I have returned I see that I basically got set back to like 50% completion because of all the content. The game has so much fun things to do and once you understand what strategies work best you can start to go for the more difficult unlocks.

KingOfWolves
KingOfWolves

Fun, addictive, cheap. You will get your value then wish there was more items, characters, levels, secrets and extras just to give you an excuse for just another run. Honestly was a game I thought I would not like only to play back to back runs every chance I got.

fabs();
fabs();

Apart from a slow start, it's an interesting game. At first glance, it appears to be capitalising on the feeling of power you get when collecting powerups and you think it's a game about grind and domination. However, I believe the game is more of a very long puzzle. The puzzle of how to get access to the powerups you need, and revealing what else is available. So, after more than 30 hours, I can say I have seen most of what the game has to offer (but definitely not all) and I spent some fun hours doing it. I can't imagine ever wanting to go back to it, but it was worth way more than the £2 I paid for it.

Yoyojomo
Yoyojomo

This is a great game. It's not super easy, but not hard either. It is really satisfying as you gain more power-ups and get stronger and stronger. The ability combinations make the game extra interesting as you figure out which ones to level up during each run. The number of characters is great. I think the only constructive criticism I would give is it would be nice if the maps had more of a "start to finish". They seem kind of random, with power-ups spread across each map in different directions, and some of them take forever to get to. All in all, I have been having a TON of fun with this game (over 30 hours, so far!). Very satisfied!

Alm345
Alm345

Great game, I got this to play on my steam deck. I had heard that it was great but after the first attempts at the first level I didn't understand it, but I tried to play it more after that and got used to it. It can be very addictive. The more you play it the more fun it is.

Magiknight
Magiknight

I don't think you will be able to find a better game for this price point. Its incredibly fun and satisfying and gives hours of enjoyment. It generally plays thru in 30 minute stage intervals so its easy to fit in a full run in one sitting but offers the ability to pause in addition. It centers around surviving by wave clearing enemies that get progressively harder as the run goes on. As you unlock more items, weapons, characters, and modes the game becomes incredibly flexible making the replay ability very high. The developers have been very consistent in releasing content for it and even if they didn't add anything else it already feels like a complete game.

Gwynbleiid
Gwynbleiid

It's amazing how fun this game can be, the gameplay is very simple, you move around a map, with your abilities firing off on their own, killing thousands of enemies, collecting xp, and selecting new abilities or improvements on each level up, but the enjoyment, the satisfaction you get by finishing a run is great. There are also many secrets, abilities, power ups, and combinations to be found, but it always feels like you find them naturally, without any pressure to figure them out. Also, the fact that you effectively don't loose anything by loosing a run, and that at most a run is 30 minutes, you can get one done whenever you want. I totally recomend this game, it's addictively fun!

The leveling and unlock systems in this game are SO ADDICTIVE. I bought the game a week ago... I thought I had roughly 5 hours total playtime. No. I have 25. SO GOOD! Price will be going up with the release of v1.0 on 20OCT2022, so get in early at the $5 price point while you can!

Wow what a game for the price. Tons of unlockables, plenty of time in bullet hell, and just fun. I had a lot of fun upgrading all the weapons and nearly 100%ing the game. The game is fun regardless of %. If you want a game to play that's enjoyable and engaging for the leveling/grind portion this is it for you. If you want to get high and play a game - i mean if you have a controller and can figure out everything else, this is for you too.

A great game to just pick up and play, then slowly understand how all the mechanics work. Heaps of fun secrets to figure out, many many synergies and different combinations in weapons. Once you get further into the game you can really break it and get insane numbers. 10/10 game.

Mip

This is an incredibly addictive and fun game and absolutely worth it's value, even with it's recent price increase. The game itself is fairly simple but you're constantly unlocking new things to try out and are steadily rewarded the longer you play. It's rare I revisit a game so much and it is worth your time to pick it up and give it a go.

Vampire Survivors is a game that I picked up randomly just based on the reviews. I thought to myself, "this cheesy game can't be THAT good, can it?" I play the game and I die in about 3 minutes. I play again and I die in 10 minutes. Fast forward multiple play sessions to the 8 hour of game time mark and i finally beat the FIRST LEVEL. This game is ADDICTING, there are so many upgrades, so many characters you unlock. I have no idea how this development team pulled it off, but wow, this is a must have game. At the time that I purchased it, it was around 5 dollars. This is a no-brainer purchase. I highly recommend it.

My first purchase for the Steamdeck. I feel guilty playing it. It starts as "I have a tiny bit of gaming time, I don't have enough to get involved in a game." then progresses to "Shit, I could have finally finished HL2 if I would have started there this morning."
So buyer beware?

On a "review" note. I really like the single stick shooter, having different builds and exploring without a guide. Some builds are just fun as they become so overpowered you just wander through enemies like a jedi goes through battle droids, zero challenge but still feels good and fun.

This game is a little hard and boring at first. but it became my favourite game in just a couple days of playing. i cannot believe a game this good is only 3$. i have 9 year old computer and this game runs almost lag free with a ridiculous amount of projectiles on the screen. 10/10 would recommend. it is the best game i have ever played. and it'll run on just about anything. there are no major problems that i have found or even heard about. when i got it for 3$ i thought it would be a low quality game but i was very mistaken. this is a must buy. and it is such a good deal with the price

Grim Reaper Odin
Grim Reaper Odin

Sure the game has a few bugs, but they're not game breaking. Monster experience gems should honestly drop within the movable play field especially early on within each level, isn't a problem later on when you have either attract orbs dropping or the attract orb utility item or the arcana which pulls them into a circular radius around you. Certain playable characters could really use an update such as the chimera character which is slightly difficult to unlock if one doesn't know what they're doing, the only reason this paticular character could use an update is due to how ridiculously close one has to be to mobs in order for it to hit them starting out & that it isn't guaranteed because it fires in random directs & a majority of the time fires away from enemies until later on in the levels when the mobs are coming in force from all directions to where this doesn't matter, especially after one levels his weapon ring up & evolves it twice (trust me when I say his weapon ring isn't even worth it, as fireball does the exact same thing but actually fires towards random enemies instead of just fully randomly & can be modified to pass through enemies & even cause explosions for each enemy the fireballs hit so long as one unlocks & chooses the arcana for it.) Another thing is the character/weapon with the cats (totally annoying af!) the cats mainly track towards your position & attack the player 1/2 the time req plenty of health regen especially at the start of lvls, otherwise you will eventually die if you choose to level that weapon up at the start unless you're a pro at avoiding everything. Other than these things the game is truly great! :)
In my honest opinion they should change the chimera character/weapon ring to shoot blue fireballs that travel at an increased speed faster than what standard fireballs track & have them either pass through mobs or bounce off mobs or have a 50/50 chance to have either/or & they deal like 5 more dmg starting compared to the standard fireball weapon. Or even better, it shoots out multiple element type bolts (since it is a chimera) one fire, one lightning & one ice. The fire could be leveled to cause explosions at later levels, the lightning could be leveled to cause short chaining lightning arcing between a set amount of mobs when it comes into contact with a mob & the ice could have a chance of say freezing/slowing the enemy/enemies it hits & at later levels causes the projectile to burst/shatter causing enemies around the struck enemy to become frozen/slowed. Just some ideas for the developers to run with community ideas :)

Surprisingly fun and simple game.

You basically just move your character and choose weapons/upgrades and the rest happens automatically on cooldowns, but the variety of weapon attacks/patterns and how they play off each other/the shapes of the maps is clever.

It didn't take too long to find strategies that work fairly regularly on the regular stages so its not as difficult as some other permadeath games, which I tend to bounce off of, so if you want one that's a bit more manageable this one might be worth looking at.

Best thing about this game: the simplicity what makes it so addicting, the feeling for me personally is like when i played other addicting pixelated games such as Downwell, Enter The Gungeon, or Kingdom, where they have similar premise and trait which is try to survive until you can no longer resist, i know they all are different games but surely you know what i mean..

Highly recommended if you are into this kind of game or roguelike fan in general!

Deceivingly simple gameplay, that through multiple plays, reveals that theres a lot more to it than being a simple bullet hell game. Very cool method of discovery for upgrades and different characters. A game where I was having fun with 5 minutes of gameplay at a time, but now, anything less than 1/2hr at a time is unacceptable. As a non-completionist, this is one of those few games that I am actively trying to 100%.

Fun and pretty well designed. Even though at first glimpse it feels like a shallow game, in fact the systems are really deep - every single pickup/decision matters and will define the outcome of the game.

Took me 30 hours total to 100% the game, great bang for the buck. This gem is really polished and feels like a complete game despite the "Early Access Game" category.

Simple to pickup and (somewhat) hard to master. Only minor downside is that once you understand the game and its choices, every run feels incredibly easy.

Progression is satisfying. Strategy and technical execution never gets undermined by character getting more powerful. I am just as engaged by my step by step movement at the beginning of a game session when I have no weapons and must rely on my own skill as I at the end when I have a gazillion enemies closing in on my position and my character is firing back with curtains of spells and weapons just to maintain a square inch of screen space to survive in.

Amazingly addictive auto battler that hits the nostalgia bone for all teh 80s kids that grew up playing Castlevania games. I expected nothing but a short time sink and have since spent 69 (nice) hours playing this thing so.... yeah.

Pros
-insane amount of content
-regular updates all through the game's dev cycle
-amazingly supportive community
-simple control scheme
-little to no learning curve

Cons
-will destroy your gfx card in older machines (not really but it strains my 980ti)
-flashing lights and motions can cause headaches or seizures
-sound sometimes breaks when too many onscreen actions occurring

This 3$ indie game that's not even fully finished and not even a year old has delivered time and time again more content with substance and replayability beyond its initial scope than a fully released 90$ game by a triple A company with years of work, Who have made promises to support the game post launch to only under deliver. Overall, its a great game to play and kill time with. If you like rogue-like kinda games then give it a shot, its only 3$ at the end of the day.

Great project. At first glance this game didn't look like anything interesting, but i am happy that i was wrong.

Steam says I've only played 3 hours so far, but it's actually 70 hours. I played a lot offline on the steam deck when I was bored. For some reason, steam only tracks online hours played. Both on the desktop and on my steam deck, this game is well worth the $3 spent. It's addictive and it seems to get updates pretty often, because all 3 times I came back to it, there was something new added.

I think I've purchased like 5 new games to play on my Steam Deck and I haven't even opened them. Instead I'm playing around with a game that was 3 bucks and can just pop it up in any situation.

I love this game and I hope there will be more and more content.

I'd be even willing to buy major DLC packages to support the developer as it's insanely fun.

Well worth the money and I have just scratched the surface. Lots of characters and weapon combos. Levels actually have a different feel and favor certain weapons which is a nice touch.

Honestly, it is worth every cents. The replay value is through the roof and its simple but addictive Gameplay does not get old.
If you are a fan of being an unstoppable force it is the game for you. Easy to pick and not that hard to master makes this game a sure shot. Tons of Easter Eggs and Secrets, both in-game and in the road map. I really appreciate the Devs devotion and transparency. Totally recommend it.

Why is it so good to play a game that doesn't even have an attack button. This game breaks some sort of laws of physics.

One of the best and simplest games I have played in a long while. Easy to pick up and play, great for short play sessions... or sinking hours and hours in one sitting.
